@Mr.Misfit
Gabe listened as they ate. He woke up 3 hours ago and was already bored, waiting for the group to come and release him. He began whistling to himself.
Gabe listened as they ate. He woke up 3 hours ago and was already bored, waiting for the group to come and release him. He began whistling to himself.
(Wait, what?)
"The prisoner. Crap. Go on. I gotta let him out." She sprints back to the old camp. "Get out.. horde coming…" She opens the cell and catches up with her group.
Destiny held Lee close as she ran, looking behind herself to see at least five Undead tripping after her. Unfortunately for her, the Undead were Magickind, green in color. These special types relied on the sound and smell rather than sight. Tiniest movement could catch their eyes. The faintest smell could be caught by them.
Destiny turned around quickly to fire two knives, which thankfully made their mark.
Two down, three more to go.
With Lee in her arms, Destiny couldn’t shoot effortlessly and efficiently. For now, she needed to hide.
(Destiny what have you done)
"Wait," Gabe stammers, "My guns. I am coming with you to Lincon Center, and then I get my guns."
They reach Lincoln Center and see guess who. The Loner. Their eyes widen as the see 3 Magickind behind her. Neo runs up towards them, knife in hand. She stabs one in the head, wrenches it out and shoots the other two, centered perfectly in their foreheads.
Destiny had whipped out three blades to finish the Magickind, but before she could do so, they were already head and there stood the girl from before in her glory.
Destiny gritted her teeth and held Lee tighter, feeling irritated that she, for the first time in ten years, was in debt of someone. Her eyes fell on the man who had attempted to mug her and she felt bitter. Still, she stopped running and looked at the girl, parting her lips and letting out words she didn’t think she’d hear herself say to anyone aside from Lee.
“… I am grateful for your help,” she said a bit icily. “Although, once again, it wasn’t unnecessary.”
"Whatever…" Neola's eyes fall upon Lee. Her eyes grow wide and she turns around, unable to take the pain. "We'll leave… " She says facing away from you.
"Oh, not yet you won't," Gabe says, getting in front of Neo, "My guns, please?"
Destiny clutched Lee closer to her. She should’ve felt guilt, but in the world Destiny lived, being guilty would only get you killed.
“Thank you,” Destiny said loudly, boldly and without embarrassment. It wasn’t that she was full of ego. She could admit her own mistakes, but it was the people she had a problem with. Destiny turned around and walked inside a building to catch her breath without gazing back.
To Destiny’s relief, the little girl shuffled in her arms and called out in the quietest, smallest voice Destiny ever heard her talk in.
“Dusty…?” Lee murmured, her brown orbs opening and looking at her in disbelief. “Is that you…?”
Destiny pulled herself down and hugged Lee close.
“Yes, it’s me,” she whispered back, running her fingers through her hair. “I’m here.”
Lee cracked a weak smile.
“I knew you’d find me…” Lee murmured. “I never lost hope…”
Destiny’s throat closed up and she wanted to destroy every member of the Hunt to pieces. Instead, she kissed Lee’s forehead and rubbed her head.
“I’ll never let anyone get you again, Lee. I will die before I let harm come to you again,” she whispered so that only Lee could hear her, pulling Lee as close as she could. “Rest up, princess. You need it.”
Neo hands over Gabe's guns. "Aaden…" She collapses to the ground, head in hands. "Mom…Dad…" She whispers pain in her voice. Silent tears streaming down her face. (I'm sorry I was gone, had to eat.)
(It's okay! All good.
Although… now what?)
(Well, since your character has no sympathy- in the best way possible lol- I don't really know.)
(You could ask me what's wrong, although it'd be breaking character.)
(I could ask without breaking character)
Destiny looked up, watching as the girl trembled. She could hear her cry out names, but Destiny couldn't catch them properly. At first, she stayed silent. She, in a way, knew what she was going through. She had lost her family, too, after all.
"The Undead have no mercy for those who are emotionally weak," started Destiny, not removing her eyes from the girl's trembling form. "You are only young. Cry and weep for those who are no longer with you, but remember to keep them in your mind. Turn your loss into your victory. Turn your sorrow into your happiness," she looked at Ashton while still talking to the girl. "If you let yourself succumb to a depressing pit, you will survive no more. I am not someone to rely on, but if you must, you are welcome to confide in me."
"No… you don't understand…" She turns. "I…" She gets up. "Thank you. I-im fine." She walks away. "Me."
Destiny said no more as the girl began to walk away. Instead, she focused her attention on Lee.
She looked sick, but she didn’t have a fever. Destiny assumed they had starved her, for she looked bony and weak. She was bruised, but not badly. Looking around, Destiny’s eyes fell on a restroom and looked grateful. She had to wash Lee, dress her wounds and then give her food. Plenty, to restore Lee’s energy.
Neo falls into Ashton's arms. "She was his age…Aaden…"
Ashton's muscular arms comfort Neo, they surround her body. He had never seen her so weak."I know…"
"The Hunt…they did this…" Her usually kind face turned angry.
When Destiny was done washing Lee, she dug through her bag to find something to eat. She had raided a store on her way, grabbing whatever she could find, so had a bunch of snacks that hadn’t expired yet.
“Lee?” Destiny murmured, pulling Lee back in her lap and shaking her awake. “You need to eat. Come one, princess.”
Lee’s eyes slowly opened and she sat up with the help of Destiny.
“This isn’t enough,” Destiny started, opening a bottle of water and some snacks. “But at least you’ll get something in your stomach.”
She helped Lee eat, and once she was done, Lee curled up against Destiny and fell asleep once more. The older woman held Lee tighter as if a loose hold would take Lee away from her again. She couldn’t bear to part with Lee. Lee was the only family she had ever left.
Neola turns around and observes the way Destiny comforted Lee. She smiles. Happy memories rush to her mind and she cries a tear of joy. "The Loner is lucky to have her," Neo turns towards Ashton, "and I am lucky to have you."
Destiny didn’t realize when she had fallen asleep, but she woke up with the sun rising. It hadn’t been long, only two hours, Destiny presumed, but she still felt regenerated. She also felt sore, but she decided she preferred being sore if it meant having Lee back again. The sleeping three year old looked peaceful as she slept, and a little color had returned to her face. It made Destiny feel relieved.
She looked at her surroundings and found herself where she had last hidden herself away from the eyes of the girl and her group. No one else was there, but she figured they were hiding themselves.
Picking up Lee and her bag, Destiny started walking out, but froze when she reached the glass door. There was a horde of Undead roaming around, a faint iron smell filling her lungs.
Someone had fired blood bombs. And with the smell of it, they hadn’t fired just one. Destiny and Lee were surrounded.
Before the Undead could see her, Destiny jumped back and hid in her previous spot, contemplating her next move.
The faint shuffling of feet was all the warning the group got of the wandering Undead, a single strangled moan breaking the tense silence. Orion cursed his luck, these were the worst kind, the ones that had only gotten faster and stronger, the ones with animal characteristics. He had seen the woman poke her head up though, seen a kid just behind her. Cussing, he drew his blades, he was going to regret this tomorrow. Running on silent feet toward the first of the Ani's, he leaped onto its back, metal flashing before it started to crumble. Using the body as a springboard he jumped towards the next. By the time he was through five, the rest, at least seven had turned towards him. Drawing his sidearm he fired, taking another two fast ones down before they could reach him, stabbing a third. The last of the quick ones had circled behind him, and lunged for him. In a single fluid motion he stepped out of the way, shooting it through the skull. The last three were brutes, and his knives wouldn't do much against them. He managed to take one down before having to sprint out of the others way. Blue eyes wide with the thrill of the hunt, he called towards the building. "Saw you in there! Little help would be great!" Continuing to dodge he hopes the woman won't leave him to die without help.
Destiny hissed. Idiots, idiots everywhere! There was a horde of Undead outside and this loner thought he could take them out?
Still, he only thought of helping her. Had Destiny been alone, she would not have appreciated the help. But she had Lee, and in order to protect Lee, Destiny was willing to do anything.
"Stay here," Destiny ordered. "Do not move, do not make a sound. Hide inside and do not come out until I tell you to." she made sure Lee was covered properly. After she was done, without listening to Lee's protests, Destiny grabbed her weapons and darted outside.
She whipped out her gun and fired at an Undead attempting to lunge at the mystery man from behind, before grabbing three of her knives and shooting them straight at three of the Undead. She didn't pause to collect herself; hesitation would only get her killed. So she kept firing her knives, but when she reached into her pocket, she realized she had used them all up. Without further ado, Destiny brought out her twin swords. The sword was her favorite choice of weapon. She felt invincible with her swords in her hands but did not use them much. The smell of the blood had attracted more Undead, making Destiny curse.
They needed something soft smelling, something that had a scent of roses. The Petal Bomb was a good choice, but Destiny had run out of those.
Orion glanced over to the woman, smiling grimly. He whirled upon his current attacker, jamming his claw-like blades into its skull. Seeing a few others, he fired, headshots every one. He yelled, "Like shooting fish in a barrel!" Hair ruffling, he turned, stabbing another. The scent of blood was drawing them in, that much he knew. If the blood could draw them in, it could draw them away. On his firestarter, a knife with little other purpose, he cut a long line down his arm, muttering, "Here kitty kitty. Follow me." As soon as the blood started to flow, heads turned his way. He just needed to get far enough away to take out his rifle. Orion started to run. After getting a good 30 yards he turned, proping his rifle up. The silencer kept the noise from drawing more. Heads started dropping, and kept dropping. He bought himself time, before running towards the last few and taking them out. After scanning the area, and finding no more Undead, he bandaged his arm expertly. Turning towards the woman, he made a mock bow, smiling. "Orion, at your service." Blood covered as he was, he probably looked a good deal crazier than normal.
