Adrian jumped slightly, turning to look at Ronan. "Okay." he said, forcing down the fear and anxiety that was welling up inside of him, and slowly made his way over to Ronan.
Adrian jumped slightly, turning to look at Ronan. "Okay." he said, forcing down the fear and anxiety that was welling up inside of him, and slowly made his way over to Ronan.
"Hey, you're doing better now. you seem… less anxious now. Not too much, but enough to show a difference," Ronan noted, taking a small bite of his meal.
Adrian looked away, sitting down to eat. "…oh." he said softly, looking down at his food.
"Yeah, that's a good thing," he looked up at Adrian. "Hey, you're okay here," Ronan said, seeing Adrian's averted gaze.
Adrian shrugged a little. "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. Depends on how soon you get sick of me." he replied, jabbing at the food with his fork.
"I'm not going to tire of you," Ronan replied in a surprised tone. "I'm trying to keep you safe and comfortable here."
Adrian shrugged. "We'll see." He replied slowly.
Ronan nodded a bit, and continued eating.
Adrian took a deep breath, and ate a little more.
(So what's going to happen next?)
(hmmm idk tbh. Maybe we can timeskip?)
(Sure. How far ahead were you thinking?)
(to the middle of the night? I have a nightmare scene I would like to do)
(Sure!)
(alrighty!)
Adrian was asleep on Ronan's couch. Ronan had told him that there was a guest room, but it was messy and wasn't ready for guests right now, and that it would be ready tomorrow night. So Adrian was curled up on the couch with a blanket and pillow. He started to thrash around, face screwing up in pain, soft, choked whimpers escaping his throat.
(Awww I just want to give Adrian a big hug right now.)
Ronan was a light sleeper. He'd always been, and would wake at the smallest sound, and often lay awake all night when it rained, listening to the patter of rain falling onto the roof. So when he heard whimpers, he got up, thinking there was a dog in the house for whatever strange reason, the whimpers were not unlike that a dog might make. Ronan rubbed his eyes sleepily as his eyes adjusted to the lack of light and looked around for the source of the noise. Spying Adrian on the couch, thrashing around, he padded over to him, crouching down. "Hey, it's alright, you're okay," he whispered, wanting to put a hand on Adrian's, but not wanting to startle him.
(awww lol)
Adrian flinched at the touch, still asleep. He let out a soft cry, curling up into a ball. Tears streaked down his face, his whole body tensed and trembling, as if waiting for a blow or kick. He was still letting out soft sounds, his whole body shaking and trembling.
"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you!" Ronan whispered again, this time draping a hand over Adrian's. "You're safe with me, okay? Look, I'm going to go make us some tea, I'll be back in a little bit, okay?" he didn't go immediately, though. Ronan stood up, but gazed down at Adrian, concern showing in his eyes.
Adrian woke up with a jolt, eyes flying wide. He sat up quickly, staring at Ronan with wild, fearful eyes. He swallowed.
"Hey," Ronan greeted, in a soft tone barely louder than a whisper. "You were having a nightmare. I'm going to make us some tea."
Adrian nodded a little, pulling his knees to his chest. He wiped the tears off his face. "S-sorry for waking you up." he said softly.
"No, it's fine, really," Ronan assured him, and went to the kitchen, turning on the water boiler. He also got out two mugs for tea, and two herbal tea bags.
Adrian took a deep breath, sniffling a little. He leaned his head against the couch, biting his lip.
A little while later, the beeper on the water boiler went off, and Ronan poured the water into both cups. He dunked the tea bags into the cup and put them on a tiny plate, and gave one to Adrian and held his in his hands.
Adrian took the cup, hands shaking a little. "Sorry…" He said again, looking down at the floor. "I didn't mean to wake you up."
