"Phiri!" Manilla feels the brush of a tail against her wings.
"Phiri!" Manilla feels the brush of a tail against her wings.
"Sorry," Flint is too distracted to give a real response or excuse.
Lucas struggles against his bonds, still crying. No, no, no, no!
"Wait, whose fairies are those?" Trin notices two grasping on the rope, trying to untie Lucas.
"Flint, pull the rope up!"
"Noones, I saw them in the forest when I was taking Lucas," Flint replies.
Flint obeys, pulling the rope up quickly.
"And they followed him all the way here. Interesting. They look tough, could win me a lot."
When the rope is on deck, Flint unties Lucas and gently picks him up. "You already have a fairy though."
"Who cares! Pirates have been getting two lately. You take the other air and I will take this water." Trin grabs Manilla and flings her into the cage.
Lucas covered his face with his hands, trembling. He couldn't fly for the moment, as his wings had been crushed by the rope.
"I can't do that, what about the Deal?" Flint tries to reason.
"Do you seriously still follow the Deal? Fairies can't stand up to us. They are four inches tall!" Trin snickers as she flicks Phiri into a cage, and breaks off a piece of her wing.
"But they still have feelings and emotions. What you just saw proves that," Flint waves at the side of the ship. He watches Trin break Phiri's wing and he grabs the cage, pulling it away from Trin.
"This is your last warning, Flint. If you keep standing up for the little guys, you can't stay. This is a ship, we are pirates, not some fairy worshipers. You have no where to go, your sister's dead, your family's gone. You would die out there without me. So go and watch the fight. Maybe you will see how fun it is to have fairies." Trin walks off the deck and into the arena, carrying the cage with Manilla.
Flint bites his lip, she's right and he knows it. He puts Lucas in the cage with Phiri and walks to a place he can observe the arena from.
"Argh!" Phiri whines, clutching her wing. "Disgusting humans! I hate them all!" she uttered to herself as she tries to fix her wing.
Lucas lay limply on the floor of the cage, his eyes closed. He seemed to be unconscious, or at close to it, and his wings appeared crumpled.
"Dang it." Phiri mutters, and she goes over to help Lucas with his wings. "This is what happens when you mess with humans, little brother." she whispers, her voice breaking. What will Mom and Dad do when they realize we've been taken?
Lucas looked up at Phiri, his eyes shining with tears. "I-I'm, sorry… I… I-I didn't know he was a pirate…" His voice cracked and the tears fell from his eyes. "T-This is Nolliah all over again…" (I decided that their sister's name is/was Nolliah)
"Are you two alright?" Flint whispers into the cage, looking down for a split second before watching the arena again.
Lucas whimpered and shied away from Flint, pressing himself against the wall of the cage.
"Right, stupid question," He looks around the deck, seeing that most of his crewmates are drunk. "Sorry about all this."
Cheers blare through the arena. Trin's ember fairy, Ashan, against a little earth. It has no chance up against the skilled ember, smoke rapidly spiraling in the air. The crowd is silent, hearing nothing from the clouds. Arising from the soot, is Ashan, holding the earth's wings in her grasp. It lays lifeless on the ground, (when a fairies wings are taken it dies) and the pirates all stare. Trin reaches down and snatches up the limp body and raises it in the air. Most of the crowd cheer, some don't, disappointed in the bets they made. A tall man walks over to Manilla's cage. "You next, puny fairy," he grumbles. Manilla shoots a terrified look to Phiri.
Phiri growled at the pirate. "Curse you." she spat as she gently healed her brother. Then she hears someone speaking to Manilla, and turns to see her friend staring at her, terrified. Their gonna make her fight! Phiri realized. Then she turned to the pirate. "Your a disgusting monster. If you actually cared if we were okay, you would get us all out of here."
