(gotcha, np)
"You're probably right. Still, I'm glad we went out here and caught him before he left." Bernon spotted Dane passing by not far away and waved. "Hey Dane, you got a second?"
"Not really," Dane said, but changed course and walked over to them anyway. "What is it?"
"If Mike and Tanrial and I are taking the data drive west, we'll need a map of the country. The more detailed and up-to-date the better. I was wondering if you knew where we could find one?"
Dane frowned and glanced at the lake as he tried to think, seeming to have trouble focusing on the question when his whole army was uprooting itself around him. "Well, uh….lessee, a map…." He shook himself and massaged his forehead. "All our maps are the old printed kind with red notes and updates all over 'em, or just scrawled pictures on scraps of paper. Sorry, but we can't even spare one of those for ya. Maybe you should try asking Polla."
"That was our next plan, yeah. Thanks anyway." Bernon smiled and shook Dane's hand. "Safe travels. Take a nap before you leave, okay man? You look exhausted."
Dane was already returning to work. "Don't worry, we won't be leaving until dawn tomorrow. You guys have a safe trip too."
"We will," Bernon called. "Okay, now to Polla. I guess Dane was a longer shot than I realized."
“Yeah. But, I guess if I was in his shoes and his position I’d say the same thing to keep any maps. Shame they can’t lend us one even if it is old but… you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.” She shrugged.
"Yep. Maps are almost as valuable as doctors these days….as long as they're not total garbage." Bernon poked his head back into the tavern, spotted Polla, and went in. "Hey Polla, do you know where we can find a reasonably good map of the country?"
Polla glanced up at them, then furrowed his brow thoughtfully. "We haven't needed a map for years, here in this village…."
"Oh." Bernon's shoulders drooped.
"…but," Polla continued. "I've heard there's a man in the village southeast of here that makes the most beautiful, accurate maps. They say he used to be a surveyor of some kind. His work won't be cheap, but most businesses accept trades or skill-payments around here."
Bernon brightened. "Thank-you. Maybe we'll head over there tomorrow, it's getting kind of late."
"Aye, and take your weapons. It's only a morning's walk through the woods, but just far enough that you may have to worry about bandits." Polla turned and headed for the door. "Good luck."
"Thanks Polla, we appreciate it. Have a nice evening," Tanrial gave her a smile, " And make sure to get a good nights sleep."
She grinned. "Will do. You too."
Bernon glanced at his list again and made a little note in the corner. "All right, so that's the map figured out….hopefully. Hey, do you still have any of the potions you took from your house?"
"Uh… I have a couple yeah, can't remember which ones they were but they're in my bag," Tanrial shrugged, "We can check now or I can later."
"Ah, let's go through them now. I was thinking, if the next town has a map-maker, they might have a decent market too, and we could buy a lot of what we need there. But it's too late to go today, so we might as well stay inside. If we go through the potions you have now and you think you'll need to make more, we can shop for ingredients in the morning. Sound good?"
"Sounds like a plan. Come on then." They walked back to the tavern and up to her room, Tanrial going to grab her bag where she kept all her things and her potions.
(oof sorry I'm late)
Bernon glanced at the window as he waited in the doorway. "I wonder how Mike's doing out there….doesn't seem like there'd be many traveling groups to find in this area, if that's what he's still up to."
(All g ^^)
"You can come in you know," Tanrial muttered, "You just have to stand there. And I agree with you. I guess Mr Mysterious back up to his old tricks."
"Oh, right…. sorry." Bernon glanced at her tentatively. "Hey, um, did you guys have an argument recently? I was out of the game for a while–did I miss something? You seem a little snippy, but maybe I'm just overly sensitive."
Tanrial sighed, "Sorry, I don't mean to be. Mike and I… we might've had a small argument on the way back here."
(gahhh now I gotta go eat >.< )
Bernon sat down on the edge of the bed. "What was it about?"
(Boooiii, okay lol XD)
Tanrial shrugged, starting to organise the potions on the bed, "Well, Rick and I were talking to one of the prisoners who was really nice when she started asking Mike some questions and he responded rudely and told her to go walk with other people. Rick told Mike that the reason why she might have been was talking to him was because she liked him. Mike, again, responded rudely and I called him out on it."
Bernon frowned. "Oh. Wow. That's weird….and I suppose he didn't take it very well when you called him out, did he?"
"It's Mike, of course he didn't. He wandered off and walked with Thranion and the others and left Rick and I behind." She shrugged.
"Well…." Bernon sighed. "At least you can say you tried. He's kind of a difficult person to get along with sometimes, isn't he? I guess he doesn't have much in the way of people skills, but that excuse only holds for so long."
"Yeah. And we had that talk with him awhile ago, didn't we? About him at least trying to be better? I guess he's probably forgotten."
"Maybe we should take him aside when he gets back and give him a little reminder. I mean, sometimes these things are better off dropped, but we could just let him know how we feel and see how it goes. We're the people closest to him, so he must respect our judgement somewhat….right?"
"You'd think so. I mean, if he didn't he's the type of guy who'd tell us. Sometimes I think he's too brutally honest but that could also be a good thing… I think. But it might be a good idea to just remind him, yeah."
Bernon nodded. "Sounds like a plan. How about we take your potions down to the main room so we know when he gets back?"
"Okay, sure thing." Tanrila smiled a little and stuffed the bottles back into her bag.
Bernon led the way downstairs and found an empty table in the corner for them. "So, what do you have there? Anything good?"
"Well, there's about half a bottle for healing," Tanrial said, pulling out the bottle, "A few for strength and speed too."
(I gotta go to bed now, but I'll try to be on earlier tomorrow)
"Nice," Bernon said, admiring them. "We can always use more medical options, and those others could come in handy too. Extra speed is never something I'll say no to. I'm not sure what's possible to make, but are there any particular potions you think we might need on our trip?"
