“How would you know?” She said coldly. “You don’t know hardly anything about what’s happened to me since we stopped being friends. You don’t have any idea who I’ve because and how I’ve been hurt.” Solace stood up and briskly walked to where her bedroom would be until they reached the moon. She quickly shut the door behind her and leaned on the wall. She couldn’t relive those memories. Not now. Maybe not ever.
Jade leaned back in her chair. She allowed herself to drift into slumber, hoping that this would be over soon.
Jade smelled blood and pus and vomit. It was her own. She cradled the child in her arms, trying to soothe it. The child's screams echoed, they lingered in her ears. Jade sang a lullaby, her voice weak. The screams turned into wails, which turned into scared whimpers. Silence. The child was dead, hanging limp in Jade's arms. Jade screamed curses, she sobbed and tore at her own flesh in despair. When would the torture end? But maybe if she felt enough pain, this would have been a bad dream. She would wake up with her baby, safe and sound. But it wasn't a dream. It would never be a dream.
Jade woke up. They had landed. She stood up, still shaking. The dreams were getting more vivid now. The memories she had suppressed were resurfacing.
Solace walked out of her room and towards the door to head outside. She wanted to look around her new home, and get used to it.
(Gtg for the night!)
(Bye!) Jade casually tripped Solace and walked past, smirking.
Solace regained her balance and walked outside.
“Home sweet home” She said.
"Are you trying to get me to kill you?" Jade asked.
“Nope. You could maybe cool it with the threats though. I took pity on you. The least you could do is return the favor and knock it off” Solace responded.
"Never. I already tried to kill you several times and I won't stop trying."
“Can’t you see that the way you treated me when we were younger was worse than killing me? Can’t you see that I still care about you and decided to give you a second chance? I could have made your punishment much worse than this, but I didn’t. I did it for you. Stop being so damn selfish!” She practically screamed at Jade.
"I would rather die than spend the rest of my life with you."
“Should have thought about that before you screwed yourslef over”
"You will never understand why I did the things I did, khari*" Jade said, looking away. She tried to not show any emotion, but hints of regret flashes across her face.
*Khari is a term that teachers call their less intelligent students. It roughly translates into "Dunce".
“Then help me understand. Treating me like garbage after everything we went through as children, it just doesn’t make sense…” she train off.
"I can't make you understand. Even if I…… but I wouldn't." Jade said.
“I’m not a little kid anymore you know. I grew up a while ago. I matured too quickly, and I became a parent at 10. I think I can handle it. So stop treating me like a child so can’t do anything” she snapped.
"I refuse to show you anything." Jade said.
“Whatever. Maybe grow up a little yourslef Jade.” She said and turned back to the ship and went inside to grab her things.
Jade sat down underneath a tree, waiting for Solace to come back.
Solace came back out with a few suit cases and sat them on the ground. She popped one open and pulled out a button, the presses it a set it on the ground. A large house popped out from the button and was instantaneously sitting on the ground before them, Fully furnished. She closed the suitcase and took them in the house.
"If you were trying to impress me, you failed." Jade said. She sat down in one of the chairs.
“Why would I impress you. I have no reason to. I’m just using the modern technology I was supplied with. Not everything is about you.” Solace replied, rolling her eyes. “Get over yourself. Your not all that sweetheart”
"I can tell you want something from me." Jade said.
“And what would that be may I ask?” She said, raising an eyebrow.
"You tell me. You obviously want me to tell you more about my tragic past as means to manipulate me and regain a friendship. But it won't work." Jade scoffed.
“Who says I want friendship? Just because I care and I put others before myself doesn’t mean I want to be friends.”
