(It's time for dad to be mean lol)
"Really? But am I allowed to leave camp?" Hickorykit asked, confused. "I mean, maybe it'll be okay if I'm with you… I'll go grab dad." He got up unsteadily and headed over to Larchclaw. "Dad?" Larchclaw growled softly and looked up at Hickorykit with a threatening look. "Dad, are you awake?" Larchclaw huffed. "Um… okay. Hailflight and I are gonna go to the moonstone so I can meet mom, and we thought you might wanna— ah!" Larchclaw growled again and hissed as he jumped to his paws. He toppled Hickorykit easily and pinned the kit to the ground with one paw on his head. "I told you not to mention her." He growled angrily. "I-I'm sorry! I just… thought you might wanna go…"
~ Hailflight jumped to her paws with a hiss. "Larchclaw!" She padded up to him, eyes narrowed. "Let him go. Now." She dug her claws into the ground, her tail lashing.
Larchclaw rolled his eyes and lifted his paw off of Hickorykit's head before flopping back down into his nest. Hickorykit stumbled to his feet and cowered beside Hailflight, trembling violently with his fur puffed up in fear. "I don't think he wants to go…"
~ "How could you do something like that to him?" Hailflight mewed. "He's your son, and you treat him like rotten prey." She let out a low growl and took a step closer to Larchclaw's nest. "Honestly, I have no idea what Crescentshine saw in you." She continued. "Hickorykit and I are going to the Moonpool to see her, and if you ever loved her at all, you'll come with us."
Larchclaw hissed at Hailflight when she came close, the fur on his spine bristling. "Leave. If I want to see her, I'll go on my own time." Hickorykit cowered a bit more and turned to leave. "Y-Yes sir… sorry for bothering you." "You should be."
~ Hailflight turned away, looking back for a moment. What did she see in you, Larchclaw? She thought to herself, letting out a sad sigh as she left the den.
Hickorykit stuck close to Hailflight as he walked out, still noticeably trembling and hanging his head. "H-How far away is the moonpool?" He asked weakly.
~ Hailflight's eyes widened. She hadn't thought about it until now. "It's a bit far. The medicine cats and their apprentices go every half moon, but it'll be harder for you." She mewed, looking at Hickorykit. "If you're sure you want to go, then we will."
"I wanna go… I wanna meet mom." Hickorykit continued on, glancing around nervously. "And you can help me if I start having trouble." He paused at the camp exit. He'd never left before.
~ "Alright." Hailflight said with a nod. "Let's go." She padded out of camp, stopping right outside and looking back at Hickorykit.
Hickorykit hesitated a few more seconds before he followed Hailflight out. He stayed even closer to her now, not wanting to get lost outside of camp.

~ Hailflight stepped through the bushes and looked down at the Moonpool. "We're here." She mewed to Hickorykit, padding toward the water.

~ Hailflight stepped through the bushes and looked down at the Moonpool. "We're here." She mewed to Hickorykit, padding toward the water.
Hickorykit seemed to be exhausted by the time they arrived, panting hard and shaking violently from the cold. "Y-Yay…"
~ Hailflight picked Hickorykit up by the scruff and carried him down, sitting him at the edge of the water. "Here." She curled her tail around him to keep him warm.
"What am I s-supposed to do now?" He asked weakly, burrowing into Hailflight's fur so that he could warm up a bit.
~ Hailflight tilted her head for a moment. "I think you're supposed to drink some of the water… And then close your eyes and wait."
(Not sure if I'm right, but I'm pretty sure I remember the medicine cats doing it.)

"Okay…" Hickorykit tipped his head into the water and closed his eyes, settling down to wait for himself to show up in Starclan or to just see his mother. He wasn't quite sure how this worked, but he really hoped it would.
~ Hailflight did the same as Hickorykit, and waited with closed eyes. Please, Crescentshine. Let us see you.
Hickorykit hesitated for a minute or two before opening his eyes and finding himself somewhere else. "Hello?"
~ Hailflight heard Hickorykit's voice and opened her eyes as well. "I think…this is StarClan." She mewed, looking around. "Crescentshine must be here somewhere."

Hickorykit looked up at Hailflight and nodded, quietly padding along at her side as they looked around. "Mama?" He called out shyly. "Uhm… Crescentshine?" "Hickorykit?" He jumped upon hearing his name and looked around until he saw a lithe gray molly.
