When Hunter reached Kenzie, he felt a little bad for letting his anger get the better of him.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled as he unlocked his car. "About what I said. To your dad."

"Forget about it," Kenzie muttered, climbing into the car. She shook her head and laughed darkly. "I shouldn't have made you come up. It was stupid of me. Of course, my overprotective father would find some way to try and persuade me to stay away from you."

(Ohmygosh, I'm so excited! I just got a college essay back that I sent in, and I got an A-!!! The last one I got was a B!!! squeals)
Yay!!!!!)
Yay!!!!!)
(XD It pretty much made my day. I thought I was going to get a pretty bad grade on it, too!)
"Luna, why did you come here?" Matthew asked her. He turned his body toward her, his nose above her head, almost touching her hair.

"No, it was my fault," Hunter shook his head. "I should've controlled my anger better."
Kenzie sighed and looked out the window. "It's not your fault. I should've known that he'd freak out about you. He used to tell me about the things your dad did to him, telling me not to hang out with guys like him. I should have remembered that before dragging you into this mess."
"He's my father," Hunter muttered. "I am like him, as much as I hate to admit it."
Kenzie gave him a look, making him bite his lower lip.
"Don't make that face, Kenzie," Hunter sighed, pulling Kenzie towards him, trapping her between his chest and his arms.
Sucking in a shuddering breath, Kenzie let Hunter hold her. Then all the tears she had pent up from watching her father and Hunter arguing let loose and she sobbed into Hunter's shoulder.
"I'm sorry. That's not— that didn't go how I thought it would," she apologized between sobs.
"He was only trying to look out for you," Hunter murmured, running his fingers through her hair. "A normal father wouldn't let any of my father's offsprings near his daughter."
"Hunter," she whispered, looking up at him. Tears still flowed freely down her cheeks, but her face had a concerned expression. "Hunter, you're an amazing person. There is no reason my father should judge you by what he thought of your father in high school. That was a long time ago, and he should just let it go. Just like you need to let go of whatever is making you think this way."
Hunter chuckled, wiping away her tears.
"I don't like it when you cry, Kenz," he murmured, kissing her on the forehead. "It's true that your father shouldn't have judged me based on what my father was in high school, but what else could he do? I'm my father's son, Kenzie. There's no reason for your father to be accepting. I know I'm not like my father, but nobody knows if that'll stay the same. I don't know if I wouldn't turn into the monster my father is. I don't know if I won't do the same things he did, maybe even worse. But despite all of my fears, I don't want to leave you. I don't want you to leave me."
A light smile lifted Kenzie's lips, and she said quietly, "I'm not going to leave you. Not as long as you don't leave me."
(Ugh, I've gtg.) :(
"I won't leave you either," Hunter promised. "Now smile for me, Kenz."
(It's okay, I have to go too)
(I'm back. And so bored.)
Kenzie cocked her head to the side and gave Hunter a look before finally humoring him. She gave him the biggest smile she could muster, then pecked him on the cheek.
(I'm back!)
Smirking, Hunter trapped Kenzie between himself and his car. He leaned closer, his lips brushing lightly against Kenzie. He felt her get on her toes to kiss him, but before their lips touched, he changed the course and instead neared them closer to her ear.
"We should leave," he whispered, his lips curved up into a sly smirk.
Sweet revenge…
"Luna, why did you come here?" Matthew asked her. He turned his body toward her, his nose above her head, almost touching her hair.
"Well, I figured I'd learn more about this mysterious stranger who had somehow charmed me." Luna responded. She carefully looked up at Matthew and smiled at him.
Matthew laughed. "No, no. Of course, I knew why you followed me down here…" he gestured to himself, making Luna laugh even more.
"I meant, why did you come on this cruise?" When he saw Luna's face darken, he shook his head. "You don't have to answer that, I'm sorry."

(dies 😹)
Kenzie pouted at Hunter, then stuck her tongue out at him. "Fine. It's getting late, anyway, and we still have to pick my car up from school," she acknowledged.
Smirking, Hunter opened his car's door and sat inside.
"Yup, we should get going before it's too late," he agreed, still grinning.
Rolling her eyes, Kenzie got into the passenger seat.
"You know, our friends weren't even supposed to be on that date yesterday," she reminded Hunter, avoiding his eyes by looking out the window. She didn't want him to see the grin he had put on her face, even though he'd been teasing her.
