(it's taking me a bit longer than expected to get the setting fleshed out [working full-time, various covid crises, about to move back to campus for spring semester, yaddah yaddah] so I just wanted to update yall on that! we can always start without those aids but I don't want anything to be confusing to anyone so just let me know ^-^)

@ElderGod-Icefire

(heyy all. So…I can't view Pinterest images because of internet shit my parents do. So for those of you whose only thing in the "appearance" section is a link to a Pinterest image, I have no idea what your character looks like. So if it's not too much to ask, is it possible for you to share the images via Notebook or imgbb or something like that?)
(also I promise I'll get my characters up tonight but I've got to finish a final draft for a class)

@ElderGod-Icefire

(I uh, ended up making two characters? sorry not sorry lmao)

Name: John Oliver Corley (the III)
Nicknames: Usually goes by Oliver or Ollie
Age (14-18): 17
Gender: Cis male, he/him
Major (Creative Writing, Art, Animation, Film, Music, Architecture): Creative Writing
Wealth Status: Upper class
Where is this character from?: Has divided his time between NYC and London since he was a baby; as a result, has developed an odd accent that sounds half British and half American
Appearance: Oliver is 5'10", with a slender, lanky frame and a lot of angles. He has dark brown hair cut in curtain bangs, and pale grey eyes. He is white and rather pale, with a few light freckles dotted across the bridge of his nose and his cheekbones. Has a faint scar on the inner area of his right eyebrow, just beside his eye, and another small one just below the left side of his lips. Needs glasses in order to read (rather ironically) and so is often seen with a pair of round, rim-less glasses either on his face or hanging from the collar of his shirt.
Usual Clothing: White button-ups and vests, usually paired with dark wash jeans or slacks, and a pair of shoes. Sometimes tennis shoes, but usually a pair of white or black sneakers, or leather shoes. Always has a watch on, and usually some rings as well. (basically he looks rich and well-groomed like, all the time)
Personality: Ollie is usually pretty easy-going and calm, with an easy smile. He can be charming when he wants to be, and just a little bit of a flirt. Respects boundaries, though, and will back off immediately if someone seems uncomfortable. Has a tendency to bottle up anger and irritation for far too long, until it explodes out of him in destructive ways. Also has a sharp tongue that, when he does lose his temper, can be devastating.
Likes: Reading. Writing. Listening to music. Going for walks.
Dislikes: Being cold. People who don't listen. His uncle (dad's side).
Fears: His uncle (kind of?). Tight spaces (has pretty bad claustrophobia)
Mannerisms: Tends to drum his fingers when he's thinking, or pop his knuckles one at a time. Also makes weird faces for no particular reason, often when he's writing and working through a difficult/high stakes/dramatic scene.
Backstory: (T/W for SA of a young child. I put it in spoilers so if you choose not to read that part, you can skip it.) Ollie is an only child. His mother is a wealthy American heiress, and his father is British nobility. They met and had a whirlwind romance, marrying after dating for only 8 months. The marriage was good for a while, though it quickly began to grow tense. The couple divided their time between England and America, but began to fight more and more. Ollie's father, John Corley the II, was a notorious flirt, and that didn't end when he got married. Also, John's younger brother William was a creep, and Ollie's mother, Moriah, felt uncomfortable around him. John refused to see that his brother was odd, and blamed all issues on Moriah. Ollie was born after the two had been married for about a year, and for a while the relationship was better. The presence of a baby (an heir for the both of them) seemed to smooth over the cracks, or at least repair them for a while. The couple continued to divide their time between their various homes in both countries, and Ollie's accent developed from that time split between the two countries. William's creepy behavior continued, mainly focused on Moriah and, weirdly, Ollie. He always wanted to be near the mother and her young son, then only about three years old, and took any opportunity he got to hold his nephew. Sometimes his behavior seemed a bit off for an uncle holding his young nephew, but John glossed it over and Moriah eventually began to ignore it as well, figuring that William was family and just a bit odd. That was all. John and Moriah's relationship was beginning to fall apart again, and when Ollie was five or six they decided they wanted to take a trip alone to have some time to try to fix their relationship. They both wanted to stay together for Ollie's sake. So they left him in the care of William for about a month and a half.

William's behavior continued to be like that pretty much whenever he and Ollie were alone together. When Ollie was eight, John cheated on Moriah with a 20 year old model, and the two divorced pretty soon after that. John and Moriah had shared custody of Ollie, with the young boy going back and forth between NYC and London after the divorce. It was not until he was 11 that he finally told his mother just what William had done to him in the past, and Moriah, despite being not the most attentive and close parent, flew into a fit of protective rage against both her ex-husband and his brother. She pressed charges, which were all over the news for a while. "William Corley Arrested for Abuse of Minor" and other such things. More and more details of what William had done began to come out, with abuse of other minors surfacing. William is now in jail for life, and Ollie has been in therapy for years. He has mostly come to terms with what happened, though sex can still be a difficult subject for him. Ollie is not close with his father, since even after charges were pressed, John continued to try and brush off everything that William had done.
Open for relationships?: Yeah sure

Name: Constantine Murray Blanc
Nicknames: Con
Age (14-18): 18
Gender: Demi-male? uses he/they pronouns and would likely describe himself as usually a guy?
Major (Creative Writing, Art, Animation, Film, Music, Architecture): Art
Wealth Status: His mother is really poor and his father is a rich actor, but his parents were never married so? Lower class bc he's always lived with his mother, but dad sends money (will be explained in bio)
Where is this character from?: Los Angeles, California
Appearance: Con is 6' and three quarters of an inch, so he usually rounds it up to 6'1". They have broad shoulders and have a good amount of musculature. They are half white and half latino, but he is very white-passing so most don't usually catch on to his heritage unless he tells them. He naturally has black, curly hair, but currently the sides are buzzed and the top is dyed red, though the red has faded quite a lot and the roots have grown out a bit. He has scars on his fingers and on his arms, along with a small tattoo on his left shoulder. His eyes are a warm hazel tone, and he has a few tiny freckles on his face. His fingers are often stained with paint or markers, and he sometimes manages to smudge it on his face as well. Has their ears pierced.
Usual Clothing: T shirts and jeans, usually with tennis shoes or sneakers, and a leather jacket.
Personality: Con is a bit of a pyromaniac, and has a quick temper to match. They sometimes pick fights and are definitely very rough around the edges, and can be violent when provoked. He can be sweet and gentle, when he wants to be, but usually is abrasive. Not very good at making friends.
Likes: Art, in all forms. Freedom (as in running around with friends and not having to follow rules, not "rah rah america woo hoo" kind of freedom lmao). Music.
Dislikes: Cops. His father. The law.
Fears: Cops. Being caught.
Mannerisms: Taps his nails together, and has a tendency to bite the ends of his paintbrushes/pencils/markers.
Backstory: Con's mother, Lucia, was a prostitute in Los Angeles. She was 20 when she was hired by a very well-known actor, David Brennan. Now, David Brennan is one of those actors that makes a big deal out of his religion, and his perfect marriage and perfect wife, so the fact that he had even hired a prostitute would have been a no no. However, Lucia ended up pregnant from this encounter. If this information became public, it would ruin David's career and marriage. So, when Lucia contacted Brennan and told him about Con's existence, he was furious. Con was already born when David found out, or else the much older celebrity would likely have tried to force Lucia to get an abortion. As Con was already born, David agreed to pay Lucia child support, with the condition that neither she nor Con would ever divulge the baby boy's parentage. Even with the money from David, though, it was still barely enough to keep the young mother afloat. She tried to keep ahold of regular, steady jobs, but still ended up prostituting on the side to help make ends meet. Constantine therefore grew up in very poor and often crime-ridden areas of LA, and as his mother was working so much, was often running amok on the streets. He ended up in a gang of sorts (not a "real" one; it was mostly made up of teens and young adults, and Con was not in deep) and was often breaking the law with the group. Theft, breaking and entering, and drugs were a normal thing for him. They also got into fights relatively often, and would often come home bruised or bleeding for various reasons. He was arrested three separate times for three separate things, and has spent time in juvie as a result of it. His best friend, Sean, was murdered by another boy over money, and another good friend was assaulted, just for being a girl walking alone. Being around so much violence all the time hardened him and turned him into a violent, angry person, and it frightened his mother. Not of him; she knew they would never hurt her, but she was frightened for their future. Without them knowing, she sent an application to Balsam. Constantine was given a scholarship due to his poverty, and was sent to Balsam with the hope that it would save him from getting further and further into violence and illegal activities.
Open for relationships?: Sure

Name: Viktor Pasha Novotny
Nicknames: 'Vitya' and 'Pashenka' to his friends back home/ other slavic classmates. also: 'Mickey'
Age: 18
Gender: amab non-binary? he's questioning. he/him for now.
Major: Dance; ballet.
Wealth Status: Lower-middle class. In a scholarship situation of sorts: he works for and is also funded by his dance company in Russia.
Where is this character from?: Prague, Czech Republic. Lived in Moscow, Russia for a while.
Appearance: His features are not as cold and sharp as one might think. Though, he always looks cold: permanently pale but rosy-cheeked. With a bit of a crooked nose, downturned ?hazel eyes, long lashes, and a soft jaw, he has a certain dopey, approachable quality about him, despite the fact that he doesn’t smile much. His hair is black and had to be kept short before, but during the whole months of getting ready to leave, he managed to get away with growing out something long enough (almost shoulder length) to pin back. He’s all shoulders, elbows, and collarbones. Tall, very lean and 'elegant' to others despite being painfully clumsy most of the time.
Usual Clothing: Most of the clothes he brought over from Europe are all vintage & thrifted but very formal; pressed slacks, cashmere sweaters and slightly wrinkled button-downs. for casual outfits, he could be recognized in his favourite oversized t-shirt (warm yellow, with a faded mickey mouse/steamboat willie logo), vintage jeans (patched with fabric scraps), and either polished black leather boots, soft indoor booties, or dress shoes. He has various (too many) sets of athletic clothes for ballet.
Personality: Quiet. Very polite and professional around authority while mischievous among his peers. Believes in mutual respect & boundaries, always. He has a strong sense of self discipline that can often seem off-putting or a little extreme to others outside of his circle, when really he just likes to have a routine and to stay in control. A little obsessed with dancing and can get a little defensive about it, so, prone to a bit of anger.
Likes: Being alone, dancing, simple American foods, new costumes, video games, praise, classical music, black coffee with too much sugar, Monty Python, chess, science documentaries.
Dislikes: mainstream fiction, the news/media, modern art, technology, Elon Musk.
Fears: Being injured/permanently disfigured, losing all his prospects and opportunities
Mannerisms: Stretching whenever he has the chance; rocking on and off his heels & toes whilst standing, & correcting his posture.
Backstory: Viktor was born in the Czech Republic and left in the care of his uncle at a very young age. Lived there until he had the chance to move to Russia with his (upper-middle class) parents; where they were working. Thrilled when they said he would go to a dance school and devastated when he learned it was a boarding school. Over time, his parents visited less and less. Without his knowledge, his parents surrendered their parental rights and his uncle adopted him. His mother and father still try to stay in contact with him; sending him pictures, letters, and belated birthday/xmas gifts despite them knowingly cheating him of an inheritance. His school in Russia offers a permanent position in the company to the best student before their final year, while the two runner-ups are sent to partner schools to graduate in a kind of joint-honours program and get smaller contracts. A year before he came to America, he found out that his kind-of girlfriend was in first place and he was in second.
Open for relationships?: yeah; if they’re kinda friends first, cause he's new to the school. note: he’s a closeted bisexual.
