”I did talk to her but she didn't do anything but push me away and punch me in the jaw.” Henry said. ”I was running out of ideas. I’m sorry this one came to mind first.”
Lysander gave Henry a small glare before carefully bringing Betty back to the ground. ”It’s alright, angel. I’m here. I’ve got you.” he comforted.
She shook her head gripping onto him balling her eyes out
“I’m so sorry.” he said holding her close as he landed softly. ”It’s ok.”
She fell to the ground sobbing
He dropped to his knees still holding her gently.
" out of all days why would he do that when I'm already terrified why would he do the one thing I'm scared of" she said
He sighed and held her close. ”I don't really know, love.” he admitted. ”But what were you scared of before he… did that?”
" everyone I love dies " she looked up at him "why do you think I wasn't talking to you" she said
Lysander looked at her for a moment then shook his head. ”I thought you were just mourning for your brother.” he told her, slowly standing up. ”Come with me a moment. I have to show you something.”
She looked at him before nodding
He smiled softly at her and held out his hand to her.
She gripped onto his hand
He smiled at her and led her to a more private place.
Once they were far enough away but still with enough light, he started taking off his jacket and tie before unbuttoning his shirt.
She looked at him with a raised eyebrow
He smiled shyly at her, a little nervous, as he took off his shirt and showed her all the scars he had from his long life.
She took a step closer her fingers tracing lightly over the scars
”Betty, people have tried to kill me long before you were born.” he said gently. ”Front lines in Germany, Gettysburg, the Caribbean Sea… One time, the crew I was a part of, we all got so drunk that I willingly climbed into a canon and someone was actually going to shot me out of it.”
She looked up at him running her hand from his neck to his waist slowly " that doesn't stop me from worrying" she said
He nodded. ”I understand. It's normal for you to worry.” he told her, placing his hands on her shoulders. ”It’s just I don't die easily. In fact, of the two of us, you have died more times than I have… I should be more worried about losing you.” he reminded her gently.
" so there's this ceremony for the wolf's " she said
He nodded. ”Go on. You can tell me.” he encouraged.
" that's it" she said " but I'm required to go"
”They’re your family. I won't stop you from going.” he smiled gently at her. ”I don't suppose they would let your vampire of a husband come along, would they?”
