“That’s not suspicious at all…” Tanrial muttered to herself as she slipped back into the small hut. She leaned back with a sigh, staring st Blue Tommy as if studying him.

He noticed after a second and gave her a wary look in return, drawing his knees closer to his chest as he sat outside. He might have been menacing, and certainly dangerous, but close scrutiny seemed to be something that made even him nervous.
She narrowed her eyes at his back before looking away, bored. Even though she didn’t necessarily want people to be injured, Tanrial would have liked something to keep her entertained.
(Hey I see your user, not to pry but is everything okay? It's been a while since we had a chat ooc)
Unfortunately, she did not get her wish. The preparations for the raid were something to watch for a while–Never had there been a group more heavily armed with handmade and nasty-looking weaponry–but soon the attack force had left camp and all activity slowed to a crawl. Pretty much every bandit except the ones guarding the prisoners went to sleep.
But then, as the afternoon wore on, there was a slight sound from nearby, and a moment later Shiv popped into view, eyeing Blue Tommy warily.
"I'm sick," she hissed to him. "Lemme talk to the medic."
Blue Tommy gave her a skeptical once-over, but after she coughed pitifully a few times he sighed and moved out of the way. Shiv shot past him and entered the shed, eagerly peering into the darkness for Tanrial. "Medic lady?" she whispered. "Are you in there?"
(Yeah, Just under a lot of stress right now with school, some family stuff and ya know, general mental health not being great)
“Present,” Tanrial sighed, tilting her head to the side when she noticed Shiv and her fairly good condition, “What can I do for you?”
(Aw, that's no good. :( I hope at least some of those things get better soon hugs)
"I wanna ask you something." Shiv paused, glanced nervously at Blue Tommy, then shuffled a bit closer and made her voice even more quiet. "Will you….teach me how to be a medic?"
(hugs back thanks, I hope so too)
Tanrial’s eyes widened just a tad but she nodded, “Totally. Someone’s gotta keep this place in check when I get outta here.”
(np ^^)
Shiv stiffened excitedly. "How much can you teach me without the magic part? I can't do no magic."
"I know," She replied, leaning forwards a little, "I can still teach you how to stitch, clean and bandage a wound. How to put a broken arm back in place…"
Shiv gave a smile that seemed both enthusiastic and uncertain, as if she half-expected Tanrial to suddenly pull a knife on her and say "just kidding, and now I'm going to get you in trouble with the chief." But she must have decided to trust Tanrial anyway, because she nodded. "Once I know how to do those things, maybe the chief will let me be th' medic. " She brightened even more at the thought. "What do I have to learn first?"
Tanrial leaned back a little, "How to clean a wound and make sure there's no infection."
"Okay!" In an instant Shiv whipped out her knife and had it hovering over her own exposed arm. "Want me te make a cut then, so's you can show me?"
Tanrial frowned slightly, hesitant and trying to think of anything way to show Shiv before coming to a dead end. Reluctantly, she nodded, "Yeah. Don't cut too deep, though."
Shiv made as if to draw her knife across her arm, then hesitated, noticing the fact that her blade was less-than-spotless. She quickly polished off the worst of the grime with the edge of her shirt until the blade gleamed in the dull light from outside. Only then did she make the cut, wincing a bit as she began to bleed. "Okay. Now what do we do?"
"You've got to stop the bleeding," She grabbed a fairly clean cloth, gently taking Shiv's arm and placing the cloth over top, "Make sure to apply pressure."
"Okay." Shiv seemed completely focused on Tanrial's instructions, her eyebrows knitted together in concentration. "How do you keep it from getting infected? There's not any magic in that part, right?"
"No, there's not. You've just got to make sure to keep the wound clean and not strain it too much until it's healed. If there is an infection there are herbal remedies you can make to help."
Shiv looked up with a level of surprise that did not speak volumes for the group's survival rate. "That's it? Just keep it clean?….I never thought of that." She looked ridiculously puzzled about the whole matter. "But wait, how's cleaning it s'posed to help? That don't make any sense. It's gotta be something trickier than that."
"By keeping it clean, you're keeping away any chances of bacteria or germs getting into the wound. Cleaning and bandaging it quickly will help but you've got to make sure you change the bandages often when they become dirtied. Keeping on a dirty bandage won't help anyone. Look, I'll give you a recipe for a simple ointment you can clean them with, no magic involved."
Shiv smiled widely–the first real smile she'd given Tanrial since they'd met. "Really? Thanks! You're so smart, I wanna learn how to be just as smart as you! If–if I can, anyway."
Tanrial smiled back, going slightly red at what Shiv said, "It just takes time and practice. I'm sure you'll be as smart or even smarter then me very soon."
Shiv squirmed awkwardly, fiddling with her tangled hair. "Maybe….everybody says I'm pretty stupid, so it might take me a bit longer than you think. B-but I'll try to learn really fast! I promise!"
(I'm off to bed, seeya tomorrow ^^)
(Seeya)
"I don't think you're stupid," Tanrial replied, shrugging a shoulder, "And I know you will, if you listen and remember then you''ll be fine."
"I will," Shiv said earnestly. "I'll listen really hard and remember everything. If I learn how to be a medic, I'll be really important. Instead of people bossing me around, I'll get to boss them around." She beamed at the thought. "Please keep teachin' me."
