"I grew up in wine country; for me, I have to try very hard to get drunk."
She got up again, she hated sitting still, she was always active in some way. Of course, it wouldn't be preferable to die on deck, but she was reckless anyway
"Sound like many ah fun night," Klaus said, squinting over at the dock once again. "If ya whant me to be honest, I had little trust fo' you when you firs' came aboard. All da sneakin' and spyin' sent me on edge."
"I don't blame you. I'm not someone who people really trust." Especially when he was on a job; anyone around him could die then.
"But you got some pirate in you yet," he said, giving the man a friendly cuff on the shoulder before pushing off from the railing. "I gotta man the wheel so we don't sink in da harbor. You're welcome to join me."
"I think I'll take you up on that." Phillip wasn't one who usually was this friendly with people, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to make an ally or two.
"Might need an extra set of hands, too," he said, walking up the stairs to the wheel. "Currents're a bit dicey around the dock some times."
It took almost two hours, but finally they managed to get the ship positioned and tied down to the dock. Klaus was drenched in sweat and looked bone tired from wrestling with the wheel, yet he still helped tie the knots onto the ship to keep it stable.
"And…" he said, rubbing his bloodied hands against his pants, "There! Good work, boys!"
Phillip leaned against the railing, hair a mess and face flushed.
"It's finally over," he said, exhausted from helping Klaus as best as he could.
"The benefit of helping me wit all of dis," he said with a grin, "is that we're da firs' off da ship. I got a place close by with da bes' rum. Guarantee it'll beat any wine you've evah tasted."
kirimi emerged from her office, just above the main deck, her eyes wandering over the harbour. her shirt was still bloody, but she seemed much better than before - almost unnaturally better.
