Tanrial smiled, “Yes, I know it hurts but your almost there.”
Tanrial smiled, “Yes, I know it hurts but your almost there.”
Bernon made one more monumental effort and felt suddenly off-balance. There was a certain weight on his back, pulling him down unexpectedly. He looked around and made a noise of surprise. "Woah, what the–I did it! I did it!" He punched the air happily, then paused. "They….look kinda weird, don't they? I think I messed up a little." The second joint of each wing was crooked and oddly rubbery looking.
“You did a good job, to fix.. that just focus on smoothing and straightening out that joint to match the rest. Imagine a bats wing, that joint is like a humans forearm.. if that helps.” She bit her lip, she wasn’t the greatest teacher.
"Got it." After a few minutes, the wings looked much better. "Gee, they're huge," Bernon breathed. "I could fill a king-size mattress with all those feathers."
Tanrial smirked, “Yeah, that’s true,” She noticed that Bernon’s wings were dragging on the ground, “Lift them up, you don’t know what objects could be down there. Practise tilting up, extending them, bringing them in and relaxing them. Repeat that until you’ve got it or until you fall in a heap.”
"Oh boy, yeah, I've got a brand-new pair of limbs to wrangle." Bernon made his wings lift up, and attempted to fold them. It was an unexpectedly complicated movement, and soon his new muscles began to tremble. Bernon laughed in exasperation. "Sheesh, c'mon. This is like being a toddler all over again. I'm getting used to their weight pretty fast, though."
(brb, having supper)
Tanrial mimicked the movements she told him to do easily, “Come on. No break until you have it.”
"Yes ma'am." It took a while, but eventually he was folding, unfolding, and stretching his wings in every direction possible. "The muscles feel pretty strong," he remarked. "Just a little stiff. Might be a few days before I'm brave enough to try flying with them."
“Crashing is the best part, you’ll enjoy that.” She said with a smirk
"Heh, sounds great. Um…how do I get rid of these things, by the way?"
“Just imagine them shrinking, disappearing.” She waved her hand and demonstrated.
Bernon did as she said, and his wings relaxed into his back until they were gone. "I just have to remember that it's all in my head. My thoughts control all of it." He snorted. "That's going to be a comforting thought when I'm a thousand feet up."
“You get used to it, but we’ll start small,” She looked at her stomach as it made a noise, “Let’s take a food break and if you’re up for it, see your shift.”
"Good plan. I'm starving." He grinned. "Who would have thought that using your imagination could be such hard work?"
“Well, it’s that and that well of magic but yeah, it’s hardworking sometimes.” She started to walk towards the house.
Bernon followed. "You're pretty good at it. I'm glad you're the one teaching me, I'd be completely lost if I tried to figure this out on my own."
“Thanks but It’s nothing, really.” She glanced back and smiled as they entered. Tanrial instantly began making some soup.
Bernon ducked upstairs to grab some more of his own food. "What kind of animal form do you think I have? Is there any way of knowing at this point?"
“Not that I know of. It could be a hybrid, you don’t know. We just have to wait and see.” She finished heating up the soup and sat down.
"Cool. Awesome." Bernon sighed feelingly. "Gosh, I'm still sort of in shock about all this. I should be over it by now, but, welp, I ain't. It's amazing, having magic. This literally changes everything, you know?" He looked down and rubbed the back of his neck. "Sorry, you're probably tired of me saying the same thing over and over. I'll shut up now."
“No, it’s fine really. To hear someone who’s actually excited by this is… different but great at the same time.” She smiled and sipped from the bowl.
He beamed gratefully. "Good. Glad I'm not annoying."
(gotta go to bed, seeya tomorrow! ^^)
(I may be gone when you first get on)
“Yeah, when you don’t have much contact with people, it nice to have someone talk a lot.”
