As you walked in, Anubis stormed out, his hands in his pockets. He paused, glancing at you before shaking his head and muttering something about how you shouldn't go in there. Curious, you walk in to a horrific stench, stepping into the kitchen to see Jean in the living room on the couch, smoking. It definitely wasn't a regular cigarette, not from the smell. He doesn't even hear you come in. His bun was practically falling out, and bits of his hair stuck to his sweating face.
My hand immediately flies to my nose. The stench is overbearing, but I know exactly where it comes from when I see a cloud of smoke spiral into the air above Jean. Before I could ask what had happened, Anubis is already out the door, pulling something small out of his pocket. I struggle not to cough.
"What in the fuck is going on?" I say, squinting at the messy sight on the couch.
"Fuck you," He mutters, but his words didn't seem to be directed at anything, not even you. Jean covered his eyes with his right arm and let his left arm fall off the couch. He inhales another whiff of the joint, holding the fumes in his lungs for a few moments before exhaling them outwards.
"It's his fucking fault," He slurs, lifting his left arm to point at the door.
i raise a gay eyebrow, realizing this is my chance to infiltrate his pretty little mind.
"what did he Do."
I raise an eyebrow. I take a spot on the couch across from Jean, considering his tall ass bitch hoe ass bitch took the whole other couch. "It's his fucking fault," he mutters. I struggle to take in smaller breaths.
"His fault? What did he do?" I ask cautiously, wondering if this would be the same outcome as Yuki.
He didn't look at you, and he didn't acknowledge your presence, causing you to wonder just how high he was. Though after a few moments, he responded to you.
"Everything was fine, I didn't need his help."
He starts, shaking his head under his arm as he takes another hit.
"Just cause I was miserable, doesn't mean I was asking him to do anything about it, but he did. Used my fucking family as target practice and burned the evidence."
He rolled over on his stomach, able to glance at you tiredly as he sighs.
"Didn't care for them, though. That's what fucked me up most."
thanks i dont know how to handle mruder lol
I blink at him. Why is this information not surprising me? Why am I not overtly shocked of the death of his family, better yet, by Anubis himself?
I scratch my neck, unsure of how to respond. "Why not? What did they do?" I try asking. Jean's eyes are red, and his pupils were beyond dilated. I remember stoners were supposed to be these loopy smiley people who talked about, like, the universe or something. Not dwell into their past. Would Jean even remember this afterwards?
Jean furrows his brow as he glares at you.
"Do you want me to spell it out for you?" He questions, as if the answer was obvious. He holds up his right arm, pointing with each word.
"I. Was. Abused." He slurs, eyes nearly rolling back in his head as he turns back onto his back. "Don't want to start a family for that very reason, too."
I inspect my nails to avoid looking at Jean, but also because my nails were awfully short. "Why do you live with Anubis then if you hate him so much?" I ask, eyes flickering to the door as if Anubis could walk in at any second. I wonder where he went. (jenny he went to go set himself on fire)
"I don't hate him, I just…hate him." He mumbles out, turning to look at the wall on the opposite side of the room.
"But neither of us has anyone else so we just, teamed up with our jobs. Been like that for awhile now."
He turns to you curiously.
"Everyone makes mistakes, right?"
"I mean, yeah, but isn't that a little toxic?" I say, definitely calling Jean out here. "Like, neither of you are mentally stable. But I suppose you two seem to work well together… still." I run my fingers through my hair, watching as Jean takes another deep breath into the joint. I visibly cringe, but he's not looking.
"Whatever, it's not like he can repeatedly kill my family or anything." Jean sits up and heaves a sigh, running a sweaty hand through his sweaty hair.
"You should go find something to do while I clean myself up. Can you call up your boyfriend Kai?"
(u can, his number is saved in the phone he gave u)
I refrain from chuckling at his first comment. He isn't wrong, Anubis can only kill his family once.
"You should go find something to do while I clean myself up. Can you call up your boyfriend Kai?" Jean asks, looking blankly at me. I think about my phone, which I looked through and Kai's number has already been saved.
"I mean, I guess I could try. I don't know if he'll answer," I mutter, pulling my phone out of my pocket. "And he's not my boyfriend."
Jean rolls his eyes and peels himself off the couch, swaying his way down the hall.
"Whatever you say, JJ." He chimes, closing the door behind him, the smoke following. You dial the number for Kaiholo and hit the call button. It rings for a few moments before he picks up.
"Hey, you alright?"
I shake my head. JJ? What's with these boys and letters?
I call Kai, who takes a fucking while to answer. damn boy u got better things to do huh?????? wahtever bitch. "Hey, you alright?" he says immediately.
I pull my legs up onto the couch and lay down. "Chill, I'm fine. Jean's too high to hang out with me and he told me to call you for the time being. How's whatever you're doing going?"
Kaiholo audibly sighed with relief.
"Things are going great, I'm discussing with Ty our plan of action, but unfortunately I can't even tell you what we're doing even as we're doing it. Are you okay with that?"
I got up from the couch and started pacing around the house. "Doesn't really seem like I have a choice. But, I trust you," I sigh, making circles around the island.
"Alright," Kaiholo breathed, sounding a bit more relaxed. In fact, he sounded more relaxed than he's ever been.
"Hey, Jen, it's autumn, right?" He pauses, a bit of hesitation and nervousness in his voice, but he continues nevertheless.
"Could you describe what it's like outside for me? In autumn?"
I fidget with the magnets on the refrigerator. Describe autumn? I take a moment to think of my answer. "Well, hmm.
"The trees change colors. They start out what limeade taste like, if you've ever tried that. You should try it, it's delicious. Anyways, or they're kind of like how a violin sounds like. That's green to me. That's how the leaves start, but then when autumn comes around, they turn into the color that has more of a pumpkin pie taste. Or how wood feels. Or like, um, the sound of a campfire. That crackling of the wood, yeah. And, someone's playing guitar. That's what I think fall colors are like. Yellows and oranges and browns. Kind of like your hair! Your hair is definitely autumn. And the leaves are so crunchy, I love walking on them. Normally, it's cloudy and the sky is just gray and it makes the world a little darker. Gray is like marble. Or how the cold crisp air feels when you breathe it into your lungs. It's not my favorite season, but breathtaking nonetheless. We should walk around together some day and experience it." Hopefully we can do that soon.
I wait for an answer, afraid that my description didn't really make sense or that it was too wild or it was stupid. I had paced to the piano and ended up running my fingers across the keys, but not quite pushing them down to make sounds.
kaiholo's in fucking tears and so am i
Kaiholo was grinning so wide you could almost hear it through the phone as he breathed quietly. When you finished, he almost forgot to respond as he caught himself in a daze.
"Yeah, we should. Thank you, Jen."
His words are calm and serene, like he relaxed so much he nearly fell asleep.
I get up from the piano and start to the front hallway, wondering if Anubis merely stayed on the porch.
"Yeah, we should. Thank you, Jen," Kai says after a moment of silence.
"Why do I get the feeling you've asked me this before?" I chuckle, making my way back to the kitchen. "I bet I described it just as shitty too," I pause and sigh. "Kai? I know you had my memory erased for a reason, but you don't know how much it hurts not knowing where I came from or who you even are to me. If Tyler can erase it, he must be able to bring it back, right?"
Kaiholo sighs heavily.
"Yes, he can. Would you like to meet up with us soon so he can restore your memory?"
He mutters, making me realizing the irony in how i can't describe anything visual bc u can't funcking see him rn
