(BACK!)
She only rolled her eyes, and motioned for him to follow him into the shotty apartment. All there was, was a mattress on the floor, a milk crate with comic books in it, and a small cooler in the closet. On top of it was a microwave. The ceiling had cracks in it, and she barely even had electricity, and she had to mess with the wiring in the wall to steal from others, and she had no water what so ever.
Pierce glanced around the small apartment, a small frown on his face, but he didn’t comment on the well being of her house.
She handed him the stick on stars, looking up at the ceiling. "Just put them wherever you think looks good." She headed over to the mini fridge, grabbed a soda, and sat on the mattress.
Pierce smiled at her and nodded, “Of course, Starla,”. He began sticking on the ceiling, making some in the shape of constellations.
She watched him work, and grabbed her backpack, pulling out a map of the stars, making sure they were accurate. She'd correct him here and there on star placement.
Pierce listened to Starla’s directions and carefully placed the stars in every place she told him. When he ran out, he smiled up at the ceiling, then turned to her, “Done!”
"Looks good. Uhm…thanks? You want a soda? I have pepsi, coke a cola annnnd…7UP. Need to get more soon though."
“I’ll take a coke, thanks.” Pierce responded, “Umm, if you don’t mind me asking…how long have been living here?”
"Couple weeks. Not to long." She handed it over him. "I'll be skipping town again soon. Gotta keep moving."
Pierce open the coke and took a drink, thinking, “Is that so? Well, do you have a final destination?”
(What Starla said kinda makes for a good plot. They could possibly grow close(as friends, I want to take romance slowly), and when Starla leaves, Pierce decides to go with her?)
(AH yis. Except she's sort of trying to murder her brother sooooo….and yus slow burn romance. I'm here for it) "Maybe." She shrugged, taking another gulp.
(Oops, haha)
Pierce sighed at her unclear answer, “And what would that be?” He asked, feeling curious.
"Not here." She answered ambiguously, rolling her eyes as she dug through her backpack for her phone, and plugged it into the wall to charge.
Pierce didn’t respond for a moment. He wondered what to say next, “Okay then…So Starla how many times have you moved around?”
"Since I was 13. I'm 25 now…sooo probably into the hundreds by this point. Barely stay anywhere more than a month, move around more during the warmer months."
“Dang that’s a long time. Do you have any family?” Pierce responded, “Sorry I’m bombarding you with all these questions, we can change the topic if you’d like.” He added with a smile.
"I have a brother." She said, in the same stand offish tone she had been using for every question he had been asking, as she sat on the bed, scrolling through her phone. "I'd like to be left alone. If I make connections, then I get attached. If I get attached then people beg me to stay. I hurt people. Better to just be on my own. Sure, I've brought friends on my travels. They always meet some love of their life, or end up settling, leaving me to be alone again."
Pierce opened his mouth to reply but then shut it again, he had not expected Starla to tell him all that. He sighed and stood up, heading to the door, “I’ll leave you alone for now, if you want to hang out or talk, you know where to find me. I really think we’d be good friends, you and I. But that’s really your decision.” He smiled, “See you later, Starla.”
(So since Starla definitely won't go after him, they keep accidentally meeting eachother and she keeps getting more and more frustrated with seeing you everywhere and then…I dunno. Maybe she yells at him, maybe she only goes to run her small errands at night, staying mostly locked away in her apartment and then…yeah.) "Ha, friends. All of them are dead, or have settled somewhere. Usually both. I've watched a lot of them die. Being my friend is dangerous." She says, not caring at all.
(Works for me. Shall we do a time skip to maybe a week later when she has been avoiding him for a couple days and he comes to talk to her?)
(I'm thinking she's like, ya know shopping or whatever. She definitely pick pockets peoples wallets. And they meet up, and like an hour later they see eachother in the library and the next day he sees her going into the comic shop, and ya know…like that)
(Okay, that works)
Pierce quietly hummed to himself as he checked his grocery list and picked up things he needed, it was a Saturday morning, meaning he didn't have work, which also meant it was time for him to get food for the week.
Starla walked right past Pierce, and while he was distracted she fished his wallet out of his back pocket, and kept walking. She tossed the wallet to the ground, taking out all the dollar bills she found, stuffed it in her hoodie pocket, and turned down the aisles. She hadn't even noticed it was Pierce. Just grabbed the cash and walked away. That was another thing about friends. They could always tell when she stole their cash and pick pocketed them, with or without noticing. With strangers, they couldn't do much when she nabbed some cash.
