She shook her head ¨can you take her again ¨ it was new years eve and everyone was coming over and everyone had to bring something but she had to cook still

”Alright.” Lysander smiled and took Laura-Beth. ”Come here, sweet girl.”

Laura-Beth squealed a little as he took her but nestled against his warm hold.

Betty kissed her daughter's head in her husband's cheek before walking away out of the room

He managed to quickly kiss her cheek before she left the room. ”Alright, sweet pea. You a little hungry or would you like to watch your favorite Princess movie?” he asked his daughter, smiling.

”Elsa! Elsa!” was her enthusiastic answer.

Betty had come back a few minutes later and started cooking and almost cussed when she burnt herself making Laurabeth Mac and cheese

Laura-Beth was thankfully distracted by the movie starting and didn't notice.

But Lysander’s sharp ears did. ”Do you need any help, darling?” he asked, a little concerned.

" no" she said quickly then sucking on her thumb to help reduce pain

He sighed softly and gave a small nod. ”Ok. If you're sure.”

Laura-Beth quickly shushed her papa with a big silly smile as she watched the movie.

A few more minutes Betty walked in and sat down with a little bowl full of Mac and cheese and a tiny spoon for Laurabeth

Laura-Beth clapped her hands a couple of times in excitement before she took the bowl.

Lysander smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

Laura-beth was only two so she couldn't completely hold a bowl and eat with a spoon and the Mac and cheese was really hot

Lysander carefully placed his hand under the bowl to keep it from falling over as the heat didn't bother him.

" can you feed her?" She asked

Lysander shrugged. ”I can. Will you hold her for me?”

”I wanna do it.” Laura-Beth pouted.

Betty shook her head " I'm sorry sweetie you'll make a mess and that's one more thing mommy will have to deal with" she said and suddenly the power went out leaving the house pitch dark

Laura-Beth screamed at the sudden darkness.

”What in the… What’s going on?” Lysander groaned.

" I don't know " Betty whimpered

Lysander removed his arm from her and summoned a small fireball in his hand to light up the area for her. ”It’s alright, love. I can check the power.” he assured her.

She shook her head " don't leave me please" her voice trembling

”Alright. I’ll stay.” he promised. ”You don't have to be scared. I’m right here.”

Betty nodded and looked at her daughter

Laura-Beth was curled up against her mom still a little scared but was watching the fire dance in her daddy's hand.

”It’s alright, baby girl.” Lysander smiled at their daughter.

Betty closed her eyes petting her daughter's head

Laura-Beth slowly calmed down thanks to Betty's actions. ”Mama? Daddy Elsa?”

Lysander choked back a laugh at the innocent question. He had almost expected it when he made the fireball just now.
