“I’ve got an hour,” she replied, her eyes darting around the cafeteria. “But I wanted to review some of my notes.”
“I’ve got an hour,” she replied, her eyes darting around the cafeteria. “But I wanted to review some of my notes.”
Lucian nods his head and smiled a bit. “Alright. You can go if you want,” he hummed as he sat up a bit in his chair.
After a moment of indecision, she cleared her throat and stood, smiling. “Thanks for the lunch. I’ll— I’ll see you around?”
Lucian got up as well, tossing his trash into a nearby trashcan. “You’re welcome. Yeah, I’ll see you later. This was fun,” he hummed.
Morrigan nodded, unsure whether or not her reply was a lie or not. “Yeah. See you!”
(Skip?)
(Yeah, sure. When should we skip to?)
(when could they next meet?)
(maybe they could meet out in public somewhere?)
sure, like where?
(Uhh, oh okay hold on different idea. Lucian could run into Morrigan later that evening on campus and ask her out to dinner or something)
(Ooh sure
Like, platonically, or as a date?
Warning: Morrigan may panic a bit
Also: sorry I haven’t been writing her very well, I feel like her voice is too passive and the symptoms of her past aren’t prominent enough. I’ll fix it, promise)
(He would probably want to as a date. And it’s all good, you’re doing good)
(Great xD
Thanks, and sorry again
Want me to start? )
(Its all good, and sure)
(Alright)
Morrigan drew the zipper of her leather jacket all the way up to her chin, shivering slightly as the dusk cast a chill over the university campus. She paused by the fountain in be middle, watching the last rays of the dying sun slip beneath the horizon.
Lucian was walking across campus to his dorm from an evening class. He had his coat zipped up, the air growing cold as the sun went down. He made his way towards the fountain, which he had to pass by anyways.
Morrigan caught sight of a familiar face from across the quad, making his way towards her. Lucian. She bit down on her lip, hard, turning back to the sunset. A silent prayer that he didn’t notice her went through her head— this was the one moment of peace she’d had all day and interaction would only shatter it.
Lucian slowed when he noticed Morrigan by the fountain. In his mind, he thought that she looked beautiful standing there as the sun set. But she didn’t appear to want to talk.
He slowed, nearing her, and her heartbeat sped up. Not because he was ridiculously handsome or anything, but because the last thing she wanted to do was talk and make an embarrassing fool of herself in front of the one person who thought she was normal. But she knew how rude e would think her if she ignored him, so she cleared her throat and uttered a greeting. “Hey, Lucian.”
Lucian stepped over to her, hands stuffed into his pockets after he had adjusted his glasses. “Hey, Morrigan,” he said. “Enjoying the sunset?” He asked, a friendly smile on his lips
"Yeah," she replied, not as smoothly as she'd hoped. Morrigan tried for a smile, forcing her eyes to stay on Lucian instead of gluing themselves to the ground.
Lucian glanced away, looking towards the setting sun for a moment before looking back at Morrigan. “It is nice looking tonight,” he commented. There was a beat of silence before he spoke up again. “Are you seeing anyone?”
Morrigan's eyes widened, heart stumbling over a beat or two. "N-No, why do you ask?"
Lucian smiled a bit more at that. “Well, I wanted to know if you wanted to go out to dinner with me.”
Morrigan blanched, freezing where she stood. Shit. Shit. What am I supposed to say?? How could she possibly say yes, when the thought of a date filled her with anxiety? But at the same time, how could she possibly say no, and risk angering him? If she agreed to go out on a date, he could take it like she was promising herself to him— and if one thing led to another, she could end up— No. Morrigan cut off the thought abruptly, hastily plastering a nervous smile on her face, as if she was surprised, but shy. “Me?”
