"Now you can feel safer. I hope that helps." Ash smiled up at the angel

"I wish I didn't have to, but it would definitely cause some fuss. The people wouldn't be too happy about someone who isn't human in a position of some authority. Though I'm technically not very high up yet, when I become a knight, well, if I do, then I would be. It's very risky."
Tanrial and Mari had set off on their journey to meet the others. Although Tanrial was still wearing her hood, underneath she had a blue drew with gold embodiments on it. Mari had braided her hair slightly that day. She found the others and beamed. “Hello there” she called
"Salutations." Lloyd nodded in acknowledgement, stretching his wings a bit.
Tanrial walked over, removing her hood and sat down with the group.
"So, what's been going on in your lives?" Lloyd tried to continue the conversation, not entirely sure what to say.
Mari fluttered from her perch and continued trying to braid Lloyd’s hair.
“Nothing much.” Tanrial shrugged, “You?”
"I really hate this armor sometimes…" He looked over at his armor next to him. "And being on guard duty for hours on end is incredibly dull. I just wish something more… I don't know, interesting, would happen. I just have to stand in silence for long periods of time. It gets boring really fast."
“At least you can go out into the open. I don’t want to get caught and beheaded so Mari and I stay home most of the time.” Tanrial sighed.
"True. I wonder what the people would do to me if they saw my wings?" Lloyd shuddered a bit as he thought of the possibilities. "I don't think it'd be pretty…"
“Probably not,” Tanrial shuffled her feet
"I just wish I were allowed to show my identity without fear of being killed… do you guys feel like that sometimes?"
Tanrial nodded slowly, “I don’t know how many of my kind I’ve seen killed.”
"Hmm… I suppose I've been lucky enough not to experience that. I'm the only angel here that I know of right now, though there could be others who also hide their identities. I usually feel quite alone, since I'm different from the others and they don't even know it."
“I’m the only magic wielder I know of.”
"It's difficult, isn't it? Being different, and dangerously so. If you reveal a certain thing about yourself, it's likely you'll be killed. I wonder why that is. Why we can't just be ourselves, and be accepted for being different. Instead, we can be slaughtered without a second thought. And I've heard that some killings are quite gruesome."
Mari looked slightly upset at the talk of killing and hid behind Tanrial's hair.
“Beheading mostly.” She felt Mari hide behind her hair
Lloyd closed his eyes, trying to forget about the topic for the time being. However, this wasn't very successful and he kept imagining the horrible ways that he could be tortured or killed for being an angel, such as his wings being ripped off, or simply being burned. He grimaced a bit as he thought of these things, his eyes still shut.
Maybelle stood aside, listening to the heart-wrenching conversation. Never before had she been exposed to this type of world. She spent most of her times inside, going into the village only for supplies, and she usually never roams around in the forest. "That truly is terrible," she said simply. "What I don't understand is why anyone would even think to put you all down because you are special. Perhaps they are intimidated? Intimidated that you could out-do whatever they do?"
"Who knows? It's sort of like the salem witch trials I suppose…" Lloyd opened his eyes, looking down at his hands. "They see us as dangerous; as a threat. They destroy what they can't understand."
"Perhaps there is something that we could do. Start a revolution, maybe?" Maybelle shook her head, dismissing the idea. "Nevermind, I've been reading too many books lately."
Mari peeked out and fluttered in front of Maybelle, waving her arms excitedly.
"Yeah, violence might send the wrong idea." Lloyd fidgeted with his wings anxiously, tapping his foot. Thinking about this kind of thing always made him uncomfortable and afraid of everyone, thinking that anyone might find out his secret and kill him at any moment.
