"Why, 'cause it's cold?" Madeline asked, glancing back at him over her shoulder.
"Why, 'cause it's cold?" Madeline asked, glancing back at him over her shoulder.
"Yeah. And it could rain." He said, looking up at the darkening clouds.
Madeline looked up and frowned. "Aw, man. That's not cool," she complained softly.
Cameron sighed. "I estimate we have about……..twenty minutes maybe? Then we can go to the library!"
"All right…" Madeline sighed. "I suppose the library is okay. I mean, I'll miss the park, but…books…"
Cameron smiled at his friend's cuteness. "Okay Maddi."
Madeline looked back down at Cameron, seeing him smiling at her. "What? What's with the smile?" she asked, not being able to help the smile that started to form on her own lips.
Cameron looked away. "No reason."
"No, no there's always a reason," Madeline argued. After a short moment, she shrugged. "But whatever. If you don't wanna talk about it, then we don't have to."
Cameron back over at Madeline. "Mads, there's no significant reason, okay? I'm not trying to make you feel bad by not telling you, but I have my reasons and don't feel the need to voice them." He explained.
"Really, it's okay," Madeline assured Cameron with a small smile. "I was just curious. I really did mean it when I said that we don't need to talk about it."
Cameron sighed. "Madeline….you're making me feel bad now…." He groaned.
"I'm being serious!" Madeline laughed a bit. "I really, truly do mean that! I wasn't trying to subtly convince you to tell me, I promise. I was just trying to tell you that it didn't matter why you were smiling at me and I was just curious. Seriously."
Cameron groaned again. "I've been injured…." He said dramatically, putting his hand over his heart.
Madeline scoffed and swatted playfully at his arm.
"Stop it, you dork," she chuckled. "Let's finish our walk before we get drenched."
(This is sssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooo cccccccccccuuuuuuuuuuutttttteeeeeeeeee)
Cameron nodded and followed Madeline.
(Isn't it?!? And they're completely oblivious! XD I love it!!!)
Madeline fell back a couple of steps to walk beside Cameron. She looped her arm through his, simply being friendly, and laid her head against his shoulder.
"It's nice to just hang out with you every once in a while," she said softly. "It feels like we never get to do this anymore. We're always busy, what with work and school and such…"
Cameron sighed, laying his head on top of hers. "I'm sorry. I should clear up more of my schedule. I've been so busy that I didn't even realize how little time I was spending with you."
"It's fine, Cam. I understand that you're busy. I am, too, after all. Gosh, college and being adults has made life so…hectic," Madeline sighed, tightening her grip slightly on her friend's arm.
Cameron chuckled. "Yeah. I need an adult who can adult better than me to take over my life for a little while…." Cameron said.
Madeline giggled. "Yeah, same here. It's hard. I miss our simple childhood."
"Amen to that." Cameron muttered.
Madeline sighed, smiling. Suddenly, something wet landed on her nose, and she reluctantly removed her head from Cameron's shoulder. She looked up at the sky, right before another drop landed on her forehead.
"Hey, it's raining!" she laughed, tugging on Cam's arm to get him to walk faster. "Hurry up, let's go!"
Cameron laughed as she followed her, jogging to his car.
Madeline speed-walked to her car as quickly as she could, giggling about the rain. She unlocked her car and shook her hair out before sliding in.
"I'll meet you at the library!" she shouted to Cameron before closing her door.
