"I invited her to lunch with my family," Leo replied, grinning brightly at his girlfriend. "They all wanted to get to know Willow, so I invited her to spend the day with us and have lunch together. We joked around, my father wasted no opportunity in embarrassing the daylight out of me, and we also played a few games and ate pizza while watching movies. Unfortunately, Willow had to leave so I drove her home. But it was fun, and my parents adore Willow, so that's a plus."
Willow gently squeezed Leo's hand as she continued to look up at him.
"It was awesome. His mom showed me so many adorable baby pictures of him, and he got so red that I thought he would actually turn into a tomato," she explained teasingly.
"It sounds like you guys had a really good time," Kenzie laughed.
Leo groaned, covering his face with his hands, his ears pink.
"She had an opportunity and she took it," he groaned. "I was such a chubby baby…"
Hunter smirked.
"You were," he agreed teasingly. "He used to eat so much."
"Hey, you were cute as a baby! But trust me, you're cuter now," Willow said, playfully nudging Leo.
Kenzie just laughed as she watched them. They were really cute together. She wondered if Leo would propose soon…
Leo grinned before kissing her on the cheek.
"Thanks, Will," he smiled at her lovingly. "Now all I need to do is see your baby pictures and my life will be complete."
Hunter clicked his tongue.
"Get a room, you two," he said. Leo rolled his eyes.
"Says the guy who flirts with his girl- fiancee every second," Leo retorted before both of them shared a laugh. Willow and Kenzie started their own conversation, so Leo turned to Hunter.
"By the way, what did uncle Noah want from you?"
Hunter fell silent before shrugging.
"I don't know," he said truthfully. "It was too confusing. He… apologized? He looked sorry, and torn and hurt. I don't know whether I should trust him."
"I saw you talking to your dad," Willow said gently.
"Yeah… It was interesting," Kenzie said with a shrug. "He laughed at something Hunter said. A few weeks ago, he would have ripped his heart out…"
"Weird. Maybe he's just happy for you?" Willow suggested.
"Maybe… I hope he's warming up to Hunter, though. It would be great for him to get to know his future son-in-law," Kenzie mused.
(Son-in-law? :P)
"He said Kenzie reminds him of my mom," Hunter muttered painfully. "He talked about her for the first time after her death. I don't really know what to think at all." He turned to Kenzie and finally held out the small box his father had given him. "He said this belonged to my mother, that she wore it on their wedding. He said she wanted my wife- you to have it."
(This is what it looks like:)
(Yeah…?
Also, pretty!)
Kenzie looked from the box to Hunter in surprise, gently taking it from him. She opened it and carefully took the bracelet out.
"Wow… This is beautiful," she breathed. Glancing up at Hunter, she asked, "Do you want me to wear it? I won't if you don't want me to."
(Oh yeah)
"Wear it," Hunter replied. "If you want, that is."
(Lol.)
"If you're sure you want me to wear it, I'd love to," Kenzie whispered with a smile.
"Of course I'd want you to wear it," Hunter replied like it was obvious. "Honestly, I've seen their wedding photos before, but I never noticed the bracelet."
Kenzie gently set the bracelet back in the box and closed it. She held it out to Hunter.
"Hold onto it for me? I don't want to lose it," she explained.
Hunter nodded and took the box.
"Yeah, I'll keep it safe," he replied. "Anyway, everyone looks like they want to eat us. It's creepy."
"We should go talk to them," Kenzie laughed. "And tell them that they're free to eat."
(Skip to the end of the party? Or later?)
(Let's skip :P I have to go, though.)
(Oof, darn.
Okay… When to?)
(Er, whenever you want, I guess?)
(How about a week before the wedding? Unless there's still stuff to do that I forgot about…)
(A week before the wedding’s fine.)
(Great! It was October 7, right?)
Months filled with planning and preparation for the wedding passed quickly, though Kenzie often felt as if time had stopped. By the time the wedding was in only a week, she had become so nervous that she was usually chewing on her lip, tapping her fingers, or bouncing her leg.
Now, just seven days before she was to be married, she stood in front of a large mirror. This would be the last fitting for her wedding dress, and it was going perfectly. The dress fit, hugging her in all the right places and covering her where it needed to.
"Kenzie, for the last time, you look amazing," Willow assured her from the side. "Trust me, nothing would look better on you."
The bride-to-be turned to her best friend and maid-of-honor, smoothing down the sides of the white gown. "You're sure? What if Hunter doesn't like it?"
"Then he needs to get his eyes checked," Willow laughed. "McKenzie Rhodes, you look absolutely stunning, and Hunter will love that dress on you."
"Thank you," Kenzie sighed, looking up at her friend with a nervous smile. "I guess I'm just nervous."
(Just gonna post the dress for anyone who may be stalking… https://pin.it/2qgcfi45eyyo5n )
(LEO IS OFFICIALLY LEO CARTER.)
"Thank you very much for helping me with the suit, Mr. Carter," Hunter bowed, grateful that Leo's father helped him out.
Leo's father smiled and nodded, and after a few more exchanging of words, Hunter left, Leo following him.
"What did I tell you? My dad's got the best choice in clothing," Leo boasted. "Even my mother asks him for advice."
Hunter rolled his eyes.
"Leo, I've known your father for years. Of course I know he's amazing," Hunter said exasperatedly. "Plus, he does manage a clothing business, so…"
Leo nudged him. Hunter glared.
"Anyway, I wonder if Kenzie's gotten her dress…" Hunter mused. "Ugh, I want to see her. Because of the whole wedding, I haven't seen her in so long."
"Stop being dramatic," Leo rolled his eyes. "You saw her just yesterday."
Hunter groaned.
"Which is twenty-four hours, Leo."
Leo rolled his eyes again.
"Let's get you some food," he said. "My treat."
Hunter perked up immediately like a puppy.
"You can't go back on your word now!"
(What happened to Barton???)
Kenzie chewed on her lip as she went through the list of things she had to do still. It had gradually shortened throughout the past few months, but she still had to dons few things. Like picking cake flavored for instance… For that, though, she would need her fiancé.
"C'mon, Hunter… Pick up the phone…"
