Ignis glanced at Marlin and squinted for a minute. He then returned to Kali and smirked, "Let's say…an acquaintance. If I may ask, what brings your curious spirit to us? Surely you didn't just want to hear our rambling."
Ignis glanced at Marlin and squinted for a minute. He then returned to Kali and smirked, "Let's say…an acquaintance. If I may ask, what brings your curious spirit to us? Surely you didn't just want to hear our rambling."
"lets just say i…recognized your voices. I was curious what the face of the voices looked like." She shrugged looking up at the sky and then look around them suspiciously. "I've heard your ramblings of seals, and fire magic."
"You recognized our voices?" asked Marlin "What do you mean you recognized our voices? I've never seen you I…" he drifted off. "You're an elemental aren't you."
Ignis smiles at Kali while approaching slowly, "You show no signs of fear. You don't seem like you're convinced we're crazy. Then I take it you're either a cultist of the Elders, or an elemental yourself. I hate cultists. They always twist my ancestors message to their own gain. And if you are an elemental, I trust you've seen oddities lately? A beacon from the local woods?"
"Calm down Ignis." said Marlin, "You're gonna creep her out."
she turned a cat like observing gaze at marlin. "oh look you say something smart for once." she turned her attention back to Ignis. "I saw the light from my window and heard screams of fear, people telling other people to run."
Ignis turned to Marlin, "Calm down? It was a mere question. I have studied many things in my years. I know when one knows something and when one doesn't."
"Yeah, but when you walk closer to people like that, and talking about ancestors and cultists." he shrugged "But what would I know? Apparently I'm the dumb one here."
Ignis tilted his head towards Marlin, "Not dumb. Just…not taught. I trust we'll require your services on taking down a Shadow. I can, in the meantime, educate you on that which your family has hid from you."
Marlin got very still. "My family didn't hide anything from me," he mumbled not meeting their eyes.
Ignis froze. His eyes widened and looked at Marlin who could look back, "I-I…I'm s-sorry. I apologize for not understanding the situation."
"I see." She sighed looking up at the sky, a frown on her face.
"Don't apologize." sighed Marlin his face turning a little red, "Shadows? Big scary monsters? Remember them?" he babbled in an obvious attempt to change the subject.
Ignis shakes his head and smiles, "Right! I am starting to think there are more than one Shadow we-I set free."
"Oh well that's just amazing isn't it." he grumbled, "So, question, these Shadows, I'm assuming they're immortal or something or else we'd just kill them, right?"
"Dangerous beings hm? Would you say shadows and darkness are similar, different or the same?" She asked the both of them.
"Back then, the Elders were afraid of them and did the first thing that came to mind. Now with the current technology and knowledge, we can find something out." Ignis turned to Kali and smiled, "Related."
"Honestly, you would expect them to at least have a back up lan when it comes to this kind of thing. LIke oh these things will totally escape and try to kill us or generations after us but lets not come up with a back up plan." She made impressions of them and huffed. "I wonder, do you think darkness could control shadow?"
(okay so they may not be cannon, but imagine this vine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jezYL2YhsFA
the dog is a shadow and the owner is kali lol-)
"Why do you refer to darkness?" Ignis asks, confused
"because its my element?" She said this a matter a factly.
"Oh," said Marlin "Another elemental. Welcome to the club." he glanced at her again, this time looking confused, "How is darkness an element? It's just the absence of light."
She shrugged. "how is light an element? its just the absence of dark."
Marlin opened his mouth to say something, but then closed it and scowled at her. "Magic and stuff I guess." he said finally.
She snorted at his answer. "Wow how does that brain in yours even fit in your head."
