Henry nodded giving a small hum. ”Ok.”

She turned around letting go of her husband's hand and walking backwards to face Henry

Henry raised a brow at her actions. ”Yes?” he asked, chuckling.

"cant I look at my favorite person in the whole world" she said

Henry smiled. ”I would have thought that would be your husband or your kids. Not the guy who didn't treat you the best when we were dating.”

"but who was with me when I had my surgery ?" She said lysander had to go off with Evan and Betty had to have surgery

Henry cast a quick glance over at Ly before answering. ”You know he would have been there if he could've.”

”I don't need you to defend me.” Lysander said softly.

Henry shrugged. ”Maybe… but that doesn't make what I said wrong.”

"He had things to do " she said

Lysander gave her an apologetic look. ”I am sorry I wasn't there.” he told her, still feeling a little bad about it.

”What was the surgery for?” Evan asked since he didn't remember anything about this except for needing Lysander’s help.

"oh I went out hunting and I got attacked and got beaten up pretty badly" she said

”Beat up by what?” Evan asked, knowing there were only so many things that could send someone like Betty to the hospital.

"just something" she said giving Henry a look

Henry put his hands up in surrender. ”Don’t look at me. I have no idea what it was.” he said. ”I just took Betty to the hospital and stayed with her during the surgery.”

"Yeah. . ." Betty said turning back towards the front

Evan frowned a little, planning to look into what may have attacked her, but nodded. ”Ok… Well, I guess as long as you were taken care of then it's in the past.”

When Betty didn't say anything Tyler walked up and put her arms around her" hey it's okay" she said

Lysander looked at her in worry. ”Angel? Are you alright?” he asked softly.

"She's fine" tyler said

Lysander glanced at Tyler for a moment before looking back at Betty. ”Whatever it is, love, it's alright.”

”She probably doesn't want to talk about it anymore.” Henry offered.

"It was a horrible time for imagining being beaten horribly and the person you love not being there and not returning for weeks" she said stroking Betty's hair

Lysander winced, feeling worse about it. ”I tried to come back as soon as I could. I’m sorry it took so long.”

”Tyler… We all know what she went through growing up.” Henry pointed out gently. ”And as I said, I was with her during the surgery… I don't think we really need to keep talking about it, unless she wants us to.”

"It's honestly fine" Betty said "You guys weren't there when I grew up well actually Evan and Henry and Tyler were I was neglected and abused whenever I messed up he would burn me and then he pushed me in the lake and I was drowning and he was just watching smoking a cigarette no one cAred no one came to the rescue I was always saving people I don't expect it to be any different now"she said

Henry sighed, having suspected that she would say something like that. ”Bets, if I could go back in time and do things right, you know I would.”

Lysander stopped walking and stood in front of his wife. ”But it should be different now. I wish I had been there, and I’m very sorry I wasn't, because I would have protected you. I know that you can take care of yourself but…” he trailed off unsure how to finish.

'It doesn't matter" she said with a shrug

”Yes, it does.” he insisted gently as he pulled her into a hug. ”I should have been there.”
