"Yes," Mara said, rubbing her face with her hands. "That would be nice." She pushed her hair from her face and went to go grab a brush.
"Yes," Mara said, rubbing her face with her hands. "That would be nice." She pushed her hair from her face and went to go grab a brush.
Phoenix nodded and went to grab a new set of shirt and trousers as well. She walked back over to where Mara was now brushing her hair, "Here you are your highness. Would you like me to leave while you change?"
"Yes." Mara waited until she had left, then yanked her bloody tunic over her head and examined the brand on her collarbone in the mirror. It seemed more vibrantly red than ever. Sighing, she pulled the new clothes on, and her robe, before striding from her room, chi up, looking for all the world as if nothing in that room had been out of the ordinary.
Phoenix waited outside the door and bowed her head slightly at Mara when the princess exited. She gave her highness a smile and gestured her head, "Shall we gk now?"
Vincent sighed under his breath, giving Valerie an annoyed glare.
”And you are from Setriutan? You’re with that psychotic sorceress?” he asked simply, not hiding the fact that he had weapons on him as his knife was present in his right hand.
"My lady is not psychotic," were the first words that flew out of Valerie's mouth. However agitated they might have sounded, the actual magician herself was quite calm, "But yes I am from Setriutan. I suppose it would also be smart to mention my orders are to kill you, but I would like to give you another chance."
Vincent raised a brow.
”Care to explain?” he requested, not holding up each of his weapons just in case what the girl said was true. He did not want to start making enemies soon.
“While I trust my sorceress’s judgement completely, the call to kill you on sight seems off even for her,” Valerie responded calmly. She still had her restraining spell at the ready, “I want to know why she is so insisting on killing you, besides the obvious reason, before I cast judgement upon you. Or preferably take you to her so she can do it herself.”
(Heya people— I’m going to be taking a break from notebook a bit. I’ll be back in a few days ;3;)
(Guess who’s back from being dead for a week)
Vincent sighed with rolled eyes.
”Say I’m overreacting but you can kill me here and now and I would be happier than if you were to take me to that ‘Great Sorceress’ of yours. Besides—“ he flipped the knife like he was playing with it ”—that dress wouldn’t have been hers if it wasn’t for damn magicians back then. And now she treasures it like it was something a special someone gave to her… nonsense…”
While contradicting to his usual manner, Vincent was clearly annoyed with the situation he brought up. The dress he was referring to was mostly likely the one the Sorceress wore to royal events.
Valerie raised an eyebrow realizing which dress he was referring to. Even then his words made no sense to her. Her eyes glanced at the knife he was toying with before looking back at him, "The dress? Is all of this over some dumb dress? I highly doubt it."
”No, not just the dress—“ Vincent was quite relaxed with the conversation, even being able to lean against a tree while talking ”—it’s more about her messed up fantasy that one of yours told me about” he continued.
”Like, if she wants me to be with her, she could just tell me and not send some magicians to get my dead body to her only for her to resurrect and reimagine my mind, that’s fucked up”
Valerie scrunched her face up as Vincent continued to talk. She couldn't believe her lady would do such a thing, yet at the same time it sounded like something she would do. She quietly cast a truth spell on herself causing her eyes to glow though nothing happened physically other than a sigil appeared on her arm, "That, that is quite, as you put it, 'fucked up'. I don't believe my lady would do something like that though."
Vincent shrugged without much thought.
”I’m not here to debate, now tell me—“ he shot himself from his leaning position to stare at Valerie in the eyes ”—what are you going to do now? Kill me? Let me go? Take me to your so-called Sorceress? Your choice dear” he gestured to her, giving her true freedom in her choice. He had something in mind as to he wanted to do, whatever the choice was.
Valerie stared right back at him. Her mind fought with itself as to what she should do and as far as she could tell he was speaking the truth in giving her the option to choose. She kept her book open and let out a sigh, "I haven't decided yet. Though I, personally, am not going to kill you."
Vincent, though expected that, was still surprised when she said it with such genuineness. He opened his mouth slightly, looking down and allowing his hair to cover his eyes.
”Thanks…” he spoke softly under his breath before looking back up at her.
He gave her a sincere and warm smile, tilting his head slightly.
Valerie nodded hearing his thanks. She didn't understand his movements of hiding his face, but at the very least he was sincere in his words. She closed her book with her hand and reattached it to her belt, "And I don't think I'll make my decision any time soon. I'm loyal to my lady, but you provided a decent argument for me to let you go. So I think I'll be sticking around you for sometime. Whether you want me to or not."
(I like how everyone is just staying with Vincent. This just goes to show how decent the kingdom rulers are lol)
Vincent was a bit skeptical with the request. Not that he did not trust this magician, but that he thought he might’ve had too many guests in his house. Whatever the case, he gave in.
”Sure, the living room’s a little crowded though—“ he mentioned, opening the door to find Wissian and Kreuger still inside while Varsha was gone.
”Make yourself home” he stated as he walked into the bedroom to find that Varsha had left. He did, though, notice the ring and the pendant that was left in the room. The pendant was his, he knew this, but the ring was not.
He picked it up, inspecting it for a bit before slipping it on. He began to hear something, as if the ring had granted him a link with someone…
”Hello?” he spoke softly.
(Lol for real tho.)
(I need to give Atruxiavir people something to do…)
”Uhm… excuse me, your majesty—“ one particular volunteer spoke up with her hand raised.
”—even if I want to help with the battle, I do lack capabilities in the fighting realm… would there be training for that soon? Or…” her voice was a bit shaky, perhaps because she was in the presence of her kingdom’s queen.
”How’s the investigation going?” one of the scouts asked.
”Nowhere, there’s no actually proof that the assassin was the one who killed them” the other answered honestly.
They were near where the bard was and it helped that they seemed to have more information on the topic than anyone else.
Varsha was still on her way to Atruxiavir, for some reason she just couldn’t stop thinking about the assassin. She thought finally after all these years she could have a chance to create a romantic relationship, even before she got the offer from the late king of Atruxiavir to be the babysitter for the princess 26 years ago, she doesn’t have a single male friend. She had thought that, once the princess grew up, she would be freed and continue on her journey, but no. The princess has the ability to control blood and when she was young she often lost control of her power. There were lots of times when Varsha trained the princess to control her power and almost got herself killed. And now the cute little princess has become the queen and she appointed Varsha to be a royal guard. Even though she wanted to decline the favor, she just couldn’t said it, in her eyes the queen was still a little girl that she adored. But whatever, now she just has to protect her queen and continue watching her grow, while she was doing that maybe she would find a cute interesting boy to be with her. The queen wouldn't mind anyway she thought and if the queen does mind Varsha would just going beg her.
The ring that she wore started glowing the message popped into her head, it was Vincent’s angelic voice, when Varsha left the house she created a communication ring for Vincent. The ring allows the wearer to communicate from their mind to the destination that the ring has been assigned to, which in this case the ring that she gave to Vincent allows him to be in touch with her.
”Oh… you actually wore the ring umm… you see, now you can have a chat with me through the ring.”
”Oh, by the way how things going that way”
(Oof right let me read through this)
”Nothin’ much, just that the magician who was after me decided to stay for a while” he answered truthfully from his perspective. Seems like he was going to have to talk with a lot of people, a lot more than he would’ve liked. That said though, he doesn’t exactly dislike this. He’s been lonely for too long after all, company sure sounds good.
Maerda smiled to the volunteer and reached out to take her hand. “Do not worry.” She soothed, calming the woman’s racing heart. “I would never allow my people to go into a war without training. As soon as my guard returns, we shall be personally training you all. I myself will be handling the more magical side of things, while Varsha will be tackling physical training.”
