Draco looked Maximus right in the eye. “The amount is doubled this time, Maximus.”
Draco looked Maximus right in the eye. “The amount is doubled this time, Maximus.”
Maximus made an over exaggerated sigh. “Draco, my dear boy, I’d love to take you up on that offer, but the thing is there have been these sucpicions floating around about our relationship Draco and how that connects to the decisions I make as a leader of the Council.”
Draco’s lips pressed into a thin line.
“Then, I can triple it.” Draco replied. He may very well be broke by the time this was over
“Draco, might I ask why you even want that dangerous draman?” Maximus asked
“Name your price, Maximus. I swear to you I can pay it.” Draco stated.
Maximus thought about the endless pain he felt during the ball. His son felt it too. It was clear the shadow draman had targeted Councilmen. He didn't think he’d even be able to manage convincing the others to let the boy out. Maybe the boy could be… taught a lesson after the Labs. Maximus pondered the idea, a boy they could have full control over. He made a mental note to put in an order for the Labs…
"Draco," Maximus hesistated, then changed his mind, "No. Now if you could show your way out," Maximus, who had cleverly placed himself near the door, left before Draco could object further.

Thalia came to the secluded garden by request of the frosted note she found on her windowsill the night before.
Skylar walked out into the garden. “I will be honest, Thalia, I didn’t expect you’d actually show up.”
Thalia glared, "What do you want, Skylar?" She spat her ex-friend's name like a curse.
Skylar looked into Thalia’s brown eyes trying to refrain from scowling. Every time she saw Thalia, she saw her cousin’s charred corpse. “Thalia, I know we have a rocky relationship, but I need to know where Rvan is. I just need to know where.”
Thalia raised her eyebrows. Why was Skylar concerned where Rvan was? What had they really been talking about that day fpshe found them together? But then something else came to Thalia's mind… Skylar didn't know. Thalia released a breath, "Rvan is in the Labs were my parents were put when they died."
“Prison.” Skylar lied through her teeth. Jay had already told her where they really were…and frankly, Skylar didn’t regret any of her actions that lead Mr. and Mrs. Floren to wind up in the labs. They had put both Skylar’s and Thalia’s lives in danger.
Skylar stuttered back. There were a lot of things she could to Thalia, her former friend. Skylar curled her hand into fist. This was stupid. This whole thing was so ridiculously stupid. She shouldn’t give a sh*t about Rvan. He attacked Jay and he worked with the fire team, but here she was. “As hard as this might be to believe, Thalia, I don’t want that to happen either.
“Well then let’s do something about it!” Thalia yelled and threw her hands up in the air. Thalia sighed, knowing what she needed to do, “Let’s do something about it Skylar. That’s why you’re here, isn’t it?”
Skylar nodded. “Rvan is my…” She trailed off once she realized she didn’t know what Rvan was to her. She shock her head. “It’s just that I can’t leave him there.”
Thalia looked Skylar dead in the eye, “ONly if you promise me. Promise me that this stays between us. The Council won’t hear a single word.”
Treason. This was treason.
There would no going back after this. Skylar thought about everything. She had a good and realively safe life. Her was mother was a wealthy ice mentor. She was a fiercesome competitor in the arena who rarely lost. She had the basic necessities and so much more. If the Council found out she had helped Rvan escape she would lose everything. Logistically helping Thalia seemed like a bad deal…or at it was until she thought about the future. When she turned twentyfive, the Council would drain the energy from her body and leave her unable to return to her dragon form, if she was fortunate she would still retain enough ice power to become a mentor, otherwise she would get a normal job like a normal human. Would she be happy sitting at desk? The Council wouldn’t care about her, but they would continue to ruin the lives of the next generation of dramans…could she live like that. She knew her mother longed to return to dragon form, she could see it in her eyes from time to time.
“I swear to Deviros, Natalia and all of their children, Thalia, that I will take this secret to the grave.”

…
There were many things Draco had never told his fire protégés. Secrets that would forever be trapped inside of him like his beast form until his final days. The fact that he was absolutely terrified of possible outcomes of this endeavor would be added to that list of secrets.
He hadn’t wanted his fire children to have any part in this. He didn’t care if he was sent to the labs. Draco had decided that he wanted to die before the day his ability to control and touch fire without being harmed completely diminished. But if his fire children were hurt tonight, killed, or in a much worser case, set to the labs, it would kill Draco. He would rather face the hell hole that they called the labs than see any of that happen.
Yet here all they were. Nula, Gregory, Kyle and Thalia. His fire children, prepared to enter the sewers that lead to those terrible labs. And he couldn’t convince them not to go.
“Now, you all remember the plan, correct?”
“Yes.” They replied in unison.
“It is a little reckless, I’ll argue, but yes,” a new voice added.
