Toby stood around his friends, running a hand through his messy blond hair as he looked around. Everyone was already in their groups. Populars. Artists. . . singers. He looked over at the kids holding guitars and sheets of music. God, I wish I could be there. . .
His friend's voice broke through his thoughts. "Hey, Toby! We heard that Abby and Ryan broke up last week. She's single." Elijah said in a singsong voice as he nudged Toby's shoulder playfully.
"Uh. . . I guess." He shrugged and slipped his hands back into his hoodie's pockets. Everyone wanted to date Abby. She was pretty and popular. It seemed like that was all people cared about these days.
