"She's not out of the woods…" Cyrus muttered, panting heavily as he sat on the grass.
His hands were shaking violently, and his heart beat so hard that he thought it was trying to escape his chest. He had the strength to save her in the moment, but now it was fading, and the panic set in quickly. Cyrus felt like he was going to be sick.
"Okay, let's get both of you inside." With how bad Cy was shaking, it would be best if Uriah carried Sparrow back inside. He scooped his hands under her and lifted her with ease. "Come on." He still has a long ways to go. Uriah shook his head.
She shivered “bad…. idea..” she mumbled
Uriah looked down at her. "What's a bad idea?" Getting her inside or maybe just moving her? He had no idea. And if only Cy was freaking out he may know was he was doing. "Cy, my man. I seriously need your help."
“…Cold” she shivered again
"Yeah, what do you need?" Cyrus asked, standing up, "We need to get her in there and have her warm up, maybe see if there's something in one of the med kits that can maybe lower the risk of any complications."
She coughed again and shivered
"Welcome back!" Uriah said sarcastically. As he ran off to the bunker. "You have to climb down with her. You're bigger and stronger." Uriah held out Sparrow for him to take.
She was mumbling again “mom?”
"Sure thing," Cyrus said, taking Sparrow and holding her over his shoulder in a fireman's carry. He waited for Uriah to open the hatch and started down the ladder, then helped Sparrow lay on the sofa on her side.
"I'm glad you heard me." Uriah breathed a breath of relief. "I was probably making it worse." That's right her ankle. He did yank it out pretty hard. Uriah wen to her legs and bent down, taking a look at her ankle. It was bruised and bleeding. "We need to bandage her ankle as well.
"Yeah, I think we should maybe take a look once she's alert enough to tell us what's wrong with it. Right now, I'm more concerned about secondary drowning and hypothermia," Cyrus said, "Do we have any dry clothes laying around? If not, blankets will have to do."
"I have extra clothes, they might be a bit big but they are dry." Uriah ran to the back room and grabbed a shirt and pants. "Here." He held them out for Cyrus. "I'll look away." Uriah laid his face on the wall. There was no way he was changing her.
"Okay… I guess I have to do this…"
Cyrus would have appreciated the help, but he figured he wouldn't ask. He quickly changed her, forcing himself to not think of anything other than her well-being. Cyrus wrung any water out of her hair to perhaps make it dry faster, then he draped her wet clothes over a chair to dry in the kitchen. He grabbed his cup of tea to offer to her if she wanted some to warm up, then walked back in.
"Done?" Uriah peeked a bit and turned the rest of the way around when she was fully clothed. "Its definitely big on her." Uriah's clothes made her look small. "Sparrow, can you hear me?" He bent down so he was closer to her.
"Yeah," Cyrus said, standing back and gazing over Sparrow.
He had his hands together in front of him and was biting down on his lip, trying to keep control over his emotions. Something kept him strong enough. Perhaps it was his know-how and confidence in these types of situations.
Uriah stood back up. "You did good Cy." He patted his back. "I would offer you a drink, but I broke all the bottles." As soon as he said that he slumped over. "I want a drink." He sighed before laying a back on a bed.
Cyrus looked back at Uriah. "Thanks… but I only did what I had to do." He chuckled a little at Uriah's mention of alcohol and sighed, "But yeah, me too, buddy."
Sparrow shifted “why am I under 50 blankets?” She asked
"Because you nearly drowned and are at risk for hypothermia. I'm not taking chances," Cyrus replied with his arms crossed.
“Like you care.” She said and burrowed under the blankets
"Cared enough to save your ass," Cyrus chuckled.
“I doubt it, you were at the bunker. It was probably Uriah.” A muffled voice said from inside th blankets
"He got you out of the water, yes. He didn't know what to do though, so he called for help and I came running," Cyrus explained.
