"Shut up, man." Blake yawned, but picked his head drowsily up from Ace's lap. He began to scratch and claw at the blood on his feathers, while watching Ace out of the corner of his eye.
Zander laughed out loud. So what do you think of my to-do list? Anything to add?
"Blood. I see too much blood. There was blood everywhere." Ace's face went dark, "Blood's bad. It hurts. That place hurt me. Blood came out a lot. Rozer-Rum. He asked for it. The gun." he started to sweat, "He always had the gun. Me. Shooting practice. Clay pigeons go boom! Hurt me. Blood. Liked seeing my blood. Purple. Whip. The whip. Always slung over his back. I don't like poles. Rope burns. No. Blood," Ace huddled into a ball. "I see too much blood."
No, I think you're pretty much set. Do you think you have to add anything? Dani answered him.
(Poor Ace)
"Hey, hey! Ace, look at me." Blake folded his wings and grabbed Ace's face gently in his hands, trying to make eye contact. "No blood. No more blood. You're with me. It's Blake. You're obnoxious little brother, remember? And I need you to stay with me. You have to stay with me." Blake's steely blue eyes met Ace's violet ones as he searched for responsiveness.
Yes… kiss girlfriend. Zander kissed Dani lightly on her forehead, on her nose, and then on her lips.
"No blood?" Ace whispered, eyes glistening.
Dani giggled as Zander kissed her. "I haven't giggled in like, years. And now I can't stop. You broke me!" She whined playfully
"No blood." Blake affirmed. "Just feathers." Blake shook a few of the loose ones from his ruffled wings, handing a small pure white one to Ace. It was around four inches long, and downy soft. One of the ones that was growing where Ben had ripped feathers out.
Ace took it with his trembling fingers. "I like feathers. They float on Zebra clouds." he rubbed it on his cheek, "It's real soft, like a gorilla made out of candy donuts and spun sugar ike cream."
Zander laughed." Is that so?" He poked at her playfully.
Dani giggled again. "No! Stop!" She shouted, giggling madly.
"Yeah, of course!" Sky agreed, sitting in a chair next to Macha's bed.
"Well, feel free to keep it. I have plenty of them." Blake forced a smile. Much like Ellis, Blake's wings were laced with scars and stunted feathers. The only difference was Blake had gotten his fighting, while Ellis had never been able to fight back. Blake wasn't grateful for much that Commander Ryder did for him, but he was slightly grateful that some of the older soldiers took pity on him when he was younger and taught him how to hold his own. "And how many times do I have to tell you it's ice cream. I-C-E. Ice as in snow and ice. Ice cream."
(LOL Ace is just like a big toddler right now)
"What is snow?" Ace tilted his head, "It sounds like blow. Is it a type of wind?"

HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHa
Zander laughed and stopped poking her, but then pulled one of Blake's feathers out of his pocket." I was saving this for the next time I tickled Blake but…" Zander started to tickle her again, this time with the feather.
Dani screamed as Zander tickled her with the feather. She promptly fell off the couch. GAHH MY SIDE!
"You've never seen snow before? But dude, you live in Seattle!" Blake gasped, feigning shock mostly for show. "That means you've never had a snowball fight! Or snow cones! Or built a snowman…" Black listed on, clicking his tongue with disappointment.
"I don't live in Seattle." Ace looked at Blake, "I was on the run until I came here. In fact, I spent my last year in Australia at a foster home."
"Australia?" Blake blanched, his face paling. "The place with all the spiders?"
"OH MY GOSH DANI, I'M SO SORRY." Zander said laughing and helping her up. As soon as she was up Zander looked her over. " You're not bleeding again, so that's good." Zander stopped in front of her." Whew, I thought I might've had to carry you back to the hospital."(edited)
