"There's someone outside." she repeats, on her feet quickly. Any traces of alcohol were gone now as she grabbed one of her knives.
Yvonne was standing outside a strange building near a military base, holding her 4 gauge shotgun at the ready as she examines the door.
"Damn it. . ." she mutters. This was not how this was supposed to go. She found a bunker, sure, but it was locked tightly. She flops down on the ground, her head bouncing as her pack hets before anything else.
Cathal grabs a gun, pushing Teddy back. “Tohru get behind me.” He walks to the door, keeping Teddy out of harms way. He presses his ear to the door, listening.
Tohru gets up suddenly, and pain jolts down his leg. Although at this point, he's not paying much attention to that. He fumbles through his bag for his revolver and makes sure the gun is loaded before they open the door. Tohru's still a little tipsy, but the safety is on, and he doesn't plan to shoot at all unless things are dire.
"They're probably just looking for shelter, right?" he suggests.
Trianna follows after everyone and listens to what's going on.
Yvonne yelps as the door opens, flipping onto her feet and aiming the shotgun at them.
"I won't hesitate to blow yer skippy arses to next Tuesday, don't focking test me twats." she snarls in a thick Scottish accent.
Trianna groans. "God damn it she's a Scottish child."
Cathal glares at the new girl. “Who are you and what are your intentions?”
Teddy snarls, barking at the woman.
"'m Yvonne Crow, you bloody eejit." she snaps. "And my intentions are to put a damn slug through your fockin chest if you're an enemy."
Trianna has to admit, the girl had guts. She chuckles.
"Let her in, Cathal. No harm in it." she grins.
Cathal shakes his head, “Absolutely not. Not if she’s threatening me. I’m not taking any chances of her hurting Teddy.”
Yvonne snaps. "I'm not gonna hurt your fockin' dog. I'm no' a fockin psychopath. 'nd I'm only threatening you 'cos I don't know if yor a fockin threat, do I?"
Trianna can't help but start losing her shit.
Teddys attention snaps to Cathal and he moves in front of him, nudging him away from the door. Cathal’s hands were shaking so much it was starting to become hard to hold his gun. He sucks in a shaky breath and waves his hand. “H-hurry- u-p and- sh-shut the god damned d-door…”
Yvonne sighs. "Look bud, I'm 16 and 've seen shit tham would make your granpappy shit his britches. I came here with my parents a year before all this bullshite cos we were looking for a better life. Please just give me a fockin place to stay where I can sleep peacefully."
Trianna turns to face Cathal after a moment.
"Cathal, she's a kid. . ." she says quietly. "I can take care of her myself, alright?"
Cathal pauses, staring for a moment. He then gently pulls the girl inside and throws bleach onto the ground, then closes the door behind her. His breathing was quickening and his heart rate was getting faster and faster. Flashbacks of his sister filled his mind.
Teddy didn’t seem all too pleased about this. He makes Cathal sit down, snuggling close.
Vvonne smiles greatfully at Trianna.
She didn't know what was up with Cathal, but Trianna understood, at the least, that he was breaking down.
Trianna quickly roots through her own gear, frowning. She finds an iPod she'd taken - she had no clue what music was on it - and a pair of wired headphones that should work for her purposes. She turns on the iPod - somehow it still had a charge, then plugs in the headphones, slipping them onto Cathal's head and pressing play, making sure the music woul be only loud enough to help him tune out and calm down.
Yvonne watches but doesn't say anything.
Cathal whines, hiding his face in teddys furr as he started sobbing. The memories only got worse. Instead of the vision of him pointing the gun at Vvonne, it was replaced with him pointing his gun at his sister.
Teddy whines, nuzzling into the crook of Cathal’s neck. He leans into his owner, trying to put all his body weight onto him.
Trianna watches, unsure of what to do. Teddy probably wouldn't let her hug Cathal. . . but it might not hurt to try.
Before she even can, though, Yvonne was there, holding the older man against her chest, making comforting noises.
Cathal tenses. His whole body was trembling. She even felt like her. He holds onto Teddy for dear life, sobbing even harder. He now remembered how it felt to break down in front of people. Embarrassing, humiliating, scary. Teddy seemed to take notice and he licks Catha’s face, nudging into him.
Yvonne murmurs soothing words in Gaelic, knowing that Cathal couldn't understand - nobody did. But she knew he could read the tone behind them, and knew it would maybe help a little. She could tell the difference between sobs of frustration, anger and grief, and these were grief. She'd heard them from herself plenty of times.
Trianna was stunned. What the fuck. . .?
Teddy looks at the girl and gently nudges her, then rests his head on Cathal’s shoulder. It took a LONG while before he was able to calm down, his sobs slowly quieting down to shudders. He tried his best to apologize and thank the girl, but all that came out was a whine.
Yvonne smiles slightly, seeming to understand. "No need to apologize, bud. We all have our moments."
Trianna sighs. You know what, I won't even question it.
Cathal sucks in a breath, starting to flap his hands in attempt to regulate himself. Teddy moves out of the way, laying down in his lap and closing his eyes. Cathal always hated it when he stimmed like this in front of people. He called it ‘ugly stimming’, where he did drastic movements instead of small and almost unnoticeable.
Yvonne gets up.
"Regardles, ye better now?" she asks.
He shakes his head slightly. No he wasn’t. He felt just as bad as before, but now, it looked like he was ‘calm’. But from the way teddy was still acting, it was clear he wasn’t.
Tohru drops his gun and makes sure the bunker door is closed.
I should've done something sooner…
"It's probably best if we leave him to it," Tohru says softly, "He'll be alright. Teddy will help him, and we'll be right here if he needs anything. Give him some space."
Yvonne nods thoughtfully, before looking at Tohru and shaking her head.
"Ye gotta understand, some people need t' be comforted. Like him." she murmurs. "I had a brother like him. S I know how to deal with him."
