As Clare looked around at the forest landscape below, she noticed something else. “Hold on, are those fires down there?” She asked, pointing to the few light sources that are beginning to appear.
“Um…” Connor trailed off, squinting as they looked over at the lights. “Looks like it. Definitely the right color and everything.”
“I think it’s fire. That means there could be more people down there! We should go check it out,” Claire suggested.
“Yeah, but for all we know those lights might be some band of canibsllistic tribespeople looking for teenagers to eat,” Connor pointed out
“But they could also be from people who have also been in these woods,” Clare hummed, clicking her tongue afterwards as she looked at the fires.
“Okay, whatever. But if we die I’m going to kick your ass to hell and back,” Connor huffed, pointing a finger at Clare before pushing their glasses up a bit
“You can try,” Clare chirped with a bit of laughter before beginning to walk along the edge of the cliff.
Connor rolled their eyes before following Clare. They had a bad feeling about this, though they guess they couldn’t stop Clare
Clare walked for a minute longer, when she was positive that she could hear something. “Connor, hold on, do you hear something too?” She asked.
Connor froze up, eyes wide as they listened for something. Eventually they heard it again, and they felt themself tense up. “We’re fucking dead,” they sang nervously
“Come on, let’s hurry up and get to those fires,” Clare said. Her pace quickened so she was jogging now, glancing around warily.
Connor followed after her, wincing as they nearly tripped and landed on their bad ankle. They kept going though, resisting the urge to sing nervously
Clare glanced over her shoulder, shining her flashlight behind them. She saw a flash of something, gasping sharply as she grabbed Connor and broke into a run. “Connor, Connor, fuck, I saw part of it!” She exclaimed.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck!” Connor shouted as they broke into a run. “This bitch ain’t dying today, no fucking thanks Satan!”
Clare continued to run, trying not to trip and fall like every other fucking idiot in every horror movie. After a minute or so of running, they broke through the trees and onto a path. There were fires lit along side of it, marking the path. “Fuck me..” she mumbled, pausing before dragging Connor down the path.
"Fuck us. Plural. We're both fucked," Connor said frantically. They ran down the path, adrenaline fueling them as they ran. "Fuck, fuck, fuck, we're fucking dead," they sang nervously
“Why the fuck are you singing?” Clare asked as she run along the path. Her lungs burned, but she continued to run like her life depended on it- and it probably did.
"It's something I do when I'm nervous or scared, and I think running for your life from satan counts as being scared!" Connor replied hastily, ignoring the pain in their lungs and ankles in favor of running like hell
Clare didn’t responde, simply continuing to sprint along the path. They seemed to go out into a clearing, where a few cabins were. “Fuck how creepy they look, we need to get out of the open!”
"Fucking fuck, okay, just pick one and run!" Connor shouted before bolting towards the nearest cabin. They tugged Clare with them, frantically trying to make their way to it
Clare sprinted alongside Connor, getting to the nearest cabin and shoving the door open, tumbling to the ground once inside. “Fuck,” she panted hard, blinking a few times.
Connor yelped as Clare fell to the ground, accidentally tugging them with her in the process. "Ow," they grumbled, their vision swimming a bit as they rubbed at their head
Clare tilted her head to the side, seeing someone she assumed to be an old woman kneeling in front of an alter or something. She turned her head to the other side, eyes widening before the boot she saw struck her in the head, and she fell into black.
Connor had yelped as they watched Clare get knocked out, though they quickly followed as they were kicked as well
(And skip)
Clare gave a soft whimper of pain as she slowly came to. She tried to move her hand to rub at her throbbing and aching head, but she slowly realized they were bound behind her back. “Fuck..” she grumbled.
