She blushed at the random compliment, and huffed, looking away in hopes of him not seeing. "Well. Thank you. I work hard for these looks!" She stated defensively. After a few moments of silence she sighed. "But. You did look rather…dashing in that suit, that much I can admit." She says shyly, still keeping her eyes not on him, generally on the ground.

“Is that so?” he cooed, raising his eyebrows with a smile. “Why thank you.”
Wren followed quietly thereafter, the bags swaying only slightly from his hands. He made sure to keep the contents from jostling, gently rocking them with his steps.

"Oh don't let that get to your head. It was just the suit that made you look good, NOT the other way around. Also, it is unwise to flirt with a vampire. We are separate species. Enemies." She said, though her tone wasn't as sharp and proud as usual when saying such things,

“Which actually has gotten me wondering,” he replied. He glanced nervously from Val to the ground, then back to the vampire again.
“What would happen— not saying that it would ever— but what would happen if a vampire bit a werewolf? Or, vice versa? Out of curiosity.”

"Then an unpure breed of vampire would be created. A werewolf vampire. Some lower species below us pure borns." She tapped her neck where the two freckles were. "The mark of a pure blood vampire. Everyone in my family has one." She nodded.

“Honestly, that sounds pretty cool,” he said, knowing full well she would probably hate him for it. At least it was nice to know she thought werewolves were higher on the rank than un-pure bloods.

"Excuse me? They have no common sense. Most go clinically insane. Werewolves are only one peg above such disgusting vermin in my personal opinion, not to be so rude. But. They kill. They can't die. And they never. STOP. Endless amounts of energy, they kill themselves to death. Which I know sounds obvious but they become overworked. Few are able to triumph over their mind, without going insane or hurting millions, and keep control of themselves, and even then there are…spasms. I should know. We had to disown a whole linage of family since one of their songs got a werewolf girl pregnant. We…tried to keep them in the family but well…they sort of destroyed everything and nearly got us trillions of dollars into debt and funeral costs." Valentina shook her head solemnly as they approached her house.

“Alright, never mind,” he said quietly. He knew all too well what losing control was like. He had done it on multiple accounts, but never to the point where he had killed another person. Wren didn’t even think, in the coldest of mindsets, he could even unconsciously bring himself to kill.
He stepped forward up the path to Val’s house, his attention setting back on the task at hand. Wren pressed the door open, holding it there for Val and following shortly after.

She gave him a quick nod of thanks and then headed to the kitchen where the adults, and her older brother, were standing around and drinking wine, laughing and talking. Valentina quickly set down the groceries, and then flew off to her room, her brother following with curiosity. "Oh Vaaaal~ Why are you wearing Wren's jacket?" He asked in teasing tones, walking into her room as she took it off, and smelled it one last time before setting it on the bed. "Oh shut up Mathias. As you know I have a very low tolerance to cold, so he simply gave me his jacket as an extra layer to keep me warm." "Oh? Your all blushy Val. And you smelled it. I think you're in love." "HOW DARE YOU! I would NEVER destroy the family bloodline like that, and be shunned and banned from my family!" "So you admit it." "No Mathias. I am not in love with a werewolf." "Uhuh. Is he in love with you?" "That I don't know. Ask him yourself!"

Wren just stood there quietly, dumbfounded. He set the bags on the counter slowly.
“I… I,” he whispered. “I’m confused. What happened?”
He glanced nervously from each member, his face flushed entirely.
The werewolf’s eyes then rested on Val as he began to process the argument. He decided to let the jacket fiasco slide, but tilted his head nonetheless. “What?”

Valentina tilted her head. "Well? Are you in love with me?" She asked, looking at him with both expectation and curiosity, her brother crossing his arms and looking between the two. Valentina had the jacket in her lap and twiddled with one of the strings on it as her eyes settled on Wren.

@PaperHats business

“W-what? What kind of question— What do you— Why do you care?” he asked, his voice a pitch higher. He nervously gestured with his hands, still glancing back and forth between the two.
“N-no? Well if I did, I couldn’t anyway, right? It doesn’t work,” he continued, rambling. “B-but no, I guess? I don’t know— I don’t like this conversation topic.”

Her brother smiled. "Wren's in love with Valentina, oh THIS is juicy!" He cackled and flew off. "MATHIAS GET BACK HERE!" She huffed and handed Wren his jacket back. "I'm not…saying that we couldn't. Be in love." She said softly, weaving her words carefully. "But if a werewolf and vampire were to date…there'd be a lot of hell unless the two were to keep it a secret. And never have kids." She said with a small smile, winked, and then walked off, tossing things around in her mind. Me in love with a werewolf? NEVER! Right?

@PaperHats business

Wren was more confused than he had ever been in his entire life. Even when he first learned how to transform.
Still, this was seemingly more confusing. Completely and utterly confusing.
He continued to stand there, holding his jacket loosely in his hand.
What… what did she mean by that? And what was that wink?
Wren resisted the urge to follow immediately after the vampire, his claws digging into his jacket sleeve.

(FOLLOW HER! -pushes him- GO! COURT MY PRISSY PRINCESS BITCH WITH WAY TO MUCH ATTITUDE!) Valentina glanced back to see if he was following and when he wasn't her face fell a bit. She then simply tossed her hair over her shoulder a bit in a sassy way, and headed back to her library to go see if she could find a book to help her with her emotions. The haunted book followed her everywhere she went as she looked around.

@PaperHats business

(HE’S ON HIS WAY LOL HE’S JUST A SMOL CONFUSED BOY)

Wren narrowed his eyes as he ripped his foot from its frozen position, then the other, then tripped up the stairs hastily and burst into the library.
Upon finding Val, he held out a finger.
“Okay, l-listen, Val,” he said, clearing his throat. He hated confrontation, but he really saw no other way out of it.
“I can’t understand you. Maybe it’s because your a vampire or a woman— I mean, no, that’s not what I meant, I— Never mind. What I’m saying is that I can’t keep doing this, alright.”
He paused for a moment, letting the silence weigh on his words.
“Listen,” he muttered, putting his hands down on the table. A deep growl escaped his throat. “I like you, okay? See? That wasn’t that hard to say. So tell me how you actually feel about me.”
His eyes almost glowed an amber brown as he resisted the urge to snarl, but he had been keeping these emotions down for way too long.
“So?”

She stood there, books in her arms, and with each word her eyes got a darker and darker shade of red, until they are so deep they were almost black. Her eyes narrowed into slits at him. "How. RUDE." Was all she could say before she turned around and floated away. No way was she going to talk to him. Her heart said Love, Her mind said hate and her teeth wanted to rip out his jugular.

@PaperHats business

Wren looked insanely unimpressed.
“Really….?” he muttered, his shoulders hunched. “That’s it, huh? That’s all you have to say?”
In reality, his heart was beating a mile a minute. But he would never let her know that. He hid it as deep within himself as he could. Over his sudden burst of anger, he could barely feel it himself.
He wasn’t the type to get angry at anyone ever. However, so close to his turning point, aka his full moon, he was the most fragile being ever. And for that, he hated himself.

"No. Get yourself together before admitting any possible feelings. I don't know how I feel about you. I could love you but I also can't. If that makes any sense at all." She says in a defensive and angry tone,but it had a certain softness to it,as she sat down on one of the couches and opened up one of the books and paged through it.

@PaperHats business

“Well, to a ‘stupid mutt’ like me, it doesn’t,” he said, his voice raspy with his growl. “And I do have myself together. I’ve had myself together since the moment I met you. I think it should be the other way around, hm?”

Deleted user

"You stumbled in,tripped over your feet and words, insulted me, barely apologized to me, and then proceeded to announce you're feelings for me, all in the same breath. That. Is not together. I cannot love you because I will be shunned, hated, and then staked through the heart literally for not being a pure blood. For abandoning my family and all the good values I have. I am choosing life over death here. Trust me. We have a whole entire ceremony dedicated to killing the impure ones. The ones who abandon our last name on wild things such as intermixing species. We must keep it clean." She sighed. "Now does it make sense?"

@PaperHats business

“Yes, your highness,” he snapped. “But this wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t gotten my hopes up— with your winks and your remarks and your partially sometimes remotely open personality and your books and…”
Wren’s eyes shot over to the enchanted book parading around, his pupils just slits in his glowing amber irises. He snarled— a sound that reverberated around the room, causing the book to fly back slightly.
“If you really feel this way,” Wren said, his voice rough. “Please… don’t give me false hope like this.”

"I…" She sighed and grabbed his hands. "I like you to Wren but what am I supposed to do, die for you?" She asked. She sounded scared. So scared. And hurt. No one had ever seen her like this before. And at this she started crying as she sat back down on the little couch and curled up. "…You're different than most werewolves Wren. I may just possibly be able to love you…but I'll be killed in front of my whole family if I do." (be sure to read whole paragraphs thoroughly.)

@PaperHats business

(Sorry— thought I did)
Wren’s eyes reverted but his heart was still beating unusually fast. He kept his more defensive stature, standing there in silence and looking anywhere else besides the vampire. He took a deep breath, regaining himself.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice breaking. It sounded more like a whisper than anything. “I’m… sorry.”
He cursed himself out in his own head, his eyes locked on the floor, his hair falling into them. Granted that was the true repercussion of them ever being together, part of him absolutely wanted her to keep up the visad of hating him. But… the other part of him couldn’t ignore the smallest possibilities.

She then grabbed his hands, and pulled him down onto the couch next to her, and wrapped his big puppy dog arms around her, hiding her face deep into his neck as she tried to calm down. Everyone had their own separate library so luckily no one would ever go into here. She breathed him in deep, trying to go back to her cold stature. She had made a mistake, basically telling him she loved him, or could. And she wanted to repair it and move on. But also the thought of secret love excited her.
