Evan decided to start off the day with a starbucks. Putting the keys in his car, he drove to the nearest store, which was one of the best in town. Perhaps putting himself in public places would help him meet his soulmate.
Pulling on her favorite jacket, Krystal ushered her sisters out the door and into the car. They came out, laughing and smiling, eager for school and seeing their friends. After dropping them off at school, she headed to the Starbucks down the street from where she worked. Thoughts of her soulmate were somehow the last thing on her mind.
Evan scanned every girl that came into the shop while he was waiting in line. Any one of them could be his soulmate. He looked for his tattoo on their bodies, but most were well covered (as it was november) and he couldn't find anything.
Walking into the shop, Krystal breathed in the smell of coffee. It was her favorite smell because it reminded her of her dad. She ordered a snickerdoodle hot chocolate and a muffin then went to sit down by the window. She pulled out her phone and earbuds and, putting only one in, she listened to music and let her mind wander.
Evan decided to stay in the shop for a while. He knew just how many girls came to Starbucks on November mornings. He rolled up his sleeves to his shoulders to show the tattoo, and sipped his coffee, looking around.
When she heard her name called, Krystal got up and headed over to the counter to get her drink. On her way back to her seat, she spotted a boy with his sleeves rolled up and a tattoo on his shoulder. She made eye contact with him just as she realized exactly what the tattoo was of.
A triangle with a large X cut through it.
Her eyes widened and she immediately turned away and walked as fast as she could without seeming crazy.
Evan saw a girl look at his tattoo and then speed-walk away. His eyebrows furrowed. She had to have had known it to have that reaction. Sliding a bill onto the counter, he took his drink and walked out after her.
Nope nope nope…
Krystal walked even faster, cursing how far her deceivingly close job was. She wove in and out of the crowd, hoping to lose the boy following her. Why did she have to find her soulmate today? Why did she have to find him at all?!
Evan wouldn't give up. Why wasn't she slowing down? He had good eyes, and with that hair, there was no losing her in the crowd. She was nearing a dead end, and she'd have to go somewhere.
Krystal nearly cried with relief when the boutique she worked at came into view. Ducking through the door, she immediately headed for the employee break room, hoping he wouldn't follow.
Dammit, now I'm trapped…
The girl ducked into the break room of a boutique. Puzzled, Evan hid behind some clothing racks, knowing that when she came out, he'd be sure to get her.
After putting her stuff up, putting on her name tag, and waiting a few minutes, Krystal hesitantly peaked out of the break room. Not seeing the guy, she carefully made her way over to some of the racks to tidy them up.
Not wanting to startle her, Evan cleared his throat behind the girl before making a move.
Krystal jumped back and nearly screamed. Her eyes widened when she saw the boy. Her supposed "soulmate."
She began to back away, ready to make a break for the bathroom to lock herself in.
"Hey - wait! Why are you running? I won't hurt you, I swear!" Evan put his hands up.
"Nope, no, nosiree," Krystal muttered, weaving through the racks. "I don't want to talk to you, please leave."

"But…" He rolled up his sleeve to show her the triangle with the X. "I think you know what this means."
(I'm oddly proud of myself)
Backing up a couple more steps, Krystal shook her head frantically. "And that is exactly why I want you to leave me alone," she said, hand automatically going to her hip, where her tattoo was located.
(I couldn't find it and I'm a Hufflepuff)
"What? But…" Evan's expression turned to that of a puppy dog (quite unintentionally) and his voice became saddened.
(XD)
"Look, I'm sorry," Krystal said, wrapping her arms around herself and closing her eyes. "But I don't want to be in a relationship with anybody, even my soulmate."
"But then…what am I supposed to do?" Evan got that look when he was about to cry. Despite his tall stature, he was really very fragile.
"I don't know, I don't know," Krystal said, her voice breaking as she kept her eyes scrunched shut. "I just- I just can't. I'm so, so sorry."
Evan turned around and sat behind the counter in silence, a couple tears starting to roll down his cheeks. God, he hated how fragile he was. "Can I at least get your name?" He asked, voice cracking.
