Sure!))
Sure!))
(To when?)
(Maybe Gwen can take her down to the farms to try and get their minds off what just happened?)
(Yeah, sure!)
(Great! Should they talk first? Or should we start at the farm?)
(Farm, ig? Would you mind starting?)
(Np! One sec)
Gwen didn’t think she’d ever get used to the smell of manure. But here they were, at the very beginning of the large farmlands. Rolling meadows sprawled outwards, small buildings dotting the hillsides. The the distance a large forest claimed the edge of the skyline. “Alright, here we are!” She forced a little extra enthusiasm into her voice. “What do you want to see? The creatures or the animals?”
“What’s the difference?” Maria asked, doing her best to sound marginally less numb than what had become normal for her over the past few days. She allowed her eyes to skin the horizon, taking in the rolling fields.
“Uh… well. Do you want to pet a cow or a peryton?” Gwen smiled at Marla, feeling more comfortable in this natural setting.
“A…. pery-what?” Marla blinked, her head listing to one side to express her confusion.
“A peryton? I er— I think you need to see one, they’re sort of hard to explain. They’re real sweethearts though.” Gwen started heading towards the forest in the distance.
Marla trailed after, feeling a bit like a lost dog. “Alright…”
“Okay… they’re pretty easily spooked so try not to make to much noise. They should come up to you on their own in a bit.” Gwen lead Marla into a forest clearing, sitting down in the middle. Rustling could be heard above in the trees.
Marla nodded slowly, pushing her hair out of her eyes. "Noise won't be a problem…." she murmured, turning in a full circle to get a good look at the forest around her.
“Come sit.” Gwen softly patted the ground next to her. “This is where I come when I’m stressed sometimes.
Marla did as she was told, her body moving as if pulled by marionette strings. "It's… nice. Peaceful."
“Yeah… clears my head.” Gwen muttered, feeling weak in comparison to the horrors they’d witnessed earlier. “So you’ve never heard of a peryton before?”
Marla shook her head, entangling her fingers with Gwen’s and overlapping their legs slightly.
(I only found out about them like a week ago so here’s someone’s drawings of them which I think are the most accurate to what I’m thinking. You can ignor etheir notes though: https://pin.it/3wjhx42d23y3qq )
Gwen paused as she heard rustling in the branches, her eyes lighting up. “Hold on. I think they’re coming.” She whispered excitedly.
(Oh dw, I know what they are, Marla just doesn’t
Cool pin, tho 😊)
Marla did her best to muster some excitement, following Gwen’s line of site.
(I waste so much time on Pinterest lmao)
One flew down from the trees. A fawn with elegant sparrow-like wings. It landed towards the edge of the clearing, warily taking a few steps towards the girls. Gwen broke into a wide smile.
(Same tho)
For a moment, Marla’s face was alight with childish wonder, her pained features softening. “Whoah…”
Gwen lightly squeezed Marla’s hand and grew a few dandelions at their feet. She ripped them up, handing the clump to Marla. “They like to eat them. Hold it out and it’ll come over.”
Marla extended her arm, hand quivering slightly as she held the yellow flowers out to the elegant creatures up ahead. “They’re so beautiful…”
