Not a chance. It felt as if someone was twisting her gut into a painful knot, each breath she took hurt. What if he asked her again after tonight? And she was dragged along? What if he got drunk one night? What if he tried to touch her? To kiss her? To unclothe her, even? She would be powerless. And the thought absolutely terrified her.
“Sure, why not?”

@Desvelarse pets

Lucian had grinned happily at her agreement. “Really?” He asked again. He had been so anxious to ask her, worrying she would say no and call him crazy.

Morrigan couldn’t bear it; the happiness in his eyes. She was bound to let him down, bound to hurt him. But there was no way out of it now.
“Just—“ She hesitated briefly, a hint of nervousness flashing over her features. “No- No guarantees for the future, okay?”

@Desvelarse pets

Lucian’s smile faltered at that. “Morrigan, are you really sure you want to do this? You don’t need to lie to make me happy. I’ll be fine wjth sticking as friends,” he told her slowly.

@blue_topaz

His smile fell— and that was if for her. Against her will, Morrigan found herself shaking her head vigorously. “No, it’s not that! I just meant that we met recently, and neither of us know eachother too we’ll get. I’m sorry— I’m not good at this.”

@Desvelarse pets

“Are you sure? About all this?” Lucian asked. He could practically feel the anxiety coming off if her. He was sure that if he took her pulse, it would be very quick.

@blue_topaz

“Yeah, I’m sure. Don’t worry about it, I just haven’t been on a date in forever, so if I’m nervous that’s probably why,” she reassured him, the lie rolling easily off her tongue as her gut clenched.

(Good afternoon!)

Morrigan bit down on her bottom lip, inhaling deeply through her nose. “Anytime is fine by me.” Her voice held no trace of shakiness, which was surprising in itself judging by the fact that a dizziness had completely overtaken her.

@Desvelarse pets

(hey, afternoon!)

Lucian nodded his head at that. He took out his phone to check his calender. “Actually, I might be free later tonight,” he said.

@Desvelarse pets

(Good to hear)

“Theres a good resturant down the street. I can give you my number and text you the address, if you want,” Lucian said before looking at his watch. It was around 5 o’clock now. “How about 7:30?” He asked.

@blue_topaz

(you too)

His… his number. The thought only spread the nausea further throughout her stomach. If he had her number, he could contact her at any time. "Sure, sounds great." Hands moving against her will, Morrigan pulled her phone from her back pocket.

@Desvelarse pets

Lucian nodded his head, taking his phone out as well. After exchanging numbers, he put his phone away again. “Great. I’ll text you at around 6:30?”

@Desvelarse pets

“Me too. I’ll see you later, then,” Lucian said with a warm smile before stepping away. He felt a bit proud of himself for working up the courage to ask her out to dinner.

@blue_topaz

Morrigan raised a hand in farewell and turned away. As soon as her face was out of his line of vision, the casual, happy veneer crumbled, leaving behind an expression of pure fear.

(skip to the dinner?)

@Desvelarse pets

(Yeah, sure)

Lucian had pulled up to the resturant. He parked his car and walked out across the lot towards the building. His nerves were buzzing with a bit of nervousness.

@blue_topaz

Morrigan stared at her reflection, disgust twisting her stomach. She looked awful— not that she didn’t usually, but now that she’d tried on a bit of winged eyeliner? Lucian would hate it, an idea that she was conflicted about. On one hand, if he found her ugly, he might not pursue her. But on the other… she didn’t know what he could do to her out of disgust.

Which was why she had decided to dress up, just a little, so he wouldn’t get mad or upset at her for not trying. Her hair was down, as usual, but she’d replaced her black ripped jeans with a nice pair of dark leggings and swapped her leather jacket for a lacy top that (of course) covered her arms and most of her chest. Not much scarring could be seen besides what she couldn’t cover, which was good, but what was not good was how horrible she looked.

Finally, Morrigan gave up. Screw it. I’m going to be late. With trembling hands, she grabbed her purse, ran out the door, and was slowing to a stop outside of the restaurant in less than ten minutes.

@Desvelarse pets

Lucian had stepped inside and gave the hostess the his last name for the reservation he had said. He nodded his head when he was told to wait just a minute. He adjusted the colar to his white button down. Morrigan didn’t seem to be there yet, but it was fine, he told himself.

He had done his best to fix himself up. He had fixed his usually slightly messy hair and wore the long sleeved button down and a set of black slacks. He stuffed his hands into his pockets after nudging up his glasses, shifting his weight as he waited.

Morrigan pushed open the door of the restaurant, her heart in her throat. She caught sight of Lucian immediately, barely a few metres away, and dread was instantly filling her from head to toe. Smile, goddammit. It was easier said than done, but she managed well, approaching him ‘shyly’.
