Carrio tilted his head. He wasn’t quite sure why she was getting so upset. “I thought you had finished the books, dear?” He asked this softly, his eyes betraying concern for her.
Carrio tilted his head. He wasn’t quite sure why she was getting so upset. “I thought you had finished the books, dear?” He asked this softly, his eyes betraying concern for her.
The subtle pet name caught her completely off guard. Dear…?
"Right. Sorry, my head's a bit all over the place," she admitted, coming back over towards Carrio.
(IRIS OUR OTHER O/O)
Carrio smiled a little, kindly understanding. “That’s okay. Did you want to go downstairs and take a break? Maybe have a cup of water and a few doughnuts?”
(I KNOW I'M RESPONDING TO LIKE 8 RPS THEY SUDDENLY ALL LIVE)
(ANGERY(
(HUSH)
Hazel shrugged. She was fine simply being there in the library and really wasn't all too hungry either. A quick drink didn't sound all too bad however.
"Alright," she replied with a light nod.
Carrio smiled and patted her shoulder gently. “You go do that, then. I’ll stay up here and watch over stuff.9
Nodding, Hazel made her way down a small staircase towards the back of the library. It was simply for staff only, holding a small room with a surprisingly warm feel to it. Inside was a table surrounded by a few chairs with a small box of assorted doughnuts in a decorated box resting on top. Smiling to herself, Hazel couldn't help but feel her cheeks warm, remembering how much her friend seemed to offer kindness through so many unnecessary ways. But it was a good "unnecessary."
Pulling out one of the chairs, she thought about the gentle embrace they had moments ago. It made her heart seem to panic slightly at the thought. Sighing, she shook the memory away to get herself a quick drink.
After only a few minutes, Hazel returned. Thoughts nagged at her mind that she had been being too needy when crying in front of Carrio. Seeing her friend smile at her again forced them back. He didn't care about the unimportant details of that. He was simply kind enough to offer a shoulder for such occasions.
And Hazel loved that about him.
Her eyes widened for a moment after the whisper in her mind. Love…?
(sorry I think we're both impatient at this point so I did a thing)
(Yes that is indeed a thing)
Carrio sat down in his chair and stretched out, smiling at someone who had just approached the desk. It was a busy day today. He checked out their book. It was one of fairytale, the one where the Beauty meets the Beast. He loved Beauty and the Beast. He wondered if Hazel liked it… maybe they could go see the new movie? He shook his head and checked out the book for the person.
Taking a seat next to Carrio, Hazel looked out into the library, looking for anyone who might need assistance. Talk to her former self and the small outgoing acts would feel quite strange to her. After the short week, her anxiety seemed to bother her less. For a moment, she fiddled around with a pen to have something to do.
Carrio smiled at her, turning to face her. “Did you get something to drink? Get a doughnut?”
Turning, Hazel gave a small nod. "Yes to the first, no to the second," she replied with a small smile.
(Our other RP?)
Carrio waved his hand. “Come on, you gotta get a doughnut! Come ooooonnnn.”
(I just responded to it)
Hazel lightly chuckled at Carrio's behavior. In her mind, she really didn't need all the extra sugar. It was always super kind of the other to purchase them from day to day however.
"I'm fineeeee," she replied in a similar tone.
Carrio nudged her chair, since it was a wheeley one, it went a couple feet.
“Come oooooonnnn… I know you want ooooneeee….”
Hazel gripped the arms of the chair in surprise at the sudden movement, only to look up at Carrio with an unamused expression.
"No, really. It's okay."
Carrio chuckled at her reaction. He pulled her over again, smiling.
“Okay, okay.”
Offering a soft smile back, Hazel returned to watching the other customers. She nearly became giddy at the sight of someone pulling out one of the new YA novels she had recently shelved. It was by a newly starting author she had heard about. Said book was about a relationship between two high school students who both didn't exactly fit in. It was cliche in some ways, but had a new take on the topic.
Carrio had disapproved of the YA novels before, but he had accepted them. They were always getting swept out of the shelves, getting he and Hazel more money. Which mainly went into the health of the library.
(I actually just went to a thing at my school called Lit Fest and got a new book and I'm hyped. The author signed it but also wrote "John Green killed my dog" for some reason???)
"I'm not sure as of why you have a distaste for YA novels. Most are quite similar to realistic fiction," Hazel commented just before a patron approached to check out a dystopian novel and some sort of cook book.
Quickly stamping the paper in the back covers of the books for the return date, she slid them gently across the counter happily. It was quite nice to see how far her social abilities had come.
(Lol, that makes sense. I’m not really surprised.)
Carrio rolled his eyes as he typed the book name into the catalog. “I don’t dislike them. I just think they’re too… sappy.”
"Which means you aren't fond of them. A synonym being distaste, Carrio," Hazel pointed out, trying not to chuckle as she said this.
Carrio rolled his eyes. “Too sappy. Too money-making. But it helps us rake in more people, so I’m not complaining.”
Hazel stuck her tongue out teasingly in retaliation before returning to messing around with a pen in front of her. After the moment from earlier, she now had her stifling jacket over the back of the chair she sat in. Things were okay here.
Carrio yawned and stretched out his arms, shaking his head wildly as he exhaled. He loved the quiet environment of his library. He loved it so much, especially with Hazel joining him in it.
