Jude loaded their dishes in the dishwasher, making sure the kitchen was clean enough before heading to the bedroom to get ready. He came back to the living room a moment later, wearing a bright red and back Burberry cashmere sweater and some ripped jeans. "You still good with the Natural History Museum?" He asked, glancing at the laptop.
Nyx nodded a little bit. "Mhm!" he replied, smiling up at Jude and standing, setting the laptop aside and looking up at the other male. "Let's go."
"O-kay," Jude said with a nod, smiling as he headed for the door, checking his pockets for his phone and keys before slipping on his tattered converse sneakers.
Nyx put on his own shoes as well and then followed Jude out the door, smiling happily.
Jude locked the door behind them, reaching down to pet Macy as she wandered up to them before heading to the elevator, leaning on the wall as he waited for it. "You excited?" He asked with a little smile.
Nyx nodded a little. "Yeah!" He replied happily, leaning over to kiss Jude's cheek. "Thank you!"
Jude smiled, looking down a little shyly. "We haven't even left yet," He said, taking Nyx's hand as the elevator doors opened, "Hm. I'm excited too; it's been a while since I visited."
Nyx ducked his head, embarrassed. "I just…I'm excited." He mumbled, biting his lip and glancing up at Jude.
"Mm– I didn't mean it like that," Jude said, smiling as he nudged Nyx's shoulder, "I'm glad that you're excited. I think you're gonna like it; there's lots of stuff about animals– sorry, belt animals," He corrected, "And evolution, and other science-y things."
Nyx's lips twitched up in a smile at that, and he looked up at Jude. "Oh. Alright." he smiled again, leaning his head on Jude's shoulder.
"Hm," Jude smiled, letting out a comfortable sigh as he slid an arm around Nyx's waist and watching the floor numbers descend before the elevator passed that one slightly jarring spot.
Nyx leaned against him happily. "I really like you." He said quietly, looking up at Jude through his lashes.
Jude let out a soft laugh. "Oh yeah?" He chuckled, titling Nyx's chin up as he smiled at him, "Well, I really like you too."
Nyx smiled faintly, leaning into Jude's hand.
The elevator doors opened, and Jude nodded his head out to the lobby. "C'mon," He said with a smile, "Let's go see some dino skeletons."
Nyx grinned happily, straightening up. "Ooh! Are there still dinosaurs??" he asked excitedly, looking up at Jude.
"No, unfortunatley," Jude said with a soft laugh as they walked through the lobby, "Been gone for a while. Though, crocodiles haven't changed much since then. When did you learn about them?"
Nyx sighed, disappointed. "I don't remember. I think at the same time I learned about natural history and evolution?" he screwed up his face a little in thought.
"Hm, weird," Jude said, wondering how he might've learned about evolution but not reproduction. "But anyways, It's a pretty big place– we used to go there for school field trips a lot," He said holding the door open for the two of them.
Nyx nodded a little. "Alright." he replied. "I wanna see the dinosaurs first though." he smiled happily.
"Okay," Jude said, smiling as they walked out onto the street; already bustling with activity and standstill traffic, "I always liked the Ancient Egypt exhibition. I wonder if that's still there."
Nyx blinked. "Okay." He replied, unsure what that meant but willing to go if it made Jude happy.
Jude sighed comfortably as he walked through his neighborhood with Nyx, passing the little shops and bodegas as they headed towards the subway station, his thoughts quietly redirecting to what he said in the elevator. I really like you. He'd said nothing before to prompt Nyx to say that, but the casual sincerity behind the words made him smile.
Nyx walked with him quietly, looking around as they walked. He hadn't really thought about it before blurting out the words, but they had been true.
Jude smiled as he turned the corner, seeing the far treetops of central park a few blocks away. "Oh hey, I forgot to ask you," Jude said, smiling as he turned to Nyx, "What did you think– or feel, i guess –when we first took a drive through the city? Away from RTI."
