Kano turned to the people, "I'll cover you. There's a hangar in the southeast wing that holds ships. You won't be able to fly fast enough, you need one."
Kano turned to the people, "I'll cover you. There's a hangar in the southeast wing that holds ships. You won't be able to fly fast enough, you need one."
Blake was slightly in shock at Kata's transformation, but listened to Zander and let her go. "Go." He ordered to Zander and Dani. "Get to the ship. If it comes down to it, I'll draw fire." A white feather drifted slowly to the floor of his back. The color disguise had faded.
Kano shook his head, "Like I said, I'm covering you. Anyone LK cares about needs to be kept safe."
Dani grabbed her blades and lit them up. "Blake if you're not behind us I will come back and drag you there myself." She unfurled her wings and shoved Zander and Lily out the door.
Kano followed, circling them, pulling as many blasters as he could hold out and preparing them to shoot.
Keep them safe. Dani shouted to herself in her head. She repeated it over and over again. She couldn't loose anyone else.
"What do you mean?" Sky asked gently, still watching him intently.
Zander walked up the stairs, Lily in hand. Kata was a in front of them, clearing out any guards who came for them, and blocked them from the line of fire.
Dani used the blades to deflect the bullets raining down on them. "Are there any water pipes here?" She shouted at Kano.
One guard. Two guards. Three. He took down all of them. A ray hit him in the shoulder and Kano cursed under his breath. It hurt. He had to keep going. For LK.
"No. They import water from the base."
"I've never been to school," he began, "So when we… hooked up," he euphemized, "I had no clue of the consequences…! Her death could have been avoided if I just.." he trailed off, exhaling shakily with frustration.
Blake as soon as the battle started, old training clicked back into place, taking him over. He had a soldier's ray gun and was firing himself. Shooting to kill. He let out an angry scream and let off another round.
Kano patted the crazy gun-mans shoulder. "Calm down. LK needs you. You can't die."
"Dang it." Dani exclaimed. "This is going to be a LOT harder then." She skidded around a corner. "V sleduyushchiy raz ya prinoshu Niki." She chuckled at the thought of Niki setting everything on fire and freaking out the R.A.C.
(Anything Dani says in another language is going to be Russian.)
He spread his arms around the group, covering them to the hangar. When they were in, Kano calculated that they had exactly five minutes before a whole fleet of officers kicked down the door. He chose the fastest ship and began programming it to take commands from the people he was with. The door opened, "Get inside. Quickly!"
"Peter.." Skylar started, "It is not your fault. You didn't know about the consequences, how would you? Everything happens for a reason. If she hadn't well.. if she hadn't died, you would never have met Ace, Macha, Blake, Dani, Me."
Blake made sure he was the last one in, still firing occasionally at anyone who came too close.
(Ace is glad that he was included in Skylar's list this time.)
Dani jumped into the plane and took the controls.
Zander turned to the man who had helped them out. " Thank you, for what you've done. Dani and Blake, thank you, I couldn't have done this without you."
"You're welcome." Kano closed the door, staring into LK's eyes. She was horrified and her voice was muffled behind the glass, "Kano! Come in!"
"I can't. You need to be safe." tears welled up in Kano's eyes as he turned around, deciding not to face her.
Peter lifted up his heavy eyes, a line of moisture perched on the rim of his eyelids. "I miss her so much, Skylar," he whispered painfully, and his fingers felt chilled, so he took her hands to warm them.
Blake dropped the gun, panting, his muscles taught with tension. He nodded at Zander, too wound up to speak.
