Etta winced, receding backwards and lowering her head, bracing for a blow. "M-my apologies…"
Eleanor winced and sighed. "I'm not like my mother," she whispered so only Etta could hear. "I won't hit you." She rose and turned to face Neva. "I haven't always been a pirate," she began hesitantly.
" i didnt figure." she said
Eleanor closed her eyes, too terrified to see Neva's reaction. "My mother is the queen of England. I'm a princess. I ran away."
"… had you said something sooner i wouldn't have sailed so close to shore.." neva said and walked over to her partner, huging her gently
Etta nodded, pressing her lips together as she rocked slightly back and forth. "We thought you were dead…" She whispered, stroking her arm where old welts stained her skin.
She looked over at the two, looking down and sighing softly. "I… I can leave."
Eleanor gasped at the feeling of Neva's arms wrapping around her, and she opened her eyes. "I couldn't bring myself to tell you," she whispered. "I didn't want anyone on board to know. You'd look at me differently."
She turned briefly and looked down at Etta. "Is my mother still spreading that rumor?"
Bernadette nodded slowly. "I did not know it was… you when I first arrived." She mumbled.
Eleanor shook her head. “She’s rather me be dead than lost. Typical. And she wonders why I left.”
" you both sound like youve had bad interactions
"An understatement," Eleanor replied simply. Reluctantly, she slipped out of Neva's embrace and knelt beside the new girl. "Do you have a name?" she asked.
Etta nodded, looking down as tears gathered in her eyes.
“Bernadette.” She spoke softly, feeling very out of place.
neva held out her hand, giving a warm smile " welcome to the crew bernadette." she said warmly
Etta took her hand shakily, smiling up at the pirate. “Thank you. Thank you so much.”
The pirate princess smiled too, feeling relieved that her secret had been aired to Neva. "Eleanor," she introduced herself warmly.
Bernadette smiled, giving her hand a shake. “It is very good to finally meet you, Eleanor.”
Eleanor sighed with relief briefly when Bernadette called her "Eleanor" and not "Princess". Her expression changed quickly. "No one else can know. Alright?" She looked between Bernadette and Neva.
neva nodded. " understood. lets get back out to sally."
Eleanor nodded. “You do that. Just be careful,” she murmured. “I’ll take care of Bernadette.”
neva nodded, giving eleanor a peck on the cheek and walking out
Eleanor flushed and knelt again to care for Bernadette. "I'm sorry for being so aggressive earlier," she apologized softly.
Etta nodded softly, shrugging a bit as she willed herself to relax. “It’s okay. I just… I didn’t know.”
"And I shouldn't have expected you to," Eleanor replied.
Bernadette looked up, then turned her gaze back to the perpetually rocking floor. "I'm very sorry." She muttered, tensing up slightly.
Eleanor sighed. "She would've found out eventually. Neva is very intuitive. I should be thanking you, I suppose." She hesitated for a moment, then asked. "How are things? In London?"
