Evan woke up on his sixteenth birthday with an aura of excitement. He had always been the romantic, so this was a special day for him.
As soon as his alarm went off, he jumped out of bed and turned on the lights. He found his new tattoo on his shoulder, so he rolled up his sleeve to see. It was a triangle, with an large X cut across it. After staring at it for a moment, he shrugged to himself with giddiness. He couldn't wait to find his soulmate.

Krystal woke up on her sixteenth birthday with an aura of dread. She had never trusted relationships, so this was not a happily awaited day for her.
Before her alarm even went off, she was out of bed and pacing her room. She had found her new tattoo on her hip, so she pulled on a hoodie so she couldn't see it. It was a triangle, with a large X cut across it. After staring at the wall moment, she flopped on the bed full of trepidation.
