Trianna pauses. "You're 24? God, I'm old. . ."
Trianna pauses. "You're 24? God, I'm old. . ."
He throws his head back, laughing. “Yeah! I look about 29-30 though- I’ve got the scruff to prove it-“
"I bet you look adorable since you're younger than I am by about. . . 7 years." she snorts. "But I wouldn't knw anything about looks."
He chuckles, “I haven’t looked myself in a mirror for a year- and i dont give two shits about looks right now-“
(Me: lets poor bec do a turn)
Trianna laughs.
"I mean I'm blind, kid." she explains.
"Wait, how old are you, then?" Tohru asks, "You look to be… maybe two or three years older than me at most- and I'm 26. I think."
Tohru tilts his head.
"Though I frankly still feel like I'm inhabiting some awkward teenager's body half the time."
“I know that!” He smiles. He was…beginning to like these people.
"Me? I'm 31." Trianna grins. "But age means nothing nowadays."
She elbows Cathal playfully. "Sure you do."
Cathal makes a face, rolling his eyes.
Trianna giggles to herself. "I could feel the look you just gave me, kid."
"It really doesn't. After all, those of us who are younger, we ended up missing a lot of milestones. I was in my last semester of college when everything happened," Tohru mused, "And well… in our group, one of the survivors was a sixteen-year-old. Now she's about twenty. Didn't finish high school. Never been on a date. Never had a summer job. Age is… different, now."
"Age is how many times you escape from Death." Trianna jokes.
Cathal chuckles, “Naw age is how many barbwire fences you can climb-“ he smirks.
"Oh then Tohru is already dead." she teases.
Cathal rolls his eyes. “Shut it.” He smiles, then gets barked at by Teddy. He blinks, then gasps. “God damnit i almost forgot supper!” He gets up and starts preparing a meal.
"Wait- how do you know about that?" Tohru asks, "I never said exactly how I got hurt. B-besides, I've made it over them before. I just messed up this time. Like really bad…"
"Whereas I'm immortal, since I can cut my way through them." she jokes, before jumping when Teddy barks.
"God he's loud-"
She looks over at Tohru. "Process of elimination. From the way you were talking it wasn't another person, nor was it a zombie, and you kept saying 'infected' as in an actual infection, not that zombie bullshit, which left animal or metal. Since animals avoid humans it had to be metal, and considering the fence all the way out there it made it obvious."
Cathal hums, “he was reminding me about food- before i got him, id forget to eat for days…”
She looks back over at Cathal.
"Back in the beggining I had no food. I honestly have forgotten what non-canned food tastes like."
Cathal laughs. “Same here- though when im lucky i catch a deer or something-“ he smirks, “or some twinkles or other well preserved food.”
"We were lucky at first," Tohru says, "We had a guy on our team who did the hunting for us. But… he did absolutely kill one of our companions on purpose. And he was generally an ass, so there's that. I'll trade fresh meat for not having an awful person on my team, please and thank you. I do miss it just a little bit, though. I've had more than enough canned food, and eventually, it's not going to be edible anymore. It doesn't last forever."
He glances at Triana again.
"Oh- well… alright, then, but you didn't have to share with the class!"
Cathal laughs, smiling brightly.
Trianna chuckles. "You asked how I knew!"
Teddy seemed to also be enjoying this interaction. His tail wagged and he was looking from person to person, yet he still stayed in his ‘service dog mode’ on Tohru’s lap.
