Tanrial just shrugged a shoulder, taking a small bite out of one of the plants, "To go see what Tinsnip was lookin' at the other day," She replied, taking a other bite before looking to Shiv, "And to get rid of the thing."
Tanrial just shrugged a shoulder, taking a small bite out of one of the plants, "To go see what Tinsnip was lookin' at the other day," She replied, taking a other bite before looking to Shiv, "And to get rid of the thing."
Shiv's eyes widened. "What thing? What did you guys find?" She lowered her voice. "Danthony was spreading rumors that there was a monster out there. He said he didn't see it, but the dogs were real scared of it."
She snorted and shook her head, "Nah, wasn't a monster. Just some entity trying to keep itself entertained by picking o the vulnerable around here."
An….entity?" Shiv's face scrunched up in confusion. "I don't know what that is…..but uh, I guess I'm glad it's gone. So how did you get rid of it? Was there a battle? Where you scared?"
Tanrial shook her head, leaning forwards onto her knees, "Nah, we just reasoned with it. Best thing you can do with those kinds of things. If we fought it we'd have ended up like Blue."
Every word she said seemed to impress Shiv even more. She opened her mouth eagerly to ask even more questions, but at that moment there was a commotion from a different part of camp. The bandits nearby all turned, staring at something on the edge of the trees with confusion. Shiv stood up to see better and opened her mouth in surprise. "Hey….there's Blue Tommy now!"
Blue Tommy was standing outside his hut, gazing around with wide eyes and look of sharp bewilderment. After a second, he stepped forward and spoke in a very cracked, toneless voice. "The ghosts are gone. Where did the ghosts go? Hey…..how come everybody has a face now? Where did you get faces?" He stepped back again, fidgeting with his knife uncertainly.
Tanrial stood up, slowly walking over to Blue, "Hey, don't worry we're not going to hurt you," She offered a smile, "I'm Tanrial. Boar-back and I helped get rid of the… thing that made you see all those ghosts."
His eyes locked onto her like the eyes of a hawk, and he didn't return the smile. But he did stop backing away. "You got rid of Kitty?……." He blinked. "The ghosts never bothered you. Where's your leaf mask? You had one this morning."
She tilted her head slightly, he smile fading, "Was Kitty one of your friends? And I never had a leaf mask, you imagined that, Blue."
"No you had one," he insisted. "It kept the ghosts away. Just like the boss, he's got a lion mask." His voice was warming up a bit by now, but there was an inherent roughness to it that might have always been there. "Kitty is my only friend. It makes me stronger and faster, but nobody else can see it. What did you do to it?"
"I'm sorry Blue but there was no 'Kitty'," She explained, "The chief and I got rid of the mirror that kept making you see things. You're back to the way you were before you met it, now, and so is Tinsnip."
Blue Tommy stared at her for a minute with a confused, suspicious expression, seeming unsure what to say or do. "Where is the chief?" he asked eventually. "I want to talk to him."
"In his tent," Shiv said nervously, pointing.
Blue Tommy ducked around them and trotted towards the indicated tent, casting a dark glare at the other bandits until they stopped staring at him. Shiv fidgeted, glancing at Tanrial. "Should we go after him?"
Tanrial trailed after Blue with her eyes, swallowing nervously before nodding, "Probably a good idea before he lashes out from fear or something." She said, heading in the direction he went.
Shiv quickly followed, and soon they were outside Boar-back's tent alongside Blue Tommy. He hesitated a moment longer, then took a stick and tapped it against a metal bar leaning nearby. This seemed to be how the bandits knocked, since the tent's door was made of cloth.
After a minute of silence, a shadow loomed in the entrance and Boar-back himself appeared, considering the three of them with a passive expression. "Yes?"
Blue Tommy paused, seeming suddenly unsure of himself. He opened his mouth, then closed it again, shifting from foot to foot. Finally, he pointed at Tanrial and blurted the words out. "She did something, boss, and now the ghosts are missing and everyone has faces and your mask is gone and so is my friend Kitty, and she says Kitty wasn't ever real but I know it was, I saw it for myself–"
"Tom." Boar-back held up a hand to stop him. "Can you hear yourself? Those are the first words you've spoken in almost four years. I'd say that you being able to talk is a good thing, yeah?"
"Well, maybe, but….."
"Why don't you find some food and water? You missed breakfast this morning. I'd like to talk with the medic for a minute, but after that you're free to come back and tell me all about the ghosts."
Blue Tommy stared at him, then reluctantly nodded. "Yes boss." Turning, he slunk off towards one of the campfires down the hill, leaving the other three alone.
She scratched at the back of her head and looked to Boar-back, "So… yeah I talked to him… and uh, tried to explain everything that had happened but he just won't believe me! He's convinced what he was seeing, was real… and whoever this 'kitty' figure was is real."
Boar-back folded his arms, considering. "Well, he had to deal with his hallucinations for years. It could take him quite a while to accept that he can't see those things anymore." The bandit leader frowned at Blue Tommy's distant form. "We'll have to wait and see how he does, I guess. In the meantime, what do you think about his physical health? Does he seem to be doing all right? That haunted mirror mentioned he might feel some old wounds once it left."
(Sorry I had drama all day and then I was hangin with da boifren)
"I didn't really get a chance to look. He looked like he was struggling with a sore throat and lose of voice but that's probably because he hasn't spoken in a while. We might just have to sit him down so I can really have a look at him."
(that's all right, hope you had fun ^^)
Boar-back nodded. "I'll let you have him when we're done with our chat later." He turned to look at Tanrial. "In the meantime, why don't you go check on that final patient of yours? I'm sure Rezzi knows where you can find his sick brother."
"Sounds like a good idea. Is Rezzi nearby?" She asked, quickly glancing around before looking back to him.
"That looks like him over there," Boar-back replied, pointing. Sure enough, Rezzi was not far away, having just walked into camp from behind the trees.
"Okay, thanks, seeya later." She gave Boar back a small salute before turning on her heel and heading towards Rezzi, "Rezzi! Wait up!"
Rezzi heard her call and halted, turning. He looked like he'd been losing sleep lately. "Yeah? What is it?"
"Hey, I've come to check up on your brother, see how he's goin'," She said, offering a small smile, "You look like you haven't slept for a while, too…"
Despite his weariness, Rezzi brightened. "I'll be fine. Follow me, I'll take you to him." He turned and headed towards the northern edge of camp, glancing around carefully as he went.
Shiv trotted after Tanrial, looking decidedly nervous for some reason. "Um….do you think you'll need my help with this, Tanrial? I can sure stick around if you want me to…"
Tanrial shrugged a shoulder and shook her head, "Nah, I should be okay. Oh, but can you do me a favor and fun and grab my bag please? I might need some of the stuff in it."
