Kas hesitated for several seconds, considering whether he should say or not. He opened his eyes and huffed a bit. "Uh… Kas…" He replied quietly.

“That’s a cool name!” Luka smiled as his eyes lit up. Bean, meanwhile, continued to hold Lilac close as Lilac whimpered something about being alone.

Kas shrugged in a noncommittal way. "I guess… I didn't really choose it or anything…" He mumbled. He grabbed the water bottle off of the table and started drinking it, still trembling a bit.

Luka smiled a little, trying to hide the blush that was forming on his face. Bean turned to Lilac and noticed her quietly crying and clinging to her older sister. Bean immediately pulled Lilac closer, rubbing her back. “Don’t worry….I’m here…” she whispered to soothe the younger girl.

(LUKA BOI- YOU JUST MET)

"Ugh, I'm sick of sitting already… I've been sitting all night." Kas huffed and pushed himself off the couch, although he fell back onto it immediately when his leg gave out. "Ughhhh…"

“Yeah, you might not want to do that…” Luka winced as he moved over a little to make room for Kas. “You should just rest here until you’re better…” he sighed.

Kas sighed and reluctantly lay down on the couch, carefully drawing his legs up so he could relax without it hurting as much. His leg honestly still hurt a lot, but he wasn't about to admit that he needed pain medication.

Mori pushed himself up to his feet and looked around, still pretty out of it. "Mmm…? Hello?" He called out softly.

Luka sat next to him, looking up at the ceiling. Lilac continued to cry as Bean combed her fingers through her hair. “Shh…we’re okay…everything’s okay…” she whispered as Lilac started to calm down.

Rachel looked up and walked back to the hallway.
"Hey bud. Let's get you somewhere comfortable, okay?" She said, offering her hand to the kid.
"Did the pills help?"

"Mmmm… not yet." Mori accepted Rachel's hand and shuffled along at her side, still pretty unsteady on his feet. "How long do they take to make the hurting go away?"

Tohru looked over at the new guy, brow furrowed a bit.
"Here's some water," he said, passing his canteen over.
Subtly, he slipped a few pills into the other hand. He needed pain meds for sure. Having dealt with a dislocated shoulder before, he was familiar with the pain.
He didn't give time for the other to refuse, at least not without making a scene.

Kas looked up at Tohru with a confused, curious expression. He appreciated the subtle way he passed him the meds and he hesitantly nodded, swallowing them equally as subtly with the water he'd been given. "Uh… thanks…" He said stiffly, not making eye contact with Tohru.

"It'll take a few more minutes then. You'll need to rest for a while." Rachel smiled at Mori, leading him to the living room.
"How about you go rest on the couch, okay?"

"Okay…" Mori sat down on the couch beside Kas and looked up at him curiously, interested since he was someone he hadn't met before. Kas glanced back over at him with a confused, mildly annoyed expression. "Why's the goth fetus staring at me?" Kas asked stiffly.

"Mhm," Tohru had muttered in response to Kas' thanks before Mori came over.
He stiffened a bit at the comment Kas made.
Trying not to show any distaste, he quickly replied, "He's probably just curious about you. Same as the rest of us."

Kas narrowed his eyes at Mori, who waved at him sleepily. Mori was still clearly pretty out of it, and Kas was uneasy around so many new people. He'd been travelling alone for a long time, after all, so suddenly being thrust into a group of people was shocking his system a bit. "Well, I'm not all that interesting." He said, still stiff and trying to keep any nervousness out of his voice.

Luka nodded. “Yeah, it’s always nice to see someone the zombies hadn’t gotten to yet…” he admitted, leaning back. This whole situation was rough so he didn’t blame Kas for being wary.

Kas shrugged and looked away from Mori, starting to fiddle with one of his arrows. "Like I said, I'm not that interesting. I've just been on my own for… a while." He tightened his grip on the arrow, growing a bit uneasy. "But that's not important. Nothing's important."

Luka turned to Kas, sitting up. “Hey, I know how you feel…for the longest time, it was just me and my siblings. Well…not all of them. I just reunited with my sister Lilac not too long ago,” he sighed. “Point is, you don’t have to be alone anymore. We’re all here if you need us,” he smiled.

"Alone keeps me safe. I don't have to worry about getting attached to people and then just… watching them die." Kas drank some more water and looked away, wincing as he moved his leg. "If I stay alone and I die, then nobody will miss me. Nobody else hurts."

"I've… I've been there," Tohru sighed, "It hurts. But I'll admit it's been nice having others who have my back, even if most of us just met."
He shifted a little bit, but started feeling weak and ultimately had to sit down on the floor.

Earl frowned. "Look, kid. I know how you feel. I think I speak for everyone when I say, we've been there before. But you can't be in that mindset if you're going to survive."
"You can't avoid everyone. You'll need to interact with others eventually. But those thoughts…won't help."

"If I don't survive, then whatever. At least if I'm alone, nobody else is hurt by it." Kas drank some more water to try and keep himself calm. He couldn't help but think about his parents, now zombies. He didn't know whether they were still wandering somewhere or not, but they were dead, and there was nothing he could do about it. "I don't really care if I live or die."

“Well we care! It hurts to think about every person who’s hurt or dying out there that we can’t help…” Luka teared up. “If we can help at least someone, we will…” he continued, taking a deep breath as he moved closer to Kas. He hated that Kas was in so much pain…physically and emotionally.

"See, if you didn't have to meet me, you wouldn't be sad." Kas said pointedly, sounding bitter and morose. He avoided eye contact with everyone, his gaze looking a bit distant as he got lost in his own thoughts.
