"You know I always am," Kenzie said, blushing slightly. She cleared her throat, picked up her things, and turned to Henry. "Okay, I'm ready to go, now."

Hunter watched Kenzie walk away with Henry before sighing. He cursed the Carstairs before taking another route from the garden to where the guest house was.
Hunter hated the Carstairs.

Kenzie took a deep breath and let it out before taking the proffered hand of a servant, thanking him. She gracefully got out of the car, making sure not to catch her dress on anything.

(Quickly just gonna post the pics of her dress and mask for a refresher of what they look like.)

Hunter walked around, shaking hands and smiling at the guests, introducing himself as politely as he could before he was interrupted.
“Yo, cuz!” Hunter sighed. He turned around and came face-to-face with Veronica, or Vero as she liked to call herself, his cousin. “This is amazing! You did it by yourself? I can’t believe it! It’s way better than what Archie did last year!”
“I heard you, you ungrateful wench,” came a hiss and behind Veronica emerged Archer, Hunter’s elder cousin. “But she’s right, somewhat. This is pretty good.”
Hunter grinned and bumped fists with Arthur.
“Thanks, man,” he said. “It was hard work, I’ll tell ya. Where’re Charlotte, Steve, Hailey, Damian and his wife, Taylor, and Gray?”
“Well, Damian and Taylor are being bombarded by everyone. We escaped,” Veronica answered, grinning. “Gray and Charlotte are meeting with your father, and Steve and Hailey just went to get some food for Hailey.”
“By the way, Hunt,” Archer looked at Hunter. “Ann was looking for you. Hide. I’m sure she’ll do her best to get her hands on you. Remember what she did last year?”
Hunter shuddered, but before he could respond, his eyes fell at the entrance and his breath was knocked out of his chest.
McKenzie Rhodes. She was wearing a mask, but Hunter could recognize her anywhere.

Kenzie looked around the room, searching for Hunter. When she finally found him, he was already staring at her, and she smiled at him. She walked towards him, bumping into as few people as she could while making her way through the crowd. When she reached him, she was very glad she had worn more makeup than usual because the way he was looking at her made her blush deeply.

“Uh? Hunt?” Veronica waved her hand in front of Hunter’s face, but the latter seemed to have frozen completely. “Honestly, what’z gotten into— holy hell, now that is one hot girl.” Veronica’s eyes shifted to Kenzie, the pink haired girl’s mouth wide open. “Holy Hell, Hunt, who is that?”
“He’s lost, Vero,” Archer filled in for Hunter. “He won’t respond.”
Hunter did respond, but not in the way Veronica would have liked. He started to walk over to Kenzie, and when he finally reached her, he slowly lifted his hand to touch her cheek.
“Shit,” he cursed, finding himself at a loss for words. “Damn it, Kenzie, you look so… so damn gorgeous.” Hunter knew he couldn’t kiss her in front of all these people— he didn’t want them to start gossiping about his girlfriend. Instead, he cupped her face in his hands and pressed a soft kiss on her forehead. “God, you’re so beautiful.”

"Thanks. You look pretty great, too," Kenzie replied quietly. She kept her eyes on Hunter so that she wouldn't see the stares of the people around them. There were so many people… It was making her so nervous that her hands were shaking. "There are a lot of people here…"

Hunter grabbed her hands and gave them a light squeeze.
"Hey, it's okay," he said, pulling her a little closer. "Just ignore them. They're just a bunch of judgmental freaks who only care about gossiping, money and clothes. Where're Leo and Willow, though?"

Kenzie's eyes widened.

"Crap," she muttered under her breath. "I may have accidentally just… ditched… them…"

Hunter laughed, throwing head back as his body shook with laughter.
"Oh my God," he laughed, ignoring all those who looked at them. "Kenzie, you're amazing. You know that, right?

Kenzie bit her lip and let out a nervous giggle.

"Well, hey. I was nervous and I saw you, so, of course, I came over here 'cause I knew you'd help," she defended herself with a smile.

"Hunt, aren't you going to introduce me to this beauty?" Veronica suddenly popped up, cutting off Hunter. "I'm legit drooling here."
Hunter sighed.
"Kenz, this is Veronica. She's distant cousin, but we used to play together as kids. She's nuts, so don't pay attention to her. Vero, this is Kenzie, my girlfriend. Please don't inflict her with your illness," Hunter introduced them both with a monotone voice. "Now, could you leave us?"
Veronica pouted.
"You jerk," she poked him in the chest before turning to Kenzie. "Don't listen to him, Kenzie! I'm not nuts. I'm just a very energetic person. Especially when I meet someone as good-looking as yourself."
"She lies," Archer piped up. "She's totally nuts. Who else flirts with another while they're taken? Bisexuals…" he shook his head as he muttered. "I'm Archer, by the way. I'm Hunter's aunt's son, so that makes me his cousin. Just a warning, though, don't stray off from Hunter's side. The rich here are assholes."
