(I'm sorry ;-; I can explain what happened-)
Terror shot through Alister as he pulled his arm from Ignis’ grip, stumbling to the side and shuddering gasps erupting from his throat. Even though the vision was over, he believed Ignis had died right in front of him for a few moments.
But Noel came for him. “Ali!” She wrapped her arms around his midriff, steadying him. She said in his ear, her voice shaky, “H-hey, it’s okay, it’s okay. I see him breathing. What happened?”
But he was in shock and couldn’t answer. He managed to register that everyone was, in fact, alive, but it was all he could do just to do that. “I-“ he began, but he started to hyperventilate. Almost instinctively, Noel moved her hands around his rib cage and a dull grey light pulsed from her fingers. It seemed to seep into Alister’s body, calming his lungs and his breathing.
As she was doing this, she tried to take in everything that was happening for him, quickly turning his body away as Kali and Amara began to shout at each other so he wouldn’t see. She wanted to shout at them to stop, but she had to focus. And it was just as well, since Ignis woke up soon after.
She let go of Alister as he tried to explain what happened, though it raised more questions than answers. Her brother slowly faced the others, whispering, “I’m okay, I’m okay,” as he took deep breaths in between.
But Noel knew he was not. And she knew that she had to be strong, for his sake. As Ignis eventually explained, the vision he saw would have most definitely triggered his PTSD. She nearly weeped when Ignis described him doing the same over her ashes. But at the same time, it was nearly too much to take in. She was still reeling from the possible fact that dad may have been like them, and she desperately wanted time alone with Alister to talk about it, to process everything. And now this.
A hiccup. Noel jerked her head to see Alister’s wet, cloudy eyes glance gratefully at her before he leaned on her with another hiccup. She glanced back at Kali and Ignis, her eyes hard as steel.
“We… have many questions.”
"Ask away, Although i doubt my answers will help much." she sighed, staring at the kids her normal dead expression on her face processing everything that had happened, she hated it all save for the fact that ignis was okay and he didn't forget her.
Ignis peered his eyes at Alister and Noel, realizing their amount of disbelief and shock, "Perhaps, I should not have said too much. I am willing to explain if you wish. I just hope it will answer more than create more questions."
Noel took a deep breath. “First, what do you mean by a Shadow? Second, who is Arcanis? And, um…” She closed her eyes, trying to collect her thoughts. “What did you mean by Life, Light, Dark- those elements- being spoiled? And do you know why the vision happened and what it means?”
She thought that covered most of it.
Ignis sits on the counter he leaned on and took a deep breath, "A Shadow is a being with an intense corruption in their heart. Their soul and body work towards death and bringing the world into chaos. Arcanis was their leader. Elementals were once viewed as gods. There were shrines, temples, weapons, and artifacts built in their name. As for the vision, I haven't the slightest idea why they have appeared. Perhaps it pertains to the Guardian's Gate."
Kali just puts a hand on his shoulder for letting him know shes there if needed but other then that she stands to the side not having much to input. i doubt hey would want to here that the three of them have all come close to being a shadow.
“And what is the Guardian’s Gate?” She asked as she tried to register the fact that such things exist. Her eyes were wide and piercing, her mouth set in a thin line. Alister tried to focus as he leaned on her.
Ignis looked at Kali and smiled. Ignis began to focus on Angel. As their eyes turned gold, his voice changed slightly, "This so called "Guardian's Gate" is not a haven for us as many may think. It houses a dark force called the Equinox. Throughout the years, Guardians were tasked with helping secure this darkness in a hidden seal. The only way we could was to stay on the other side and hold it off as our masters closed the gate."
Something sort of clicked inside the siblings. So, this our new reality now. We can’t turn back, can we?
They watched in a sort of fascination as Ignis’ eyes turned gold. Then Noel’s brow furrowed.
“So… your dragon-,” she pointed to Ignis, ”- and your dog-“ She pointed to Kali, “they’re your Guardians? Then shouldn’t they be on the other side of the gate? Or did I misunderstand?”
"Incorrect," Ignis's voice was clearly not his his own, "My master spoke clearly. The gate has opened. And now I fear that many creatures are to arrive, demons."
“Oh,” she rubbed her hand on her temple, still unused to the strange voice echoing from Ignis’ mouth. She sighed. “Wonderful. That’s… all the questions I have. I’ll let you know when I have more.”
"he's a hell hound." she huffed muttering. "which would mean more fighting." she sighed
(i should have refreshed-)
Ignis's eye returned to normal, he began to loosen up and even cringe. He speaks with a normal voice, "Ugh, Angel I thought you could only talk through my head. When you do that just ask, possession sucks."
"yeah maybe you should ask first? especially if its your master???" she narrowed her eyes at angel. "i don't know it just seems like common sense to me." Kros Agrees
“Are you alright?” Alister asked softly. Noel gave him a look. “Are you seriously asking that? Look at yourself!”
He merely chuckled. “Ah, you know me, El. I care too much.” His voice was slow and mumbling.
"It's more complicated than that," Ignis responds to Kali. He then rubbed his eyes and yawned. His burning every time he closed his eyes. Every muscle sore from the strain and spasm the sigil put him through, "I am about as tired as a snorlax from pokemon. I'll be heading to bed. You are welcome to stay the night. Each room is fitted with beds, towels, hot water, and a tv. It won't be stealing if you take from the cafeteria just clean when you're done. Angel will move if any more wish to leave."
"wow i didnt expect you to know pokemon." genuinely shocked a little. "Hey ignis mind if we talk before you go bed?" she asked him completely expecting rejection.
(Goodnight. Pls don’t let it go on again, I care about this rp like Alister cares about Ignis and Noel :’)
Ignis was at the foot of the stairs when he stopped. He heard the words of Kros. He slightly turns his head and speaks low, "No. Their life is just more valuable than my own." he proceeds upstairs. He knew it was true, yet it wasn't. He couldn't explain everything, but he knew no matter what, he had to keep his promise. The very promise that kept him from being a Shadow he was almost being.
(would you mind if it was just kali and ignis talking? i completely understand either way)
(ah wait i edited the post-)
Kali could hear Ignis's voice, "Come on."
she followed after him saying goodnight to the kids.
