Atiya shook some girl's hand. What was going on? This girl Joanna (what color hair does she have?) was now shaking her hand and introducing herself as part of the British intelligence.
Though Atiya was born during the Mughal Empire, she knew a sizable amount about the British Empire, at least more than New York or as citizens called it, the USA. The British Empire was always known on the seas, and there had been many periods in time where she could loot their ships. When her uncle was teaching her the secret art of traveling through time and universes (in that era, traveling through time was just as secret as through universes, though it's not quite like that in the 2000s), she often watched as her uncle bravely took over British, French, and Portuguese ships. Ah, the good old days.
But now this girl Joanna was shaking the hand of hers that wasn't occupied with shopping bags.
"What?" Atiya asked bluntly. "Why are you shaking my hand? What is happening?"

(@TopazWyrmlet~ I dunno, @MusicalFate and I were talking and I built it along the way. The concept's loosely based on a few different books I read, but I tried to make everything different, so now it's weird :P.)

@blue_topaz

(it's cool!)

Cadence saw a girl shake hands with her Captain, and she instinctively reached for her knife before pulling back and calming herself down. She's not in danger, and she can take care of herself, Cadence.

@LavenderOnATrain

"I'm sorry to startle you. I'm here on a business inquiry. However, my matter is rather urgent. Allow me to assist you with your bags," she offered the woman.

@MusicalFate

Connell and his crew had set sail for Modern day New York. He needed more information and the more well-informed pirates usually made modern day New York their, for lack of better words, hangout. He had so far not told anyone on the ship about the map. The only people who knew about the map and the treasure, as far as he knew, were the old lady and himself. He was about to head down to the hold, when he heard his first mate shouting. Tucking the map back into his belt, he ran toward the chaos that was his ship. "What's going on?" He demanded. "We're almost there. What's our plan of action?" His first mate may not have all the information, but she definitely knew something was happening. "Stay on the ship." He directed, "I will take a few men to complete our business and come back." His fist mate gave him a sharp nod before returning to work, shouting out orders as she went.

Atiya looked at the British Embassy agent, confused.
"You want my bags?" she asked, getting more concerned. "Hold on, " she said. She glanced at her ship and caught Cadence's very concerned eyes, motioning for Cadence to walk on over.
"Well, tell me, does this have something to do with my ship? I assure you, we have done no wrongs," she said. "But if you do not wish us harm, it is nice to meet you."

@blue_topaz

Cadence caught this and turned to Milo. “Watch Becca And Beni, Ill be right back.” With that, she sprang forward, easily clearing the ten meters from the ship to the dock and landing next to her Captain. She crossed her arms protectively.

@Natasha

Becca sat up. "Milo? Watch us? How old do you think I am? Five?" She said, more to the air then to Cadence as she lept away.

@blue_topaz

Cadence looked over the girl standing before them, analyzing her. How much of a threat could she prove to be? The sun cane out from behind a cloud, bright light bouncing off of her silver horns and fifteen pieces of shiny jewelry (triple piercings, nose oercing, cartilage piercing, armbands, necklace), blinding any onlookers.

@StarrySplitdeath

Milo groaned. "I'm perfectly capable of watching people, Becca!" Argh, Atiya was so late again. Maybe if she'd let him help for once instead of insisting on his safety on the boat. She had spouted some nonsense about how his blue tattoos all over would attract unwanted attention, and he had grumbled in return.
He watched Cadence as she ran towards their captain. He leaned towards the dock.
"I totally want to hear what they're saying…" he sighed, turning over once more to nap.

@StarrySplitdeath

Atiya nodded to Cadence as she came springing over, and tried to grin at the stranger over the blinding light that reflected off Cadence's jewelry.
She reached for her bags, turning towards her ship. "Follow me, miss… Jo, was it?"

@StarrySplitdeath

(@TopazWyrmlet that's not frightening at all XD)

(Ah wait Joanna said she was inquiring about 1923 London)
"So, Miss Jo, how do you suppose we get to 1923?" asked Atiya, a knowing glint in her eye. "And how do you suppose I know how to get there?"

@LavenderOnATrain

"The British government keeps tabs on any unregistered ship that's found in our naval ports. We are in the midst of a war, Captain, and I descend from a very knowledgeable ancestry line. Your present is my future, Captain, surely I am well informed of it."

@blue_topaz

Cadence tilted her head so that the sun caught the razor sharp tips of her horns, making them glint threatenengly,. She took out a long dagger, studying it.

Sera leaned against the hull of the ship, wondering what was taking so long to repair it.

@StarrySplitdeath

Atiya glanced at her first mate. "There's no need to frighten her," she said to Cadence, but she couldn't tell if that was what Cadence was trying to do. She was sure the satyr's gleaming piercings were blinding the stranger, and though as a pirate she usually supported intimidation, this member of the British Intelligence seemed very interesting.
Atiya turned to the side, walking towards her ship, her home, with complete faith that the two would follow.
"I'll let you know this is my future as well," Atiya said offhandedly. "Now, which war do you talk of?"

@blue_topaz

Cadence sighed, knowing her Captain was right, and sheathed her knife, springing the ten meters between the ship and the dock. She landed nimbly, setting down the plank for the others to walk over.
