“No. Not yet.” Carrio stamped another book and put it on thr cart.
“No. Not yet.” Carrio stamped another book and put it on thr cart.
"Then have this." Indra said, offering a piece for cheesecake to Carrio.
Carrio glanced up over his glasses. “Mmm, no thanks. You can have it if you’d like.”
"I don't want it." Indra called.
Carrio looked down at it. It looked awfully good… he shook his head and continued stamping books, though the cheesecake sitting there taunted him.
"So. This place isn't thst busy." Indra said, dusting a few books with unusual prowess.
“Libraries are never busy anymore,” Carrio grunted, stamping with unusual fierceness.
"I know. It's quite a pain in the ass!" Indra said, adjusting his tie.
Carrio grunted in agreement and set the book down lightly. “Indeed it is. Indeed.”
Indra went back to work. Thinking about the events that unfolded yesterday. He had seen Carrio use magic. Of course. Carrio was a rather peculiar man, in a good way, so he could see how Carrio had learnt it. He was just trying to find a way to tell Carrio about his own secrets.
Carrio finished with the new arrivals and pushed the cart out from the counter and to the shelves. He started shelving them and humming gently, tapping his fingers.
"You got everything?" Indra asked, finishing his dusting. He started to help Carrio.
Carrio was shouldering multiple books. “I got it, thank you…” He reached up and slid them into a shelf neatly.
REEEEEEEEEEEEE
Shall we continue?
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YES
Indra walked over to Carrio, turning him around.
"I didn't want to be overly foreward about this, Carrio… But…" He takes a deep breath. I saw you doing magic earlier…"
Carrio gave him a look and piled books up in his arms. "I have no idea what you're talking about." He turned back around and slid them into their shelves.
"The word 'Sana!' doesn't sound familiar to you?" Indra asked.
Carrio ignored him and put books away in frosty silence. He grabbed more, sorting sorting sorting.
Indra rolled up his left sleeve to the elbow, and took off his left glove, revealing his demonic arm.
"Carrio, I know we don't know each-other well, but if you'd look, you'd know you don't hsve to hide who you are from me." Indra said, sensing a visible and self-confessing change in Carrio.
Carrio glanced over. He didn't flinch away, nor did he cringe.
"Humph. Fine. I am a Spellcaster who works with Latin words. Happy?"
Indra's face softened, and he rubbed his chin with the back of his demon limb. It, like all of his other lumbs, was very long, somewhat muscular, and contained joins at the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers. That, was where it differed. Red scales covered it, except for the joints, which had bands of rubbery turquoise skin around them. On the tip of each digit, was a curved, cruel black claw.
He re-gloved his hand, and rolled his sleeve down again.
"Exceptionally so." Indra said.
Carrio grabbed more books. He seemed oddly tranquil with his Demon limb. He just continued sorting books, humming and occasionally rubbing dust off of spines.
Indra started to sort his own pile of books, looking back at Carrio.
"You seem awful uppity today." He said, as politely as possible, without trying to seem like a smug jackass.
Carrio grunted. "I just want to get work done." He didn't want to be too standoffish, but he didn't like talking about his magic.
