Okay, so. The world is vaguely steampunk, vaguely magic, and airships are the main method of travel and trade nowadays because of some nifty worldbuilding making floating islands rich in resources a prime spot to live, with huge cities built upon them. Which means pirates, obviously. Sky pirates!
Anyways I'll expand on worldbuilding as I go, here are roles that need filling and generally what they do. Also, for the purposes of this roleplay, the crew have known each fiber and worked together for a while so they have a pretty large amount of trust for the most part and have carried out several jobs together, to the extent that most/all of them live on the ship for the most part. Anyways:
Captain (there can only be one! Generally makes all the tactical decisions and plots out their exploits. Sometimes owns the ship, sometimes not, and can be voted out at any time if the crew feels that their leadership is negative/incompetent in some way. Well, any time except for battle, of course.) This role goes to me, unfortunately for you all. I am so sorry.
Quartermaster/First Mate (also only one of this role. Can also be voted into or out of the position and generally handles things like the contract for the crew, supplies, and other such voyage arrangements as well as taking place as Captain if the Captain is wounded or killed in battle.) Taken by the lovely @callycats so this role is closed!
Ship's Doctor (up to two people in this role. Self explanatory.) Blossom, @WriteOutofTime (this role is now closed!)
Engineer/Mechanic (up to three. Also self explanatory.) @MosisIsTiredAndHasFinals_PlzHelp (two spots left!)
And the other crew members (self explanatory. Usually have some combat capability and help with menial tasks like cooking, cleaning, lookout, and steering the ship among other things. This role doesn't really have a limit but eventually I'll close the rp once enough have joined.)
There are three mediumish sized pirate friendly island ports they can visit, the largest of which belongs to the Pirate King (because plot reasons- this person doesn't have any legitimate power over others besides a really large fleet and incredible tactical skill, most pirates just respect this person a lot and will for the most part do what they say. This becomes plot relevant later) but ya know, whoever this mysterious person is they're not all bad.
Pirates were historically a lot more democratic because they didn't have any empire backing them, Captains were just people and their will could be defied in a mutiny so they generally try to make sure the crew is satisfied, so the shares of treasure they get are split mostly equally with people in specialized roles like Captain, Quartermaster/First Mate, Doctor, and in our case Engineer/Mechanic getting slightly more for their troubles, not enough for it to be unfair tho. So yeah! That's about it! Template to be posted when people join!
Wait also, RULES! READ THESE! ALL THE WAY THROUGH!
This roleplay is 13+ for strong language, violence, and possible inappropriate jokes. No explicit sexual content, guys, and just. Don't be jerks. Anyways keep it like Pg-13 to possibly R-Rated for like. Violence.
Don't be bigoted! All are welcome here and diversity is a strength!
Don't godmod/act overpowered/just. Mary Sues.
Don't be edgy or try to act just dark and horrible for the sake of attention and don't hoard the spotlight! Your characters can be more pessimistic or morally grey but don't make them edgelord assholes.
Don't bring real life drama in and don't be mean to players. If you have a grudge against someone here, leave it at the door or just don't even come inside the house and drive away.
I require a two-paragraph writing sample with both varied dialogue and descriptions of the environment/character's actions. I'll probably just let everyone join but like. It helps me know what to expect.
And have fun!
Just alert me to your joining and then either post your writing sample here or shoot me the link, and then let me know what role you want! If a role is closed I'll tell you but it would help if you backread what roles people have taken. I will edit the main post as people join but if I forget to just let me know and I'll handle it.
Another thing that would help is people posting their timezones and what times and days they tend to be online for scheduling purposes.
