Mercy couldn't think of anything to say. She hadn't reacted well. All that talk… and her responses were sluggish at best.
My last fight wasn't that long ago… Was it?
Maybe it was for the best… An attack of what she had been planning… Her assignment would have been terminated and her location would be exposed. Earth wouldn't be safe for her anymore.
She was ashamed of her inaction. Apologizing wouldn't be enough.
Lying, he put the orb to his arm, burning his skin.
"Like i said…. you obviously dont know me. Because if you did, you would know, that i dont care."
He lied to him. But he made sure this guy couldn't tell he was. For all he should know, he didn't care, not a bit.
His eye gave him, a few things, abilities you could call it. Helping him lie was a good one.
(I'm really sorry I wasn't very active during all that. I just got off work IRL, and wasn't as quick on the draw as I wanted to be. ;.;)
Finneas wheezed at the burn, “Gh!! You-you’re a monster.” He stammered. After closing his eyes for several moments he opened them again to Rune, who was a petrified mess.
Her screams replaced with sobbing, and not really sure why because she could never cry as a raven, “Please…” she whispered to Young-Jae, “No..”
"I said I would just lock him up, didn't I? But hey! If you wanna go back, to whatever he did to you, instead of being free and getting to do what you actually want, getting to see all of the shiny things you want. But if you dont want to have a good life, be my guest, and just know that I tried"
He said getting severely annoyed kicking the man on the ground, stepping on his face.
Naide yanked Rune back, looking into her birdlike eyes.
"he's right…. do you want to stay? or do you want to go with him?"
Rune yelped, staring back at Niade in silence. She swallowed nervously, not knowing what to say.
Finneas grunted and spat to the side, “I told you she can’t understand you! She’s a bird.”
”She’s smarter than you think!” Mercy finally snapped. ”I don't know what you've put her through but I know that if anyone is the monster here it's you, Finneas.” She spat his name like a curse.
Turning towards Rune, she gently placed a hand on the girl’s shoulder. ”Rune, do you want to be free?”
Kicking him in the ribs once again, he spat on him as he did the floor.
"better clean that blood off of the floor."
He sad angrily, then turning to Rune, letting her think about whether she wanted to be happy or not.
“I know more than all of you how smart she is!” He rasped, “I taught her!*
Rune clicked the back of her tongue in thought. You, free. Freedom meant flying, she wanted to fly, “Yes.”
Finneas’ expression crumpled, “No…no, Rune, it’s me, Pretty Bird, please, I’ll take better care of you, I’ll let you Outside more, and give you more those cherries you like.”
When he was locked in the ribs he yelped again, heaving blood and bile onto the floor.
"rune…… notice how he calls you bird. Youre not an actual being to him. He wants you only for him. Hes a liar"
Naide said to her, knowing she wouldnt understand it all, but she just needed her to understand some words. The important ones
“She—She is an actual being to me! She just—she just isn’t human” He rasped, “She belongs as a bird because she is one—because—“ he coughed, “She was never meant to be human. I made a mistake—I want—I want my friend back.”
Mercy nodded, showing her agreement with Young-Jae’s words. ”Finneas doesn't really care about you, Rune. But I… We do. We know he has hurt you, we never will and we won't let anyone else.”
Kicking him harder than ever, Young-Jae threw the orb at him. Burning his side.
"Shut up you liar, you think we're going to believe you? What are you… A child?"
He said in a harsher voice.
“Aren’t you listening to me?” Finneas grew irritated, well, as much as he could being kicked in the ribs. “I do care! Your friend here just said he didn’t care about her.”
Rune meld her deep from as she looked from Niade, to Mercy, then to Finneas. Still, she couldn’t given them an answer, we’re they saying she had to leave Finneas for good..? “Hurt.”
"he hurts you"
Naide tried to put it into simple words.
"if you stay with us… no more hurt"
Naide loosened her grip on her, not letting her go though.
Rune understood that, relenting a bit away from Finneas and closer to Niade and Mercy, “Don’t..don’t hurt him.”
"Fine!"
Young-Jae said throwing his hands up in the air dramatically. Hes already hurt him enough.
"okay…. us? or him?"
Rune wasn’t sure what Young-Jae meant, so she stayed silent.
“Just let me go..” Finneas pleaded, “I won’t bother you again.”
"yeah right…. get this off of her, or ill hurt you so badly you'll be begging me to kill you. And i dont care about what Rune says."
He steps towards him, not kicking him, but threatening to.
”He's right.” Mercy’s eyes were still cold but her form returned to fully human.
”I honestly don't believe that you have ever cared about Rune, but I’ll give you a chance to prove me wrong. It's far more than you deserve but… Remove your shackle from her arm.” Her voice held no emotion. She didn't really think he would but for Rune’s sake…
”This will prove your word as well. As long as she wears it you’ll always be able to find her… And now that includes us.”
Finneas sighed through his nose, “I can’t do it here, and you have to believe me. I have to take her back to our home, or at least my home here on Earth. You can come with if you don’t trust me.”
Looking back at the rest, he didnt trust him one bit.
"WHy cant you?"
He crossed his arms stepping towards him more, subtly stepping on his fingers,
his glare technically said "dont even think about it"
Finneas winced, “Because I don’t have anything to take it off with, I kind of need my alchemist supplies.”
"then bring it here…."
He snapped at him. Naide let go of her letting Mercy take her, gaining her wolf form, she snarled at him.
Young-Jae forgot how big she was every single time.
