Nyir nodded at the look in Armand's eyes. "It's…Armand, it's a gladiator battle. To the death." Her fists clenched. "What are we going to do?"
Nyir nodded at the look in Armand's eyes. "It's…Armand, it's a gladiator battle. To the death." Her fists clenched. "What are we going to do?"
(Rosa, rebel, prisoner)
Rosa sat alone, in her cell
Armand nodded, swallowing. "I'm not.. certain. I, well.. I had an idea, if it turned out to be that." He turned his option over in his mind for a moment, looking at himself and his crumbling frame before answering. He knew he wasn't of much use any more besides his medicine and science. But he had something else to give. "Empathy Punishment." He looked down at his feet.
(Empathy punishment is when a good friend of the condemned feel guilty and are able to spin a wheel and lose a body part in front of the crowd instead of finishing the duel.)
"We can see how he does. If he can't make it, I'll take the punishment." He looked her dead in the eye now.
(WOAHH GAME CHANGER
but wouldn't that look like treason? i mean we could have them be related and it would make snese)
Nyir's mouth went dry. The empathy punishment had never been used before. Rebels and loyalists were too different, too at odds, to ever even consider it. But now… "Armand…are you sure?"
(It would. But he could prove himself again, idk, he's still gotta torture some people.)
"You know that whatever part they take, I'll most likely be able to replace." he sighed. "It's not.. that big of a deal. A little pain never hurt anyone." he looked away from Nyir. "But.. only if he really can't beat his opponent. I won't throw myself out there at the first chance I get." though he almost wanted to. He was ashamed of what Kodiak had done behind the Society's back, but he didn't want to lose the man, and Armand wasn't worth any more himself.
(im gonna cry this character development is amazing)
(I know right I'm in love with this story)
"Well. If you're certain." Nyir swallowed hard. She felt immeasurably guilty. This whole thing was her fault, her responsibility, but she was letting Armand and Kodiak suffer instead of her. She decided, to herself, that if the time came, she'd take Armand's place. Steely eyed, she nodded. "Battle's tomorrow morning. Let's hope for the best."
(this is the best RP ever tbh I'm so glad I'm part of it)
He knew what she was thinking. He knew that Nyir cared a million times deeper for Kodiak than Armand, but he wasn't sure what it would take to keep her from it. "Nyir, I'm a deteriorating man who grows madder by the day," he spoke softly. "You're a young, strong, and incredible woman who still has a lot to offer the world." he hoped that she would only make a decision that was necessary, though her definition may have been different.
(saaammee!)
"Thank you, Armand," was all she said with a smile gentler than he'd ever seen from her. Running her hands through the parts in between her cornrows, she sighed, letting the tension ease from her shoulders. For the first time in a while, she felt like she had a semblance of control. It was a good feeling.
He nodded, looking down again, unsure. But he thought he might as well worry about something he couldn't control, while he muttered a, "Welcome" to his friend. With his usefulness spent, he looked down at the notes he still held in his hands, grimacing to himself. Was it worth it? Trading this salvation for the damnation he was going to receive by harming these people, it seemed selfish to try to make himself feel better. He was a bitter, terrible human being.
Nyir grasped his forearm affectionately before leaving the office, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
Rowan did as she was told and went back to her cell. The place didn't really seem like a cell to be honest. It was warm and cozy. Alight it was only next door, it took her some time, with Yuki's aid, to walk back. Thanks to Armand's syringe, her foot was healed, although it still felt weird and uncomfortable. According to Armand that would wear off. Once she made it back, she sat on her bed and looked up at Yuki. "Are you sure it's safe for you here?" She asked, biting her lip with worry.
“No, but safety doesn’t matter. Nothing is safe in this world anymore.”, Yuki replied.
(I’m back!)
Rowan sighed, knowing it was true. "Do you have a plan at least? Any ideas on what we do when I can run again?"
“I’ll break you out. Somehow.” She stopped pacing and looked Rowan in the eyes. Yuki then took her shoe off revealing an artificial foot. “Y’know I guess we have something in common. It took me a while to be able to run as fast as I used to, but then again, I didn’t have as good of a doctor as you. I’m sure soon you will be able to run.”
Rowan let out a laugh, bitterness edging it. "I guess we do have that in common." She sighed, running a hand through her tangled locks. "I don't think Armand is going to hurt me. I know you don't, but I trust him." She admitted quietly, expecting to be scolded.
“Actually, I’ve talked with him and I don’t think he’s that bad. But remember, you are still in the hands of the enemy and Armand is still under President Harris’s command.”, Yuki said. “President Harris can still tell Armand what to do and when it comes to President Harris you must expect the worst.”
"I know…" Rowan replied monotonously. She'd been raised by rebels and groomed to be a revolutionary her entire life. Although Rowan still hated President Harris, she didn't have the field experience to back anything up. Yuki's words remindered her of her parents who were both on separate spy missions. The one thing Rowan knew for a fact that she wanted was the end of this war. It had torn apart too many families. "I just… he doesn't seem like he'd harm me. Even under orders." Rowan said resolutely. Armand had payed more attention to her than her own father did when she was younger. Rowan had a good feeling about him, especially now that he'd healed her leg.
“I know.”, Yuki replied with a sigh. “Just be careful.”
"I will be, Yuki. Don't worry." Rowan assured her friend. "Besides, I have you to look after me, don't I?" She joked showing off a toothy grin.
