Zanna looked up at both of them, her eyes looking colder and deader than ever before, "It's not cool or unique. It's a pain. Do you guys even realize how many times I want to just feel something, anything, other than pain? A lot. And then I have to go on with the knowledge that it's not going to happen, it's never going to happen. I can't ignore it since it's always so blatant in my face. So no it's not cool, it is in fact very much a pain."
Laura was taken aback. "I-…" She went silent for once in her life. She rubbed her arms and looked at the ground.
"Sorry…." She says quietly as she looked away. She did feel bad for Zanna. She couldn't imagine not having emotions.
Maybe…..maybe they weren't human after all?
"If we aren't human….then….what are we?"
“I have no clue,” Zanna responded. She had shoved her hands into her pockets and leaning against the wall of the dorm.
Laura had thoughts racing through her head. She slowly was replaying both conversations in her head. "Well what are we?" She asked nobody..
"Experiments," Zanna commented, "It's the most logical answer I can think of."
Laura looked at her. "Experiments… with code numbers, that are being taught skills like climbing and how to knock a out man who is double the size of you in three swift moves…" she ran a hand through her hair. "And some of us seem to not be up to their standards, but if what?" She asked looking at the two.
"What if what?" Zanna asked, "You're just starting to question this now?"
"No, I was questioning it forever ago to be honest. I didn't know it at the time but I heard someone talking about numbers and codes." She defended.
"I just always found it weird that we were being taught all of these things. I've heard schools don't normally teach these type of things…" She says to them as she looked down to the ground.
Zanna looked at the two of them, "At least you aren't idiots. That's something good I've discovered from today."
CC was confused by that statement but didn't say anything.
She rubbed her arm nervously and looked around. "Should we at least tell the others about it? What about Rowan and Levi?"
Laura looked at her arms crossed. "We should, maybe that other kid too- Hayden was it?" She asked trying to think.
"Yeah….should we tell them?" She asks as she raked her finger through her long hair. Man, she needed to cut it
Laura straightened her posture. "We do, but we should wait to tell Levi, if he is still his "bubbly" self it won't work great… at least I don't think. I'm not sure how it'll work out." She replied biting her lip.
"I'm sure he'll take it……fine." She says concerningly. "I mean…hes pretty chill, right? I don't think he would freak out or anything."
"Who knows." She replied. "We should try and find them, Zanna any opinions?"
"We should tell them," Zanna responded still dead voiced, "It's no good to keep people in the dark."
She nodded in agreement. "Alright, we go find them and tell them." She opened her dorm door and started out. "Come on let's go!"
Zanna pushed themselves off the wall and walked towards the door, "Come on let's go."
Laura nodded as they made their way to go find everyone. "So who are we looking for first?" She asked arms crossed.
"Wait! I think i gave Hayden my number! Lemme just-oh wait" she remembered that her phone was broken. "Nevermind then….should we split up or what?" She looked up from her shattered phone.
"I'd rather not get totally busted, it'll be strange if three random kids are wandering around by ourselves at one time. We should stick together." She suggested. "But do we have any other opinions?"
"Do we know where there dorm rooms are?" Zanna asked, "Or we could roam the boy dorms to find them."
Laura bit her lip. "Forgot about that part. I think I know where Levi's is… and maybe Rowan? Hayden- I didn't even know he existed." She made a mental list in her head.
