Dare didn’t reply to the voice as it didn’t sound like any of her companions. Her eyes narrowing with suspicion, she crept carefully towards where she thought the voice was coming from with her sword at the ready. She pulled aside a section of the brush where she thought the stalker was hidden.
The brush moved aside revealed a figure of average height. The thing different thing about them was that their eyes were covered by a cloth, stained with the dark liquid that ran through the veins of ferals. He wore a dark overcoat and light grey pants. A thick metal bat held slack in his clawed hand. He turned his head to the sound of the moving foliage and smiled a bit, his face a shade darker than his pants. "Why hello there."
Dare backed away as fast as she could from the creature, desperate to get away from those leaking, monstrous eyes. She tripped on a root and fell down on her back, but quickly held her sword out in front of her to ward off the creature. “Get away from me,” she said breathlessly, pointing the blade at her stalker.
"Oh so you choose…flight over fight…interesting." he muttered, his smile fading. He gripped the bat tighter and the bat had jagged shards of metal erupted from it's surface "This…well this isn't personal." he said, taking a step toward her voice
Dare scrambled to her feet, aware of every spike that adorned the surface of the bat. “Shield,” she whispered, and her new tool obliged, forming a perfect circle that slipped comfortably over her arm. “Listen, maybe we can strike a deal,” she said, trying to distract the creature as she prepared to make a run for it. “I don’t want to die, and if this really isn’t personal, then you can take me to your boss and let me talk with him face to face. Unless, you’re both rotten cowards.”
"One of you must die before sunrise or we'll be punished, it's as simple as that…now hold still…maybe this won't hurt…as much as my death did that is." He turned fully to her voice and took a sideways swing at Dare. His lack of sight turned out not to be such a problem for him.
Dare held up her shield and the blow crashed against it with a loud metal clang, sending a vibration up through her shoulder. She wondered what material his weapon was made out of to produce an almost beautiful echo, as it didn’t sound like any material on Earth. She turned and ran, sprinting as fast as she possibly could and zigzagging back and forth so her pursuer would have a harder time following her.
there was a frustrated huff from behind her and Dare was soon finding it hard to walk without tripping up
Dare tripped again, this time her momentum causing her to skid several feet in the chilling snow. She tried to push herself to her feet, but it was like something was stopping her from moving. She brought her shield up to protect her head and neck from whatever blows might come her way.
"Flight won't save you…fight is the only option in this game." he growled, the jagged metal shifting to razor wire around the bat as it skidded across the surface of her silver protection. There were slimy vines wrapping around her feet
Back at camp after showing Yumi some patterns on the cube he showed her Tempest felt…something was off in the back of his mind
“Sword!” Dare called after deflecting the blow, hacking away at the vines around her feet. She held up her weapon and took a big, heaving breath. “You want a fight?” she called, tired of running. “I’ll give you one.” Dare rushed forward and swung at the creature’s neck with her blade.
The blade sunk into his neck, a grin broke across his face "Oh that hurts…good…my name is Patches and you…well I'm happy you realize that running will only delay what will happen." With that with her blade stuck in his now bleeding neck he took a single hand swing with his weapon at her left leg.
Dare gasped in shock as the creature—Patches, she now knew—continued to speak to her even with her sword gouged in its throat. Patches had said that it was dead, earlier, she remembered, so perhaps wounds to its body did not affect it as they did the living. Caught up in her thoughts, she shrieked in pain as Patches’s bat sliced into her thigh, stumbling backwards and trying to stem the flow of blood with the sleeve of her sweatshirt.
He put a hand to his open gaping wound, spraying a ink like substance onto the innocent white snow. He brought the bat to his face and licked at her blood.
Tempest's head shot up as he heard a scream. "Dare?!" he shouted, suddenly panicked (I'll wait for our other part of the trio to post next)
while the jester was looking around, Johnny sneaked away without him noticing. he kept the knife from the tree. this should be useful
“Gross,” Dare choked out as Patches licked at the streaks of blood on its bat. Perhaps it needed blood as some sort of life source? Or maybe it just wanted to freak her out. She collapsed at the base of a nearby tree, feebly grabbing a fallen branch and waving it at the creature. “Leave me alone,” she hissed. “There are at least seven others in this forest. Go hunt one of them.”
( @ShadowWolf13 you need to write that if you want a chance of that happening)
(alright just waiting for @Mood-Swings-Xcnx4 before continuing)
( @Aesthetic-FREAKz ? Hybrid, I'm not sure you responded, but you're fine. You do enough already planning everything [or mostly everything] out.)
(Ack sorry, feel free to go without me.)
Oliver looked around, wondering where the other people were. His wings were curled up, behind his back. He didn’t see anything move, but that could just be him. He turned his head back, listening in on their conversations again.
(Sorry I was really busy T.T)
Yumi rushed over, she seemed to be crying a bit. “What’s wrong Temptest?”
Yumi heard the scream, it trickled down her throat, it felt unpleasant and rough. “Oh no…”
Yumi’s tears grew bigger, she bit her lip, trying not to let them go. “I-I should have went with her…”
(still gonna wait for @Mood-Swings-Xcnx4 for the the Temp Dare Yumi trio but I'll continue the other storylines)
Jester looked back to where his prey was but let out a loud angry screech "GET BACK HERE WE'LL ALL BE PUNISHED IF ONE DOESN'T DIE!"
Ember looked to Oliver and gently asked "Do you need anything to help?"
Tempest took Yumi's hand without a word and started to run to around the area the scream had come from, soon approaching close "Shit is that Patches. He's no joke." Tempest muttered, pulling his pendant from his neck
"Now now," Patches started "You don't want this to hurt anymore than it should" He smiled, taking another step and raised his jagged bat
