Adderpaw purred, "that'd be nice! come on!" he jumped to his paw, a bit of snow sprayed behind him. "race you to outside the camp!" Shadowpaw blinked and stood up but Adderpaw had already raced outside camp with a playful chuckle, Ravenshade jumped out of the way as her son raced past her. She sighed as she watched his tail disappear through the Torn Tunnel. Adderpaw continued to run, snow and snow melt let out a storm of its own behind him.
Shadowpaw raced after Adderpaw, quickly spotting him ahead of her. She soon managed to catch up to him. "You're fast!" She called, leaping gracefully over a small bush in her path. "I can't believe I've never raced you before!" She let out a laugh and grinned at him.

Adderpaw laughed, pushing father ahead, he could see the twolegplace fence coming up from up ahead in the distance. Then he noticed a massive oak tree in his peripheral (is that how you spell??) vision, slowing down slightly, he notice the very few leave that clung to the branches, where dusted with snow. "Watch this!" he called over his shoulder. Swiftly turning towards the tree, he lept gracefully over a puddle full of snowmelt and launched on the tree. Crawling upward, and using his claws to help him, he made it to the first low hanging branch. The snow and the branch shook from under his paws. Perking his ears up he could hear the faint sound of a squirrel scattering from above. I don't really like squirrels…but..maybe I could impress Shadowpaw! climbing up higher, he looked up to see a small pale ginger squirrel dash upward onto another thick branch. Shadowpaw called from down below but he couldn't hear what she had said, the scent of prey and the need to impress was too strong. Leaping up again, he saw the squirrel facing him. Its beady little eyes full of fear, Adderpaw tried pushing himself up but his hind paw slipped from underneath him. The squirrel took its chance to escape, gasping, Adderpaw swiped his paw and caught the squirrels tail in between his claws. The squirrel squeaked in surprise. Im gonna catch something! nipping forward, he got to squirrel's tail in his jaws and killed it with a awkward killing swipe. still holding the fresh kill in his jaws, he jumped down, leaping from branch to branch until he finally saw Shadowpaw looking up at him. Jumping into the snow pile, he flicked his tail in greeting. "Look what I caught!" he mewed, puffing his chest out.
"Nice job!" Shadowpaw mewed. "But I think I can catch something bigger." She gave Adderpaw a mischievous grin and pounced at him, pinning him beneath her paws.

Adderpaw's catch flew out of his mouth and he gasped in surprise as he was pinned to the ground. Adderpaw blinked up at her, his amber eyes full with confusion before it disappeared and he smirked, not saying a single word, Adderpaw bent up, licking her cheek. "guess you did catch something." he purred.
Shadowpaw's eyes widened and she felt heat rush to her face. "Yeah… I-I guess I d-did." She muttered, letting out a nervous laugh. She took a step back to let him up, looking at her paws without a word.

"come on." he mewed, standing up. "lets go find some leaves!"

Adderpaw smiled back at her before following in her paw prints that she had imprinted in the soft, powdery snow. Finally in front of the round, prickly bush, he grabbed a leaf with his claw. Going to grab another, he flinched as one of the sharp edges pierced his paw pad. "ow! annoying leaf." he grumbled, shaking his paw. A scarlet droplet fell onto the snow, turning a white snow red. Ignoring the pain, he grabbed the leaf with his teeth and spat it out. "How to the warriors not get injured making their masks?" he joked, turning towards Shadowpaw.

Shadowpaw shrugged. "No idea." She replied, "Getting brambles probably gives those ThunderClan cats at least a few scratches." She thought for a moment. "Then again, maybe they're just really careful with it." She glanced at the red patch in the snow, feeling a brief flash of concern before scolding herself. It's just a leaf, Shadowpaw. He'll be fine.
Adderpaw looked down at his paw and put it down into the chilling snow, the cooling feeling made Adderpaw sigh in relief. Grabbing a few more holly leaves with his claw, and with the help of the amazing, beautiful, talented, Shadowpaw of course, soon the two soon had a small pile. "I think this is enough." he mewed, "we can find some Pine Leaves later, I just wanna get these home." he huffed, grabbing a mouthful of the sharp leaves, he stood up. Shadowpaw following. The two apprentice began walking home when Adderpaw noticed the place he had left the squirrel, was empty! "wait" his mew was muffled, his eyes darkening with confusion, "what happening to my squirrel?" he mewed, pointing at the empty spot. The snow was pressed in and trail of paws disappearing past the bare, skinny looking pine trees.
(The 'amazing, beautiful, talented' bit made me smile.)
"Something must have taken it." Shadowpaw muttered, dropping her clump of holly leaves. "Or maybe someone came out here from camp and took it back, but how would they do it without us seeing?" She unsheathed her claws, her fur bristling. "Something's wrong." She crouched low to the ground, ready to spring if anything came out. "We should get out of here."
Adderpaw sniffed the air, confused and afraid. When he smelt rotten food and something strong and tangy, his nose scrunched up in disgust. "Someone's there.." he whispered, a frost cloud billowed out of his mouth as he spoke. Perking up his ears, he could hear clumsy footsteps, pawsteps loudly crunching the snow. Adderpaw fell into a crouch, his tail bristling and his claw unsheathed. "Lets hide in a tree," he mewed, "the camps to far away!" Turning his head, a thick tree stood tall, he nudged Shadowpaw and watched as she hesitated to walk over. "quick!" he whispered louder as the pawsteps grew louder. Any cat could hear them from a mile away! They're walking louder than a badger!!
